there are certain circumstances where it makes sense to borrow money in other situations. If you had a ticket that was going to pay out 150-1 on the Astros winning the world series or 80-1 for the Rangers, you could borrow money to make some other bets to guarantee yourself a healthy profit.

Which is what everyone seems to be missing in this thread by talking in absolutes. You probably won't make money gambling, you probably shouldn't borrow money to gamble, but if you can find +ev bets and/or situations (which is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT, but possible) both can make sense.

When any one try to become rich from gambling way then most probably then may lose their money and end up nothing in hand so it is better gamble only part time for fun and if you though you win some money don't take it seriously and go for bigger bets to make more money. Yes there will be profitable if you really play it for safe, earn it little by little and dont be too greedy. I know this is shorterm thats why you need to be safer to play rather than spend all your money just in one night. And investment in gambling? How are you going to do that? Most gambling site didnt open a investment for us because they have enough balance cover the loss, thats why they open gambling site. If they dont have any backup finance to paid the customer no one will play in their site

IIRC dooglus was even at one point suggesting people to try the sites and no one really expect the two sites to scam. And they turned out to be scams later. Yeah possibility of happening that again has a chance that is why gambling is risky. But if I want to gamble, I'd rather choose to invest in gambling site's bankroll than playing against the house. Many people believe in that but there are some people that always play for fun and never believe what will happened next hit the jackpot and they continue to play and start winning by then. How are you going to explain this? Because there will be no gurantee that you will win or lose in long term game
