Wallet updated, old coins still there etc., so I am ready for a fork as I believe.
Just one question - are we have some new dev. team here or supporters ( who is making those updates )? Wonder is it still same people as this is quite old coin.

Hi Harry.

I'm a long-time fan of auroracoin.. since the early days.

Baldur Odinson, the inventor of auroracoin has left the project alone. He pretty much disappeared quite early on.

I am very happy that this dedicated group of people (in large part people from Iceland, I think. I'm not part of it myself, but I recently started discussing a bit more with them and trying to help a little bit with the project) took over the project. They really have their heads and hearts in the right places. Their goal is not pump&dump or "be the next bitcoin", they just carry on the original idea of Auroracoin: make a currency for a small, segregated group of cool people that suffer above average from the financial system (have been fucked by bankers, essentially).

Will it work to airdrop coins on them and hope (help) they will adopt crypto? A very interesting question. Auroracoin is the experiment (ongoing) to find this. If it doesn't work in Iceland, why would it work for the world?

Baldur Odinson gave 1 Million AUR of the premine to the Auroracoin Foundation, which was made by this group. And he appeared one more time (we thank him for that) to burn the rest of the premine that wasn't airdropped. The 3 stages of the airdrop went through, almost as planned (amounts were adjusted upward to get out more coins). There might have been some fraud with the collection system, but I think every citizen had his chance to collect. So we can say yes: this coin is premined, but the premine went ~85% to the population of Iceland and 15% to the Auroracoin foundation whose goal it is to further the adoption of auroracoin in Iceland.

So I myself trust the new team more than I had trusted Baldur, the original creator. They are not anonymous and largely transparent in their actions. They also did many things already and they're doing a phantastic job!

Very few coins revivals prove successful.  I do like the idea of country focused coins. Good luck with this one!

AUR is one of my favorite coins.
I look at it as a sleeping giant, with the dedicated work we see as the determining factor that can make it's success happen.
I don't think luck is needed! LOL  Smiley

"Sleeping giant". I like that. I think it's accurate, too. Also what you say about luck.

Damn, flights from Kopenhagen are AUR 11625. That's still a bit expensive... maybe next year when the Auroracoin economy is rolling Wink

Depends on what you like to do and how tolerant you are of cold. Mid July is the best time weather wise but also the time everybody are on vacation and you are 10 times more likely to meet other tourists than Icelanders.

my personal favorite time to travel in Iceland is august to October but that is off course because of hunting related matters.

The 2nd of february saw a turning point minimum in the moving average price of Auroracoin.

As of today 21st Feb the minimum looks to be a true minimum and the average price is predictably moving back up.

is this parabolic shape part of balduro's plan. did he foresee this?

In case you missed the first couple times we mentioned it, here's the link for the market speculation thread:

Please keep this kind of discussion there.

its been so long since ive looked at another coin.

Anyone have any suggestions?
