Is there any other project similar to SiaCoin? Is there any rival now - or maybe will be in near future?

Is there any way to have a multisig wallet? Or to access the same wallet from two different computers?

No multisig wallets available.

Using the same wallet in two machines is supported starting on version 1.3 of the Client. If you are just using the wallet to send and receive coins it will be ok, but if you plan to host or rent file storage it could be still problematic, specially for hosting.

For the moment I had in mind that just for keeping my coins Smiley

StorjX seems to be simillar, but a lot smaller, because it is in early development process.

Sia has a better development team, so why would we need another coin?

Madesafe is working on something similar but much more ambitious, but it's taking endless time to realise.

Would a SiafundAddress_Key0.siakey file generated around Sun 17 May 2015 01:12:40 PM EDT be useful for anything now?

Oh, so that file must be from the old times, previous to version 0.4 when old file wallets became incompatible with the new seed system...

I am not sure if it will work for SiaFunds, but for SiaCoins there is a method for retrieving coins from those legacy wallets. It is worth you give it a try: Install the last version of the client and do this: https://siawiki.tech/wallet/recovering_from_file

Of course, that file should not have been "redeemed" before...

Which exactly is the SIA wallet file and where is it stored in Windows 7?

Keep us update I am pretty curious.
Although I think that you won't have any problem to recover as per version 1.1, they updated the software so it could accept any kind of wallets(no matter when the wallet software was updated).

No, file wallets do not apply for you, don't worry about it. In very old Sia versions (2 years ago), wallets were stored in a file and that file was the only way to retrieve your funds. In current wallets the wallet can be retrieved in any computer just by using your recovery seed. The seed is the only thing that you'll need.

In any case, in current versions of Sia there is a wallet folder that stores the indexation of the blockchain to quickly retrieve the final balance of your wallet when you open Sia. It is located in users/your_user/appdata/roaming/Sia. But if you delete that folder you still preserve your funds. And having the folder but not the seed is not enough to retrieve the funds: you need the seed

Then I would try to contact the devs in Slack or the Sia Forums, they do not check BitcoinTalk

BTW... How happened you never transferred your SF to a new wallet when version 0.4 was released? One thing is mining some Siacoins back in time, forget about them and now realizing they are very valuable. But Siafunds were expensive even during the crowdsale (and now running at 2.5-3BTC)!! I supposed all SF holders were people following closely the project.

lol let's just say i'm a particularly bad mariner Cheesy

I put up a thread on the forums and will probably join slack soon, and of course I'll be playing with the software next. Pretty sure I've got a wallet file somewhere too.

Thanks for your help!

I am new to SIA, I've noticed that when you create a wallet the default password is exactly the same as the seed. Is it a better choice to change it or to keep it like that?

I have withdrawn SIA from Polo in two different withdraws, the first has arrived, the second didn't. Any clues on how to investigate where the transaction got stucked? I've tried the siaexplorer but I didn't understand much of what I've seen there...

I heard that the SC mining ASIC has appeared, in the future, the value of hashing will increase, and the price of SC should be higher and expectation.

Agreed.
Seems like the ASIC Mining, could be a great thing for the future of SIA, as it opens the gates to a large group of people to be able to mine, which could improve the capacity of the Sia Network.
Very big deal!

The delays in some withdrawals are a common problem of Poloniex, check this article of the Wiki: https://siawiki.tech/wallet/transactions_confirmation_and_exchanges_issues

About using the Sia Explorer, introduce the "txid" that Polo provided you for the withdrawal and introduce it in the "hash" field of the Explorer. If the transaction is included in a block, it will return you the info of that block, otherwise it will indicate "hash not found" meaning Polo has to re-broadcast the transaction again

You can change the password for your convenience. But always keep the seed wrote down somewhere safe, as if your computer crashes the seed is the only way to recover your funds

Friendly reminder to all Sia users

Last week version 1.3 ("Capricorn") of the Sia client was released, but so far the adoption of this version has been limited.

By updating to the last version, you will enjoy all the new features, like improvements in the UI, more stability and the offline file repair for renters.

But most importantly, by updating you are improving the network reliability. Certain features are network-level and require a certain number of upgraded nodes to work effectively. This includes the improved memory pool of transactions that will avoid the delays that exchanges like Poloniex have been experiencing with withdrawals.

Please, take a few minutes to update your client. No one is reporting issues during the update and if you keep your recovery seed you'll be able to recover your funds even on a different computer in the rare case something goes wrong.

Download the last version here: http://sia.tech/apps/ and if you are not sure about how to upgrade, check this article in the Wiki: https://siawiki.tech/client/updating_the_interface

Thank you very much, this has cleared a few thing in my mind. And BTW meanwhile also the second withdrawal has arrived, but it took loong.
