No such thing as democratic socialism. It is a concept only a 12yo believing in Santa would want.

It's what america has. Sanders may try to change it to be more like the democratic socialism america had in the past. The other candidates may change it to be more in favor of corporations. Probably including trump.

Ok Venezuela. Not a bad example. Don't know if it can all be blamed on the socialist reforms though. A lot comes from other places. Them relying on oil and failing to diversify the economy. Corruption. Inequality. Outside interference. And a lot of those problems existed before the reforms started too. Relevant because Venezuela isn't the only country trying this type of socialism in the region. Similar backgrounds but different outcomes. Look at bolivia for example.

You love socialism.
I don't because it has failed over and over again.

Not that bernie is proposing socialism. More like democratic socialism. But can you give me a few examples of countries that had socialism? Hope you are not going to say soviet union.

You can google this yourself, my dear comrade.
Socialists always want other people to do their job for them. And demand to share the wealth at the end...

Absolutely not the idea of socialism. But please continue with your extremely logical economic system based on infinite growth in a finite universe.

The universe is not finite. For our human scale and our life expectancy the universe is pretty much endless.
Here the word "universe" refered to exploitable environment, which means earth.

Absolutely wrong and another proof of your ignorance. Many social animals are far closer to socialists than to capitalists. In fact the most developped social animals are always socialists. Easy examples would be the bees or the ants.

Because giving education to everyone is hating happiness. Good to know.

Education wasn't created by socialism. Free education is not free. Competition is part of life. You cannot share everything equally. That is why you need to force people to do the sharing at the end, before the obvious socialism collapse.

Socialism can never work for millions. Never did. Never will.

Of course. Which is why we're talking about socialism and not communism... And there is a middle to be found between sharing everything equally and not sharing anything at all... Which is called socialism...

I'm tired of discussing with you. you don't know the meaning of the words you use. You have no knowledge of history, biology or evlution. You ignore the fact that people seem happier in socialists countries, that capitalism is not only stupid but also unsustainable...

And not only that, you just ignore the questions and refuse to see facts. This whole debate was about you affirming Trump is a free mind while Bernie is a puppet. And you never gave any argument concerning thos two assertions of yours.

If you don't want to discuss, don't post.

But but... I've created this thread... I can do whatever I want and I am far from being tired discussing with you.

 Cheesy

I thought ants and bees had a queen. Sounds more like a monarchy than socialism to me. What say you?

Ahah, you can do whatever you want for sure. But it doesn't mean it makes sense. Here again you're not only still ignoring the main question raised earlier, but you're also confusing two things that have nothing in common which are a political system and an economic system.

You mean like having hollande as a socialist president, but having caviar eating socialists working at the Euronext Paris?

Exactly, two completely different things Smiley

Glad you understood something today.

People pretending to care for the lower class by voting for a socialist, while eating caviar with banksters, making deals to protect their own privilege.

Glad I understood something today

Yep. This is a cancer and America does not want this.

 Smiley

This cancer seems a little healthier than the free capitalist cancer of USA. It leads to a less important wealth concentration and poverty. But keep your own disease if you want ^^

Finally a Petrossian Socialist tells the truth: socialism leads to less wealth for everyone, more misery for everyone, killing the industry for everyone, pushing new ideas away from the country, creating a stagnation, locking the rich and the poor in place.

 Smiley

Like every time, rather than giving actual arguments you prefer putting words in my mouth. Never said anything like that as it's a stupid reasonning based on nothing. If socialism meant stagnation how could France be the leading industry in domains like aeronautics or energy?

Everything you said was highlighted. I did not change a word or a coma. You came up with that conclusion.

Dassault has one big client for years and years: France. Until the Egyptian deal recently. The Falcon planes are pretty cool. Bombardier is losing a lot of that market share.

Major public investments, artificially maintained alive like zombies, thanks to the french tax payers.

A sad reminder of what a democratic socialist's brain looks like

Published on Nov 12, 2015

A painful exchange with a young student who's organizing for free public colleges, cancellation of all student debt and $15/hour minimum wage for all campus employees. She doesn't really know how to pay for it, unfortunately.

Chinese news agency says April Fools' Day is 'inconsistent' with socialist values

We're pretty sure this isn't a joke.

The Xinhua news agency has warned its followers on Sina Weibo, a popular Chinese microblogging website, of the pitfalls presented by the first of April.

SEE ALSO: Father pulls hilariously cruel April Fools' Day prank on his kids

"April Fool's Day is not in keeping with our national cultural tradition or socialist core values," the traditionally rigid agency wrote in a post. "Please do not believe, create or spread rumors."

Assuming the agency wasn't joking in its warning, Chinese Internet users lambasted it in the comments — before they were quickly disabled.

"In the West, it only happens one day a year; however, in certain Asian countries, it is every day, every year," one user posted, according to Shanghaiist.

