Glad we're back.  Been a pretty good first week so far.  Can't wait to get an update from the dev.

When does the day trading begin?  How many traders have been established?  Thanks.

The top line of the trading spreadsheet says that trading will begin after the long (Memorial) Holiday weekend.

It appears that the distribution (of balances) that you see on BitTrex is *not* the rich list, it is *not* looking at the block chain,
it is only showing that for the balance in the Bittrex wallet (the top entry in the rich list), how that balance is divided over Bittrex accounts.
I have balance outside Bittrex that does not show on their distribution list, only my balance on Bittrex does.

Update

Hello everyone -- it's nice to see the forums back online.  Make sure to follow @GambitCrypto on Twitter or check the website every day if any other untimely situations come up such as this Bitcointalk hack.

To catch everyone up to speed:

The markets are now open
https://www.bittrex.com/Market/Index?MarketName=BTC-GAM

The wallets have been released
EDITED: Download the newest version from Gambitcrypto.com

The block explorer has been updated
https://chainz.cryptoid.info/gam/#
  • Rich-list has been enabled (top 100 wallets with the highest balance)
  • Tagged addresses have been added

To confirm what was posted already regarding the top wallet having over 60%, that is the Bittrex wallet for users who have not withdrawn any tokens.  It started at just under 2 million and will slowly decrease as more users start withdrawing so they can earn staking rewards.

More information regarding the traders, how that system is going to work, and how to become a trader will be posted tomorrow

You can see a live example of a tagged address by visiting the burn address: GHqvR8KwyrcJ5UJHvwf7RmLtvAnr5uTHdV.  You will see that it has a note "GAMBIT BURNED TOKENS" and a link that explains what this means.
I noticed that only about 40 people have withdrawn their Gambit into their wallet and possibly less, if people created multiple addresses in their wallet. But only about 500k Gambit has been withdrawn and still 1.5 mio remain on Bittrex, so there are probably still many people
who need to setup a wallet and withdraw to increase the amount of staking - you get 5% free interest per year...

Good work re. this coin and dev, keep it up and you may have something here.  I'm sure the manipulation and price ups/downs will happen but I really hope it only goes in a positive direction, both in development AND price! Wink  Going by what you wrote under "Trading Fund" in your OP....this coin "SHOULD" explode as time passes (and possibly not even that much time).

I am running the Windows wallet without any problems, I did not even need a configuration file and it started sync'ing right away.
If I am not mistaken, we have crossed the block 15,000 boundary earlier today, switching from PoW to staking
and this happened very smoothly, no difference in wallet operation noticeable, just that the PoW diff no longer changes
but instead the Staking diff is moving, albeit still very low (0.0003, barely above the minimum).
In the beginning there was a period where there were too little blocks (30 in an hour instead of the design target of 60)
but this compensates the flurry of blocks yesterday where there were up to 100 per hour.
All in all a very good operation of the wallet.

Hey Collin,
How does the wallet decide to re-combine inputs that it earlier split in half?
I see with every time staking the inputs go from 1000 to 2x500 to 4x250 to 8x125 and so on,
but occasionally I see a large stake reward and the number of inputs has decreased by about 15,
so apparently if the bits get too small, it will at times decide to collect a bunch of inputs that are ready to stake
and create a single bigger input again. But it does not do this every time, it seems kinda random?

Staking works on set parameters designed to keep the network secure and stable.  Some coins have bad settings because they mess around with things like coins supply (too much, too little). Gambit is based on the Jumbucks code base with similar specs so I know it works well.

So the staking parameters are based on consensus so everyone works based on the same rules. Coin inputs may split, combine, etc...  It's all programmed in. Some things are also based on the staking difficulty at the time as well.
But in general it all "works out".  There is no quick answer though so you'd need to read up on Proof of Stake networks to get the full answer.
Hi Jyap,
I have been involved since early 2014 with one of the first coins that switched from PoW to PoS (Orbit) and we have made modifications
to the parameters to make that coin work better over the first months, so I have an idea how it is supposed to work, that is why I was
looking at Coin Control and trying to figure out when the wallet decides to re-combine inputs - I can see that normally inputs are always split during staking, but at times I see a larger than expected staking reward pop up and when I look at the inputs, there are fewer than I expect, so there are some times that the wallet decides to re-combine, but to me it appears to happen at random, not at a specific (low) value of input (which is what I have seen with other coins - a configurable threshold when it starts to re-combine, so you could manipulate how fast staking was happening without running into the max staking reward. This was sort of a game with the HyperStake coin.
So, I am still looking for a confirmation if the re-combination is at random or that there are certain fixed criteria when it is happening.
I could pull the repository and inspect the source code, of course but have no time to dig in right now.
