It depends what competition you are looking at. Playing well in the Bundesliga when everybody plays bad in the Bundesliga is not a big thing I guess. But playing well in the Champions League against opponents is what really counts for them and so far they have lost big time against Barcelona and against Aston Villa. If you take the average of their performances from all competitions, reality is that so far they didn't leave the best impression about their chances in the Champions League. I can't imagine how they would be able to beat Barcelona next time if they met again in the next rounds. They are missing this last piece against good teams when they are in front of their box. Harry Kane isn't doing well either in the Champions League, he is way too slow.

Dortmund are historically tough opponents for Bayern but the next game against them is definitely not important. Bayern dominates the Bundesliga and has a 6 point advantage over 2nd place (and that's Eintracht lol) so any result won't be a problem. Bayern Munich has won more games in this fixture and it’s almost like Dortmund are really not much of a threat to them, i don’t think there will be much difference this time around because Bayern Munich is currently on a 6 game winning streak and they are 6 points ahead of 2nd place and 10 points ahead of Dortmund so i don’t see Bayern losing this game. Dortmund need to win or draw else they will lose their current position to either Freiburg or Monchengladbach and Bayern Munich also needs to win to maintain their winning streak and keep extending their points.

Dortmund inconsistency this season has made them to become a struggling team they have already lost to Mainz and Ausburg already this season which is really bad for them so they need all the points they can now to cover up for the points they’ve lost. There is still hope for them to at least challenge for a top four spot.
