This is an auxiliary topic, we have one for each algo.

If you don't want to keep up with separate threads, you can still use the old topic.  Or, you can merge post in another coin's topic and talk about Unitus there while you're talking about your other coin.

haha, very good  Grin

Why the new thread? The original thread was setup and maintained during launch by neuroMode. He's not around here much these days, and the information there was old and stale. By starting a new one, I can keep it up to date with latest info.

Plans - I'm intending to start work on a port to the Bitcoin core 0.11 codebase. Not sure how much effort is required there. Have also been considering changing or adding some algorithms into the mix. Happy for you guys to make some suggestions on this, or in fact anything related.

It would also be nice to have a working block explorer - I've tried but have had issues, perhaps someone with more time could step up and take this on.

Anybody home?
Can we buy something with Unitus in a shop? I do not mean the usual T-shirt stuff.. Or mine till we drop?
Everything about this coin seems to be about mining, not demand.

I'm launching a web shop to sell e-books and music - Unitus will be accepted.

And, since I'm adding Unitus to CoinPayments.net, all merchants who use CoinPayments checkout will be able to accept Unitus.

And I'm also launching a new website as an auxiliary Unitus page, with links and info, and I will be hosting the recent blockchain as a downloadable .zip file!  New wallet installations just got several hours faster.

So everyone bring your links to your own pages, stores, or anything else you think would be good to add.

That is exactly the kind of thing I would like to add to my Unitus site!

If you have a link to it, I will link it.  If you want me to host it, I'll add a page to my site for your guide.

https://cann.suprnova.cc/  <- Merge mining CANN and UIS X11

The pool is called UNI instead of Unitus, and the "getting started" page has a dead link to "unituscoin.org" instead of unitus.info

I'm about to start mining, I guess I'll find out if it's actually for a different coin

OK. Here goes the shortish version:

1) Sync daemons for both Myriadcoin and Unitus, and set up conf files for both of them specifying rpcuser, rpcpassword, rpcport, algo=qubit, and server=1.

2) Install Python 2.7 and get:
Linux:
Code:
sudo apt-get install python-zope.interface python-twisted python-twisted-web
sudo apt-get install python-argparse # if on Python 2.6

Windows:
Install Python 2.7: http://www.python.org/getit/
Install Twisted: http://twistedmatrix.com/trac/wiki/Downloads
Install Zope.Interface: http://pypi.python.org/pypi/zope.interface/3.8.0
Install python win32 api: http://sourceforge.net/projects/pywin32/files/pywin32/Build%20218/
Install python win32 api wmi wrapper: https://pypi.python.org/pypi/WMI/#downloads

3) Download and unzip this repo somewhere, like /home/youruser/p2pool-myrQubit or c:\p2pool-myrQubit - https://github.com/birdonwheels5/p2pool-myrQubit

4) Build qubit.c hash
Linux:
Go to directory where you unzipped repo and go to qubitcoin-hash subfolder and run:
Code:
sudo python setup.py install

Windows:
Install MinGW.
Create the following file 'C:\Python27\Lib\distutils.cfg' (or wherever you installed python)
Add the following lines to distutils.cfg:
Code:
[build]
compiler=mingw32
Open MinGW and go to the directory where qubitcoin-hash is:
Code:
cd /c/p2pool-myrQubit/qubitcoin-hash
Then run:
Code:
/c/Python27/python.exe setup.py install
(or wherever you installed python)

5) Create a script to launch p2pool
Linux:
Create a file called launch_p2pool.sh or something with contents like:
Code:
python /path/to/p2pool/p2pool-myrQubit-master/run_p2pool.py --net myriadcoin --bitcoind-rpc-port 50554 --merged http://unitusRPCuser:unitusRPCpassword@127.0.0.1:50550 -a YourMyriadcoinAddress myriadRPCuser myriadRPCpassword

Windows:
Create a file called launch_p2pool.bat or something with contents like:
Code:
c:\python27\python.exe c:\path\to\p2pool-myrQubit-master\run_p2pool.py --net myriadcoin --bitcoind-rpc-port 50554 --merged http://unitusRPCuser:unitusRPCpassword@127.0.0.1:50550 -a YourMyriadcoinAddress myriadRPCuser myriadRPCpassword

6) Download sgminer from here if you're on windows: http://cryptomining-blog.com/4819-new-sgminer-with-optimized-quark-and-qubit-kernels/
Otherwise just download latest release from nicehash or build from github. By default you will mine on port 5567, so stratum+tcp://127.0.0.1:5567, and you can set your username to be a myr address (or whatever I think), and don't forget to add "no-extranonce": true in the pool fields.

Let me know if you have any problems or anything.

Alright, looks great.

I'm really excited about the new website.  I know there's already a Unitus homepage, and I have links to that too, but I think having more sites will show that there are a lot of people involved, and that's it's really a decentralized project for everyone.

Hopefully a little cross-promotion will attract some attention from people who aren't already involved in Bitcoin.  I'm presenting Unitus as a payment method without talking about Bitcoin, and emphasizing the benefits and the 25% off in my store.  Then my store also has links to the Unitus site.  Once CoinPayments.net has it added, it will be easy for more people to accept Unitus.  Hopefully some other people will also offer discounts to get people interested in UIS, and I can link everybody's sites.  And CoinPayments makes it easy by letting you set a discount percentage for each coin.  That way, you can mark everything with one price, and if they checkout with PayPal then it's full price, but if they use Unitus then the discount is calculated with the exchange rate.

But I'm waiting for everything to be ready together before I launch anything, since the store helps the Unitus page and the Unitus page helps the store.  It will be at least a couple of weeks before I get more content ready for my store, and also hopefully by that time we'll be closer to ready with being added at CoinPayments.