"The media is publishing false news to fool people every single day, what difference is one more?" wrote another.

Some users, however, seemed to agree with the cultural stand.

"I strongly agree with Xinhua," one user wrote in a post translated by the Wall Street Journal. "Chinese people should have our own cultural confidence."

The Chinese government's insistence against Western values is no joke. The authorities there have taken steps in recent years to restrict American and European cultural influence.

In 2013, for instance, police arrested hundreds in a crackdown against Internet users who spread false rumors.

And in 2015, the country's education minister warned against "Western values" that might appear in its school system's textbooks.

Sometimes, its the country's own media organizations that are hoaxed by Western pranks.

Li Zhurun, an ex-Xinhua reporter, said last year that a 1981 story he wrote citing a hoax report about West Point cadets learning from the lessons of a model Chinese soldier amounted to "one of the biggest mistakes in my life."

And People's Daily, the official newspaper of the Communist Party, was duped by an article in The Onion in 2012 declaring North Korean leader Kim Jong-un to be the sexiest man alive.

"With his devastatingly handsome, round face, his boyish charm, and his strong, sturdy frame, this Pyongyang-bred heartthrob is every woman’s dream come true," that article stated, which was excerpted alongside photos on People's Daily showing Kim on a beautiful white horse.

The Onion later added a note to its coverage.

"For more coverage on The Onion's Sexiest Man Alive 2012, Kim Jong-Un, please visit our friends at the People's Daily in China, a proud Communist subsidiary of The Onion, Inc.," it wrote, adding, Exemplary reportage, comrades."

"We have realized it is satirical," one wrote, according to The Telegraph, in taking it down. "I can't say anything yet," said another, clearly unamused at the prank.

Have something to add to this story? Share it in the comments.

Chinese news agency says April Fools' Day is 'inconsistent' with socialist values

That makes no sense. And not sure the chinese have so much to say about socialist values that this story belongs in a bernie sanders thread. Again, not that sanders is proposing socialism. And not that china is socialist. Except maybe self-proclaimed socialism.

If it really happened, best example why they should have april fools' day. Also, freedom of speech.

Certainly.  But I need your help.  Start acting and thinking and posting like an ant.

Then let everyone judge how socially advanced you are.

Yes indeed: please start posting like the each and every person of the thousands around you are all your genetic brothers and sisters and Big Mommy does almost nothing except squeeze out more brothers and sisters.

Still waiting for a reply from "Nature is based on democratic socialism" crap.

My simpleton view: Free Market Capitalism vs. Communism opposition/incompatibility reminds me a bit of the Quantum Mechanics vs. General Relativity's one.

On a scale of a tribe or a family communism is more practical, in theory. Once you reach a certain amount of humans, socialism and communism implode like a dying star and capitalism makes much more sense on a country, continent, planet or galactic scale.

Hope better ways to distribute resources will exist before we go for the galaxy. For now, why socialism or capitalism only? Why not a mix of both? Not the mix we live in in most of europe, america, south america, etc. But for example using codetermination like in Germany. Then expanding from there. Not necessarily replacing capitalism.

Shrewd! Add to that the fact that our wetware seems equipped to deal with ~150 people as unique individuals - ~150 and no more - and also add the fact that we subconsciously use those ~150 as allegories for the billions of people we can't possibly get to know, and you've got the basic recipe for a lot of feel-good 'ideals'. Especially amongst folks who grew up in tight-knit families or neighbourhoods. Or for that matter, have had sheltered lives.

Capitalism is about the maximizing the stuff you have, replacing it with better, smaller, cheaper, faster stuff.  By the time we'll be ready to hope from solar systems to solar systems, the cost per human will be as much as a round trip ticket on a greyhound bus.

By that time capitalism may not even be called capitalism anymore. But socialism is not compatible with star trekking because of its lack of vision in the future.

So capitalism builds the starship. The centralized computer in it will be in charge of all the multiple groups of mega pods with 150 humans in them...

Not a fan of startrek tng then? They were all socialists there you know? Except the ferengi. But I don't know that socialism is incompatible with having more, better, cheaper, faster stuff. It isn't the priority though. Unless the people in the society want it to be. Not likely. But there is nothing stopping that from happening if mentalities change. That compared to capitalism where decisions are made by the few who own stuff.

A lot of sci-fi authors are socialists.

Big fan of TNG but, again, this works because everything happens inside a tribe shaped as a starship. Everything needed can be replicated at will. Almost infinite magic energy. Money is banned. Wars gone. The only fat people are crazy looking aliens. The only goal is to explore forever with a crew and a mission and no family, or very little.

No room for the dreamers, or just a few. No room for a king or a prince. We have a captain, a supreme leader... Etc, etc...

Yep. TNG is the perfect definition of socialism in space.
