Why have Bitcoin instead of cash?

Because bitcoin is better that  fiat and it is growing so fast  and it is more eas to make profit eith bitcoin then real life money.

Cash is good for day-to-day transactions while bitcoins is good for online transactions. Since we are all going cashless, people might start seeing the benefits of bitcoins... asides the fact that its price keeps increasing.

yes that is a fact. that in present time we need both the currencies, of is not so much convenience without the other, may be a time come when only one currency will be enough for us but in present time i think we cannot depend on single currency, because bitcoin is good for online buying or even more good for saving and investing but in local market in most of the place we cannot use bitcoin as it is not accepted in most of the areas so there we have to use the fiat currency.

as the system of bitcoin is not established everywhere that is why we feel better with cash in our daily life while paying in our local market, and if that system established everywhere then we all will refer bitcoin as it will be more secure for us.

But in our local markets we will feel convenient with our cash/fiat even if the technology of bitcoin is established much more, as with our fiat we will not have to wait for the transaction to confirm and with fiat we will not have to pay any transaction fee, so I think we should have to use bitcoin mostly for our digital dealings.

I recently paid for some local tacos using Bitcoin. My friend who was unfamilar with Bitcoin thought it was strange, like I technically didn't pay for them or something. We got into discussing Bitcoin and one of the questions he asked me was:
"Why would you want Bitcoins instead of cash?". For a second I didn't know what to say; then I thought about it and here is what I came up with. Feel free to contribute to this.

1) More security (especially if you are careful).

2) Bitcoins are a potential investment, cash is not. Paper currency only really goes down in value, Bitcoins have a lot of potential to be worth more as time goes on.

3) Fast, worldwide transactions at your fingertips.

4) Similar to #3, but it's a universal currency. It's legal in most countries of the world and you don't need any kind of currency conversion to send money to people in a different country than your own.

You are missing something there which actually missing by bitcoin.  It is the most essential feature of a currency.  that is being used everywhere, anywhere, anytime.  And that seems one of the problem if you have bitcoin in your stash.  You cannot use it to pay cab, pay for gasoline and pay for food in your local food court.  We all believe that we like BTC alot but please let us not exaggerate.  the instant usage when you need to pay something that only accept fiat money.  If you convert your BTC to cash, unless there is a bitcoin atm, it will take time.

You are right, without fiat we cannot easily spend our bitcoins in our community. Actually not all transactions are in online so we still need fiat for offline transactions, for now bitcoins is better seen as investment rather than currency.

i have bitcoin is for investments for the future. although i do not understand about what is going on, i prefer better i have investment on bitcoins rather than anything else. and gladly, on internet, i can make my investment growth than i can imagine.

Me too, people who don't know and understand bitcoin will call it as a weird investment but for wise people like us, we see that investing in bitcoin will give us a good future and with continue savings on it we may have a good fortune and live comfortably out from our profit.

You are right, without fiat we cannot easily spend our bitcoins in our community. Actually not all transactions are in online so we still need fiat for offline transactions, for now bitcoins is better seen as investment rather than currency.

But for me bitcoin is not only the source of investment, it is also a very beneficial currency for me, I am online worker and doing most of my work online and for that there were many issues with me as different people were using different payment processors, while now with bitcoin there is no any issue with me, whenever I ask for bitcoin from any of my client they say yes.

This is the essence of bitcoin for me, a universal digital currency, free of interference from any one bank, government or other entity. Bitcoin is one of the few options that will give you all of those things - PayPal is digital and quite widely-used but a commercial enterprise at the end of the day, so there will always be restrictions on what you can use it for. Bitcoin really is almost unique in its status as a digital currency that is decentralized, and quite well used by now(of course this can definitely be improved upon).

if you are just buying small stuffs then cash is better. but if you are holding a lot of it, it is already too bulky. It is better if you have bitcoins or debit card. You do not have to carry stuffs around, just your cellphone. And that is normal because you always carry your cellphone with you.

One more thing is the feeling of getting scared when you are holding a lot of money. You dont know what could happen and if those bad guys felt that you are holding a cash with a large quantity then it could be robbed at you easily. Unlike with bitcoin with just like you said through cellphone. They might also robbed your bitcoin but could they open your wallet account? There is a chance but very low and they wont think about opening it if they just want the smartphone.

I earn cash and convert to bitcoin. The value of cash will decrease and the bitcoin price will rise a lot.

yes that is right but we cannot depend on bitcoin only, i consider bitcoin as a side business and i mostly invest my all  assets in bitcoin, i am a teacher and when i receive my salary i try to buy bitcoin with it, but for my daily necessities i use fiat currency because we have no facilities of using bitcoin in  in our local markets.

Since fiat value is stable, it's really a must for fiat to be used to support our regular spendings in daily basis.

Bitcoin isn't fit to cover all our daily needs since it's price is not stable and possibility to throw away some good profits when there is a price increase is possible.

There is no stable fiat value in this world, the value of fiat is changing every second depending on the economy of the country and hype of what they will do next to strengthen their economical business however the later statement is correct atleast for now however sooner than you expected, you could be able to purchase your groceries with it
