They got caught off guard on that one. They probably didn’t expect Wemby to play since there was no report saying he was available, or maybe I just missed it. Either way, you could clearly see how effective the Spurs’ defense was. It started as a low-scoring game, everyone looked off, and from the second to the last quarter the Spurs were in control.

I got caught in it too. I thought it was a gift when I saw the live line at -4.5 since the original was -10.5, but it turned out bad. I lost the bet because OKC ended up losing the game.

Yes because he's been listed as probable to play against OKC, Wemby got injured and many think about that he cannot play against OKC. But lots of people got surprise when Wemby play then bring good impact for this win against OKC.

Wemby comes back against the league leading OKC Thunder. And guess what, they upset the top team in the NBA and beat them. It was a historic night for the Spurs as they stop the Thunder with a huge win. Wemby's presence was a instant impact to the Spurs.

He was like +20 when he was inside the game and really make it very hard for the Thunder to score when he was manning the inside. So with this win, the advances to the finals of the NBA cup and are going to face the Knicks who beat the Magic. Jalen Brunson was unstoppable in that game. The loss breaks the Thunder 16 game winning streak, although they are still in the pace to break the record of the Warriors for most win in a regular season.

Thats real upset, OKC did not expect Wemby to play today. WOW to SAS! I am pretty sure that today alot of people loss the bet and the banker collects it all.

He has 5 turnovers but i think it is just about to how the coach chooses to use him. Because this happens almost every game. The Spurs are a very good young shooting team, and they are very efficient, averaging close to 50% overall field goal percentage and shooting almost 40% from behind the arc. I could really say that DeAaron Fox's acquisition is very good for the team, as his style of play perfectly complements them. However, I don't think it would be enough to win against the OKC in a seven-game series. OKC having an off night and lost with just 2 points, which is just scary to think. They are shooting below their percentage and 9 of 37 from the deep. They could have won it but the Spurs deserve that win as they came back from a 16 point deficit and outscored them in 3 quarters.

Knicks - Spurs finale it is then!    The most interesting part of the night was indeed Spurs' being the team to end Thunder's lasting winning streak and record. Wembanyama's recovery had a serious role in that.

This cup format is quite new for Americans. They aren't used to this kind of things as much as Europeans. How do you see the future of this cup? I would be okay to see it more honestly.

Wow... Finally Thunder's series has come to an end.    They were 24-1 before this game you know. I was waiting for Spurs to be more resistant with Wembanyama's return. But a win by them was never a thing I expected.

But they’ll probably start another winning streak after this. So far, only two teams have beaten OKC this season. First were the Blazers, and now the Spurs. But the Spurs win feels more legit since both teams were well rested going into this NBA Cup semi.

Only by 2 points of course. Thunder had a 16-point lead in Q2 as far as I remember. All good things must come to an end though. This doesn't change the fact that Thunder are still the biggest championship contender by far.

That one loss doesn’t really mean much, but the Spurs will likely move up in the championship odds after that performance, especially if they end up winning the NBA Cup finals.

Haha, if a team gets Giannis, it's always a package that Thanasis should be with him.  
But what's good with Thanasis is that he's just having the good time of his life, he's probably having the best job ever because of his brother.
And that's why the Bucks know how to make this deal in favor of them and not let go of Giannis but if he wants to get out of the team, he can do it in his own terms.

That’s the perks of having a star player brother. He can have a dream job with a good salary for having a triple double stats in the bench (20 claps, 15 thrash talks and 10 high 5).

Nepotism and connection is certainly big in the NBA. I've heard that they would like to get Giannis but the most untouchable guy in the Lakers right now is AR. They won't be trading him for sure because if they do, it's like the Mavs trade of Luka sending them to another team and getting injury prone players. While it's a sure thing if Giannis lands on them, they'll get a better roster although his value is so much worth that even future picks will be involved.

I thought Thunder would beat Spurs with a gap on double digits especially after seeing their big lead in Q2. But it didn't last long for Spurs to close that gap. I really admired their passion for the win in this match.

