They still have the quality players since they retained most players who made them champions last season. What is certain now is that they will not maintain their unbeaten run this season since they have already lost a game. The Xabi Alonso side was defeated by RB Leipzig making them to lose three points. The league is competitive with good sides like Bayern Munich with some of the best players in Europe. The surprising leader of the table now is Heidenheim, while Leverkusen is in the eighth position.

Yeah there is still much hope for Leverkusen as the league is merely beginning so it is too early to tell that they won’t be a contender this season. They are just 3 points behind league leaders after losing their last game to Leipzig at home, it’s a shame if you ask me but but i believe they would definitely improve their game and correct any mistakes they have made.
They really have the advantage by retaining most of their players despite various teams showing interest in their players and also they are lucky to have not lost the coach as well Xabi Alonso that received lots of offers from bigger clubs but still chose to stay.

Besides it is better to see them losing finally honestly.    Of course I was very glad to see them putting an end to Bayern Munich's unreal title streak in the Bundesliga. It is only a few people that are expecting Bayern Munich to win this season's trophy. Many people are still keeping hope in Leverkusen to win it again this season. Regarding Dortmund who are considered to always prioritize their business, I think that is also true, but that does not mean Dortmund ignore the quality of their performance as well. Because anyway,  even though Dortmund often sells great players, but because Dortmund still manages to compete in the upper zone in the Bundesliga standings, then I think that is proof that Dortmund always strives to become a title candidate team. Moreover, the player purchases made by Dortmund for this season are also fairly good and thus, I still believe Dortmund will compete in the top four to compete in the title race this season.
