it's easy to answer , bitcoin the first ever cryptocurrency well known more than any other cryptocurrency, developing smoothly and established. so why people should make bitcoin as second choice when they have a lot of benefit in bitcoin rather than any altcoin? if you ask a common people about bitcoin or namecoin , they would say have heard about bitcoin than the other.

Who would not like the father of all cryptocurrency Other alternative coins are fork? copied from bitcoin platform. Since it its the piooner coin, it is popular and peopl already trust it and invest. That is why, it has a value now.

As quoted bitcoin has got more acceptance comparatively, because it is the one that generated with the unique features. Over the years different digital currencies following the same technology got generated. On the whole this is the one that survived long and grew gradually.

The better a coin is the more you can buy with it directly. We need more coins to support direct payments so we have something other then bitcoin to make purchases. to me most most of the people are comparing bitcoin with USD and the reason is that USD is one of the most popular fiat currency of the world and almost all the people of the world know about it and its price any time. some people also compare it with their own currency as to know the actual amount that you have in form of bitcoin.

One of the thing that you can do with fiat and you can not do with bitcoins is transferring money offline.
Yeah I know that everybody now days has a cellphone that is connected to an internet and I know that it is possible to transfer some pre loaded physical bitcoins but it is still an advantage of the fiat compared to bitcoins.
