Question: Before PoA, do we need merged mining?
Merged mining is a good idea
We do not need merged mining
We need only PoA
We need both merged mining and PoA

I also have that issue with wrong time (1970) - when will be a fix released?

From log:

Blockchain initialized. last block: 0, d1293.h3.m44.s28 time ago, current difficulty: 1

I have helped other people with this problem by emailing them a copy of my .bin files with working connections to replace them in the C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\digitalnote folder.

You can send me an email address via private message if you like or get the files from someone you know with a syncronized wallet.
Bitcoin mining is now a specialized and very risky industry, just like gold mining. Amateur miners are unlikely to make much money, and may even lose money. Bitcoin is much more than just mining, though!

This is my current local XDN exchange rate: Buy 0.0000338008 BTC, Sell 0.0000507011 BTC

I have the same rate, only for you, and for your advantage.

Thank you for your interest in DigitalNote. I'd be happy to answer your questions the best I can.

1. There are trillions of payments globally every year. Once XDN goes mainstream, transaction fees will easily pay the interest. Extra coins can go to the miners. Until then, we are still under the maximum number of 8,589,869,056XDN which incidentally, is a perfect number. This number can manage the world over with its needs for large, small and micro transactions.

2. Crazy as it sounds, several of Europe’s central banks have cut key interest rates below zero and kept them there for more than a year. Negative rates will hit the USA soon. We can't have interest rates too high with XDN as we need the velocity of DigitalNote. We don't want bagholders. We want decentralization and worldwide acceptance.

I truly believe in this coin's potential and that it could be the best cryptocurrency for the future.

Hope this answers your concerns. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Thanks for the clear answers. Transaction fees are used to pay the interest - in a sense people using the currency are subsidizing people holding the currency. Not necessarily a bad thing, but it does limit the rate of interest. Still not sure how the interest rate can be fixed and still guarantee no inflation . . . what if there are few transactions, and a lot of deposit holders? I'd be more inclined to keep the term deposits, but have a floating interest rate calculated from some percentage of the transaction fees - more like a profit distribution to confirmed hodlers. BitShares was discussing something like this in the early days.

I'm aware that there are very low interest rates on major currencies at the moment. However the central bankers have different objectives than altcoiners, so it is not a useful comparison. These are also very unusual times for interest rates. Traditionally when there is low demand for a currency, interest rates rise to make the currency more attractive. I'd argue that is what needs to happen with DigitalNote to save it from a continued steady loss of price and market cap.

I finally fixed their problem by emailing them a copy of my .bin files with working connections to replace them in C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\digitalnote

You can send me an email address via private message if you like and I will help further if you need it. This is bad practice security wise with someone you don't know unless they can be trusted... or get the files from someone you know.

fix works.. thanks a million man! Cheesy

PM incoming, hopefully there is a fix by the devs at some point. Any explanation for this weird failure?

EDIT: Is it possible to format these .bin files without having to wait for them to be sent?

I'm not a Dev however I have found a temporary fix for people who need it by replacing the .bin files from a synced wallet in: C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\digitalnote   on the computer where the wallet has no connections to any peers.

Hopefully the Dev team provides a fix soon. PM an email address and I will send the files.

Hello,

I have issue with wrong time (1970) as well, but another one. I have tried to send XDNs from MinerGate client to my wallet, but it failed. I've reached MinerGate, they told me it is issue with my wallet. After recreating it, I've sent some of XDNs again but still no luck. So, I've wrote to DigitalNote official address and I am waiting for answer. Hopefully they will resolve this soon enough and I will keep this thread updated. Has anyone else had same issue? With failed transaction?

Anyway i will PM kkraus69 for bin files.

So , are all those bin file requests from Windows Users ? (I'm on OSX — didn't have that issue )

I would like to assign the interest generated by locking—in some xdn together with mining results to a different address than mine .
I would like to see a feature to do this in a planned and automated manner using the xdn network and wallet technology with an issued
'receipt' or 'certificate' that ' such or any ' transaction has been successfully effected , there should be a mechanism to give proof .

The evolved idea is that of giving someone an income generated from another xdn—party
wishing to do so by mining or by re-distributing any part of the maturing interests .
This can be conditional or unconditional income , the decision is on the givers side .

dNote , can you make 'it' happen from inside the wallet ? That would be truly great !

I'm guessing the seed node(s) that is (are) hard coded into the client is (are) down. I don't see exactly where that is defined in the source code after a few minutes of looking tho...

Found it, thanks:

Code:
const std::initializer_list<const char*> SEED_NODES = {
  "seed.digitalnote.org:42080",
  "seed.ducknote.org:42080"
};

Ping works on ducknote (64.34.219.46) one but no response on digitalnote (5.9.13.37).

You can start the node with --add-exlcusive-node and see if it is able to start communicating. Ping success means there is hardware and an OS but not necessarily a node.

Just wanted to update, kkraus69's bin files worked. I can probably zip them and provide hashes if that would work, on Dropbox or Mega or something.

Greetings to everyone,

I am here now just for a few words. You should know that we are doing our best with XDN development, new features and API, and you will see an amazing results.
We are making both - core system and client side improvements.
It might seems we are doing too long, but, believe me, time is a necessary resource with the stuff we are working on.
Thank you for your support and, please. wait for new announcements.

It's in users/home[your-username]/.digitalnote
[it is an invisible folder which starts with a dot ]
if you cannot retrieve the old wallet anymore ,
you still can import your old wallet's balance
via its private key to your new wallet address
