Ok, for some reason I can't flash my miner. I browse to the file, attempt to flash it, wait for it, the screen times out, then I refresh and get this error:
System Upgrade Failed
tar: invalid magic tar: short read
So something just ain't right with it.
I'm using the SD-S7-20151023-600M.tar file downloaded directly from bitmaintech's support site. Anyone else having this issue?
i would just delete the file, then re-download (don't untar!) and try again. the file was good before Weird, still not working, I dl'd it again, left it as the .tar.gz file and tried the upgrade. Again, connection gets reset after about 10-15 seconds, I try to refresh and get the same error. what connection? your computer/laptop to miner? maybe leave it alone and do something with laptop:on a mac i would say repair permissions, but on windows? is there some kind of desktop or C drive repair program? It's from my PC over the network to the miner. I'm going to go out on a limb and highly doubt it's a permissions thing when other people do not have a problem whatsoever transferring it over and installing it.

Transaction fees go to the pools and the pools decide to pay them to the miners. Anything else, including off-chain solutions are stealing and not the way Bitcoin was intended to function. Make the block size set by the pool. Pool = miners and they get the choice.

When I stand behind the 42u rack with 12 s7's in it it feels like a furnace. Four 30 amp circuits, 3 s7's per circuit, datacenter only allows 21.6 amps to be used for each circuit.
hmmm.... 3s7's are only about 16 amps. 4 is less then 22amps at 80% is 24 amps.. find another datacenter at 208v 3 s7's are 18amps. $1000 per rack all inclusive 2 miles from my house. I think I'll stay. Only $750 after tax deduction. mine are 220, hence the discrepancy. how many 30 amp circuits will they allow you to use on one rack? Don't have enough miners to find out. I think they would install another whip (2 30 amp circuits) Have the space for another six but for me heat seems a bit intense for one rack. They would probably charge more per month. Haven't popped the question. It is a tier 4 datacenter, I don't use the power redundancy, I use both circuits on a whip to run different miners, not one main circuit and one backup. The amperage threw me off when I went from 240v at home to the datacenter 208v. I started out with two circuits and it turned out that I didn't have enough amps to run all the miners I brought from home so I had to have another whip pulled.

My local UPS if they skip you or for some reason you miss it you can go to the local distribution hub and pick it up if the truck is back and they are open. You might go there in person. I've had better luck showing up saying I missed package then if I called ahead. They can look up what truck it's on so it takes 5-10 minutes. But all depends on if you have a nice person at front desk. Some are much easier to work with then others.

Shipping Wise, you may want to try out each carrier and find out which one works the best for you. UPS definitely does great job on most part but depends on the area, it may not be the perfect option. Some area, DHL does super great and some area FedEx can do better than others and EMS works on some over any other carriers. Even tho UPS can do good job, they did this as well... so its all depends on your country, area, drivers and etc https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KvAak4MAnqkChanging the delivery date, or delivery destination can work for you but often time cause 1 extra business day of delay or more or mis-hap with the packages. (if you plan it well, it works great, too or in an emergency, it can work well, but please be careful of making any change request) S7 Firmwarehttps://bitmaintech.com/support.htm?pid=00720151023101739550pOBiK5sO06A0If you encounter this System Upgrade Failed tar: invalid magic tar: short read
Please check what web browser you are using. *Thanks to pj40, if if the upgrade/flash does not work via Firefox browser, please use other browsers. Chrome works, IE works, Opera works! Did you call or do it on the website using My Choice? On the website it's quite clear that it changes the day as they force you to agree to that when making the change.. If you called it's frustrating if they didn't tell you..

If you called it's frustrating if they didn't tell you.. thanks. basically, i did not want to waste part of the day waiting for it. AFTER i made the change (maybe i did not notice the stuff re date as it was not explicit in any way) for the WHOLE day the web site said delivery estimate-FRIDAY, then I called and they were feeding me the same line ("Customer service says that it will be delivered today"). If the first person firmly said that it will be delivered on monday and if you want it today, we can arrange it to go to the hub, then i would be fine with it. Bottom line, i am out of maybe 0.1 BTC, no biggie, it just felt unfair, but I'm over it already.

What cables did you link that I could use to run two s7's off of one controller? I am doing some housekeeping and that would clean up some of the wiring. Thanks in advance! Ufo

Ufo I have heard this many times, running 2 S7s on one controller. Other than the cost savings of 1 less ethernet cable which would be offset by the cost of new longer 18 pin cables; What is the reason/savings in doing something like this?

Spare controllers since I have nine and plan on getting some more, also fewer tabs to monitor. Ufo

I like it because when a miner craps out it leaves all the stats for that miner frozen for you to check.
