Do you think that Leverkusen can be a title contender together with Bayern Munich this season?

I have started to think about this seriously. Because with Xabi Alonso they are really something else. First he came to the team and saved them from a dangerous area in the standings. He didn't even make do with that and they made it to the Europa League group stage.    After this huge progress the board extended with him until 2026. Now we are witnessing them making a solid start to the season despite playing not having very comfortable matches on paper. I'm even wondering whether Real Madrid would like to try to bring him next summer after Ancelotti leaves.

They could be likely contenders especially as their performance since the beginning of the season has been impressive but then again the season is quite fresh and I'm expecting a lot of upsets from Union Berlin. Currently they are occupying the first position, sharing six points each with Bayern Munich.
 Xabi Alonso is quite confident that they'd win their home game against Darmstadt when they meet on Saturday and I'm not thinking that will be a difficult game because Darmstadt having not had any win since the start to the season and they just look like an easy three points to any club. Their home and away performance has been excellent so I look forward to them being another form of threat to Bayern who have before now been rulers of the Bundesliga.

Leverkusen have faced tough opposition in their opening two matches of the season. In the first match they played against Leipzig, and in the second match Leverkusen played against Gladbach. And in both matches we saw the power of Leverkusen's players. Most importantly, Leverkusen's match strategy has changed. This is why the team is performing well. Leipzig's attack was strong, which is why Leverkusen kept their defense tight in this match and then attacked. Leverkusen didn't attack too much in this match. We saw against Gladbach that they played attacking from the beginning of the match. Gladbach put their players under pressure. As a result they failed to counterattack. Leverkusen performed well in both matches.

Whether or not Leverkusen will compete with Munich for the title will be seen in Leverkusen's match against Bayern Munich on September 16. If Leverkusen plays well against Munich, Leverkusen will undoubtedly aim for the Bundesliga title this season.

This is just the start of the season. I am not going to trust any team to give Bayern Munich trouble to defend the Bundesliga title, just based on the first few matches. I know Leverkusen is improving right now. But I still don’t think that we can actually say that they will give Bayern Munich a proper competition for the Bundesliga title.

To be honest I'm not sure, I think Leverkusen's target is to finish in the top four of the Bundesliga. that is, if Xabi Alonso's squad is able to make it happen. But that doesn't mean Leverkusen doesn't have hopes of becoming a competitor to Bayern Munich. The problem is however, in terms of team depth and player quality, Bayern is one level above Leverkusen.

I just read a report that they are thinking about trying to get Bremen German national Niclas Füllkrug in exchange for $around 10 million and a loaned Youssoufa Moukoko.

That would be a great deal for both teams because Füllkrug is connected with plenty of teams and if a team was reportedly willing to pay 20 million for him they are ready to talk. Him leaving before the transfer window closes would be a tough hit for their season of course.

Getting Moukoko, even though  am totally not a fan of him, would close the gap Füllkrug is leaving, and with some money they would be able to sign smeone else anytime soon.

For Dortmund this would be the perfect scenario. They get a good striker that can play with or behind Haller and on the other side, Moukoko can hopefully develop into a good player finally. He is very you and has a lot of upside, his performance though is not really good though, at least that's what I think. You can't play him as a starter.

They are really able to develop the abilities and quality of their young players so that they get the attention of top European teams and sell them at high prices. Gladbach couldn't make a good start to the season. But we never know how good they can play in this big game. They would try to benefit from their psychological superiority to Bayern Munich here. But I think this time Bayern Munich will put an end to this bad streak against them with the help of Kane.

We saw union Berlin, having good performance at the start of the season in the last season. They were pretty consistent in the first 10 matches. That actually made me think that they will give Bayern Munich a competition. But they were not able to perform consistently throughout the whole season. They have even started this season pretty good. But that does not mean they are going to give good competition to Bayern Munich. I think that is exactly the same thing which will happen with Leverkusen. They are a good team and they are improving. They have also started the season well. So we are thinking maybe they will be consistent throughout the whole season. But I definitely don’t think that is going to happen.

This season, Union Berlin has brought in several newcomers to add to the strength of their team's squad. some of them are loan players, one of them is the young striker Fotana who is on loan from Chelsea. which means, they will prepare to compete at the top of the Bundesliga standings. They have won the first two matches smoothly, now Union Berlin is at the top of the standings.  smooth start, but the question is, can they maintain their consistency. I'm not sure, especially since Union Berlin has such a busy schedule.
Apart from competing in the Bundesliga competition, Union Berlin will test the quality of their team in the Champions League competition. For now, Union Berlin can focus on matches in the Bundesliga. What's interesting is that this week Union Berlin will host another strong team, namely Leipzig. We can see how prepared the two teams are to compete for full points, it will be interesting for us to wait.

While Leverkusen, as I said in the previous post, what they are targeting is to finish in the top four of the standings. but that does not mean Leverkusen will not put pressure on Bayern Munich. At least, Xabi Alonso will maximize his team to go as far as they can. Well, let's just see if the Bundesliga offers anything interesting this season, it's interesting for us to wait.

You're right partially, but in the world of football nothing is impossible and it might come as a surprise that Leverkussen wins the Bundesliga though the odds for that is very high, for instance there was a time in the Epl when Leicestercity just got promoted to the EPL and took everyone by suprise and won the league, so nothing is impossible, it's just that the Leverkussen are not very strong enough to challenge for the title which has been dominated by Bayern Munich over the years, talk more of now that they've even strengthened their squad depth and got a perfect striker that's capable of scoring goals in every match day.
 To me I feel the Club that would likely challenge Bayern Munich for the title this season is either Borussia Dortmund or Leipzig, well the season just started so I'll wait till it gets to the middle of the season and see the strength of Leipzig before concluding if they'll be league contenders or no.

Leicester is an exception to the rule, I don’t know how they managed it, but I think that this will not happen again soon. In the Bundesliga, I don’t know such examples, the dominance of Bayern is too significant here and their main rival is Dortmund, but even they find it difficult to compete with Bayern. The clubs have slightly different goals, Bayern aims to win the Champions League, and Dortmund aims to educate young talented players and sell them, it is clear that this will affect the team's goals and their results.

Of course, priorities may be different for Dortmund, but I think they want to take the championship title from Bayern Munich now. They had a chance until the last game last year, but they handed the trophy to Bayern in the last game. That's why I don't think Bayern will lose in the Bundesliga anymore. As if the trophy somehow goes to Bayern Munich.

Personally I still don't think Dortmund's goal is to win the title. It is true that they played well last season. They played well throughout the season, and if they could have won the last match, they could have been champions. But if Dortmund were aiming to win the title, they would have strengthened their squad. But they didn't do that. Their purpose is to do business. They sold Bellingham, one of the best players in their squad, to Real Madrid. If Dortmund's goal was to win the title, they would not have sold the best players in the squad. This is why I think we will only see Bayern Munich dominate this season.

Well, I do not think there is a club that will not go for the cup deliberately, only that the case of Dortmund is too obvious and all fingers are pointing to the fact that they are in for the business. They sell their key players as if it were nothing and the painful part is that those players later become the shining star in other clubs to the extent of winning awards.

Still, I wouldn't blame them much for that, it's part of what clubs were made for, to make money and get the glory. And no matter how desperate Dortmunt is for the money, they are always trying their best to be at the forefront, which I think is good enough. They will make more money and also be a good contender too. There are clubs holding their best players but can't even perform as much as them, so it's still a very good tactic. And one day, they will win many trophies in a single season.
