Thanks for your efforts, Kushedout.
What's the purpose of this coin? I know, presstab is a developer with good reputation. The concept of distribution and staking sounds interesting. But next to buying, staking and selling there must be a plan for more. Sitting on loads of coins is nice but there will be a point when you want to sell or spend some.
With the unique(?) PoS concept, it would be a good instrument for investors looking for alternatives to direct FIAT investments. Would this be a niche to occupy?
Newbie question: Do I need to leave the wallet open for staking or does offline-time also count (like it works with XMG for example)?
At the moment all alt coins are speculative, nothing more, nothing less. Only BTC has "some" footprint in the financial world.
Coin is nothing more than a blockchain, a coin is as strong as its blockchain. If any financial institution was trying to decide to pick a blockchain to go with in order to provide services on it, one of the aspects they would consider is the network difficulty, the overall health of the chain and the de/centralization of it. So what I like about presstabs coins is that he finds creative ways to keep the chain strong, its up to service providers to realize this and use it if they please.
What gives BTC added value and consideration is the network diff. However, I believe BTC is on a path of centralization to handful of ASIC manufactures and is very resource wasteful.
I believe PoS is the future as it wastes no resource and could be just as secure.
So by presstab experimenting with different methods to incentives stakers, he is fine-tunning and finding ways to create a PoS blockchain that will one day be just as secure as bitcoin if not more, plus added features with none of the resource waste.
Hyperstake has one of the highest diffs of in the realm of PoS coins because of the incentive and inflation control structure.
Within IRC #Ratecoin, Presstab has discussed his plans for XRA, which I found them to be very innovative and exiting, I personally cant wait. (I'll let him elaborate on this)
btw, what also makes XRA and HYP stand out is the fun factor of staking, given the inflation controls and specs in place, it makes it worth wile to get hands on with staking, to try out different strategies, utilize his blockexplorer to figure out how to optimize your staking.
So its really not developers job to find financial uses for the blockchain, his "job" is to keep optimizing the chain and not waste his energy on things that he might not even be good at. Thats for the community and service providers to figure out, he should stick to what he does best, Innovate and improve his creations.
Offline time still counts (Input weight still increases) however, it will only stake if the wallet/block is unlocked. So its best to keep it unlocked, this way, you would have better chance of staking sooner and in process compound faster.