Thus a big series by Thunder also comes to an end... However I agree with you about them. They are still the biggest favourites in playoffs. The team that play this coherently as a whole is absolutely Thunder.


Now the next match I'm waiting for the most Celtics - Pistons. One of the biggest duels in the Eastern Conference.

Warriors had 9 losses, so it's still possible to break that, they have 6 more losses to give before they fail so it is going to be possible, and even with 7 more losses they are tied so it's not a bad deal at all. I think it's clear that we are going to see OKC break it though.

There are 82 games, they played 26 so far and had only 2 losses, that makes it 92.3% for them at winning rate and at 82 games that means 75.6 wins, even if it's 75 wins, that's 7 losses. So they are still very much on track to win this easily, and they just got a loss now, so if they go on a bit more, like 20 more wins without a loss, which looks possible, odds will change so much more.

I know he is great but I didn't expect him to affect the game this much. He unexpectedly played and almost win the game. I wonder if the surprise effect is actually a thing for these kind of teams. OKC is not like unexperienced team of course, they are the reigning champions. Wemby playing kind of 'unexpectedly' would really affect them? Webmy has five turnovers, but I attribute that somewhat to the coach's own style of play. He does this in almost every game, and for a 2.24-metre player who is expected to drive the ball, these mistakes are tolerable against OKC.

We were all surprised by that, but even before Wemby came back, the Spurs were already playing well. They even beat the Lakers when they were still the underdogs at that time. So maybe OKC was just riding the hype from their winning streak, and we kind of forgot that the Spurs are also very capable of winning games.

Agreed, funny coincidence is the Pistons break their winning streak on the same NBA cup match while they struggle a couple of matches to get a W after their first lose of the season.

The advantage on OKC is they don’t feel any pressure even after losing a games that shown during their championship run last year. They will be fine and I believe this might be their regular season run like winning streak for long then reset and so on since they are unstoppable in the long run.

They're still on their way to beat that 73-9 record, but I think they don't even care about it. I mean they care more on the title more than the record alone. If they did it then great, but if they don't then that will not affect their morale going into the playoffs.

On the flip side though, this just shows that the Thunder isn't unbeatable - and they aren't TBH. We saw the Spurs and the Blazers defeating them, but speaking of the Spurs, it's a bit surprising to see them winning against the top team currently and that's even when Wemby is in limited minutes. How did they do it? Defense, and Coach Pop is one of the best when it comes to defense. I think that's the best way to defeat them. If you're not a great defensive team then you don't have any chance to defeat them.

Anyway, I really do hope that other teams will find a way to defeat the Thunder in the future because I mean it isn't good for the league to have a team that's just dominating and humiliating other teams for the whole regular season, right?

Yeah, like what I've said OKC still in upperhand when in comes to the final of ever they meet again for a game 7 series, but similar to your statement, I also admire how Spurs fought back and really shows determination then win that game.

Now the next match I'm waiting for the most Celtics - Pistons. One of the biggest duels in the Eastern Conference. 

Not sure but for me Tatum-less Celtics might be not as competitive compared if they are complete, though we don't know maybe they can also pull that upset.

Giannis said he wanted to go somewhere with "some sun" so that eliminates the Timberwolves and the Knicks, possibly even the Warriors.  He also said he wanted to play in a big market, so that might eliminate the Spurs.

When Brooks makes the 3 to give Phoenix the 1 point lead with 12sec to go he clearly was fouled by LBJ, no call.
In the last attack from the Lakers James takes a 3 and gets "fouled", which in my eyes he didn't because this was WAY less contact than the play before, he gets 3 free throws.

Warriors vs Blazers, what a game!!

Both teams are raining threes and what's amazing is that Chef Curry cook threes with 12 3-points made, but even with that they lost to Blazers. Blazers is 3-0 to GSW this year, that's mind blowing to be honest.

That was a crazy ending. I dislike Brooks so much that I’m happy seeing my hometown team lose if it means he takes an L.
