I find it hard to believe anyone is having problems mining this.   Run the wallet,  add some nodes in the debug console "addnode x.x.x.x add" for each node IP, wait a few minutes for it to sync the last 12 hours of blockchain data then once you are synced start mining by hitting the engage button or "setgenerate true -1" in the console.  Even on a crappy intel i3 3.30ghz desktop I found a block in 1 hour.  good luck and great coin dev!

The metrics of solo mining vs pool mining are a bit different. On a pool fractions of each block are distributed to everyone mining based upon work submitted. In solo mining all mining equipment is mining for the chance of minting an entire block. It may take a little longer to see some coins or hit a block, but when you do you will get the entire block to yourself. Good luck on your next few blocks

It was an orphan block. Your miner thought it had solved it but actually someone else solved it just before you did and he was credited with the block and not you.

thanks, atleast I know I am mining....so in theory more cores allocated means better chance of solving a block?

All you have to do is click engage We wanted to make it as simple as downloading and clicking a button. Be patient, get a nights rest on it and wake up to some blocks. There will be another period in which block reward goes back to 500 as an equilibrium on Hash/Diff/Value is met.

A CPU miner was put together buy Elbandi_ on IRC and it appears to be working if you can compile from source yourself.

100% cpu usage will not harm your computer.

But what might is a high temperature if you do not have adequate cooling, download a temperature monitor and keep an eye on it
