If anything can be said about this, it is the last chance for $2 shift before phantom gets released, before multi-market exposure, before any active marketing whatsoever. As of now, Shift is the only decentralized internet project with a working Beta. Maidsafe has been around for a decade, has gone through initial funding, an ICO, crowdfunding, and is still--assuming it does not get pushed back again--weeks away from an Alpha 2 release. As far as I can tell, the only advantage it has going for it over Shift is brand awareness. Blockstack seems promising, but it is still ways away from a cohesive product, and their own tokens won't be rolled out for another few months anyway. Sia and Storj have the potential to build a decentralized internet on top of their storage platforms, but I doubt they have any plans to do so over the next couple of years, let alone to seriously meditate on the idea.
The fact of the matter is, companies like Shift are chasing an industry that is worth $17 Trillion. Granted that number is based on the internet in its entirety, but if Shift manages to grab a slice of the pie, we are still dealing with a cryptocurrency with the potential to join the multi-billion dollar market cap club. I cannot think of a more undervalued coin than shift: it is ahead of its competitors, is valued at 10x less than Maidsafe, currently has very little hype, and most importantly has solid real-world applicability.
well said shift has HUGE potential.

this is to build websites?
Why would people need that?
Front end has to be great to even matter, can they attract businesses on shift? Gonna be tough, no?
I do not understand the added value of a blockchain behind a website.
Also, what is this voting about? Do you earn money when you vote? I see it costs 1 shift to even vote..

Imagine I am a web developer. I exactly understood nothing from that answer. except maybe GUI. Do I get templates? Can I use a merchant application for payments? Does it integrate with social media? Or is that another layer in between? Who is the customer of SHIFT? Edit: Also, EOS is going for ICO. Is this similar to EOS? I realize you must be ahead in development. How do you think you will get the investors behind you to outbeat EOS fuzz/buzz.? Or they will roll over this project in 1 year?

These are idiotic questions and shows you dont know anything about the tech, or anything about blockchain for that matter as he's just explained shift to you You need to do way more research Start here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/InterPlanetary_File_SystemIPFS is a new protocol..like http is a protocol. IPFS is creating a new infrastructure at the very foundation of the web that you build on top of

Hi, a couple of weeks ago I voted for 4 delegates. 1 delegate (seatrips) send me some shift back I assume as a reward for voting for them, thank you, but that was a couple weeks ago. The other 3 have not sent given me anything. Is this in the normal course of events? Do you think I voted for some bad delegates and been short-changed (except it seems seatrip)? Should I expect more rewards from them ?

As I have been reading on EOS, it is planning to compete against Ethereum/Ethereum Classic. I see is as Ethereum but with Dpos instead of Pow/Pos. It seems likely to me that dApps could potentially be developed in EOS which will offer the same functionality with Shift Dapps and developers may do so in the future once the EOS platform is released; Not sure how it will play out. Right now a EOS token is worth 3 dollars resulting in a 3 billion marketcap, while the shift network is 20 million. Potentially, the shift network could become an alternative to EOS and if so, it is very very cheap right now. If this is a winner take all game then I think shift faces stiff competition for its ambitions; maybe there will be room for various alternatives though, or shift can carve out a niche that will make it successful but not the top dog, that is if it fails to become the top dog.

I depends on your voting weight and not all delegates run as pools. The following delegates are pools (sharing percentage varies); seatrips, gregorst, shiftraider, shiftspider, bawga, shiftpool, jamiec79, official_pool, djandre (from saluki on the Ryver chat) Most pools have websites that you can check your stats such as; https://pool.gregorst.org/https://pool.seatrips.nl/The forging reward for Shift is fairly low (1 Shift per block) so depending on your weight it might take a bit to reach a payout threshold. Usually it's .1 around 1 from what I've seen.

Hey, I'm fairly new to coin mining, so I was wondering if someone could help start me off with Shift. I did a bit of research and it seems that all the Shiftcoin pools that I have found are offline, or require you to already possess SHF. Any help?
Thanks in advance, Raze.

SHIFTs idea is to make decentralized webhosting possible, meaning, instead of a central server somewhere, you host your content via IPFS in a cloud of peer-to-peer users, who are rewarded in SHIFT. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Is this coin the first IPFS ready coin?
There is Atmos, it has a file sharing network using IPFS in place.
