Kyrie Irving broke his left hand during an offseason workout and had surgery, and the Dallas Mavericks didn’t provide a timeline for his recovery in an announcement of the injury Tuesday night.

It is big, but the good thing is that it didn't happen during the regular season. With the current roster of Dallas, I think they don't need Kyrie at the beginning, and they can still make it to the playoffs. Luka will be improved as he failed in the NBA finals, so I'm expecting him to take on more of the carrying job for the team. At the same time, they also have Klay Thompson in his first year with Dallas, so he should be playing better than people's expectations.
I was shocked to read this news about Kyrie. And you're right that it's still fine that it happened not during the regular season because if it does, for sure that he'd miss a lot of games. Although he might still miss from the regular season but with the start of today, he'll be able to have more time to recover. I guess that Klay's on the move then if ever Kyrie won't recover at the very start of this season. I guess realizing the importance that some of the benchies have been traded is there.

With what happened, Klay will have more touches on the ball and more shot attempts since he is now the second-best player on the team. I hope Kyrie is fine and will be able to come back on time, but I'm excited to see how Klay Thompson will play with Dallas. It was a disappointment for him with the Warriors. A new environment will hopefully work well for him and provide a fresh start.

They traded to acquire players, those players acquired will be trained as well to fit with the system, so don't expect they'll struggle, as long as Luka is playing, everything should be fine.

Crazy news I didn’t expect to hear today… NBA Central is reporting that the State of New Jersey is in talks to acquire the Philadelphia 76ers. They think they’ll be able to pull it off by building them a new arena where its current ownership has failed to come up with a plan to do so. This is fascinating to me at the business level.

Won't happen.  Camden is brutal in terms of having people come in and parking.  Lots of city parking and it's one city you don't want to walk around in.  The sixers stadium is perfectly situated with the eagles stadium and the phillies.  Right in between them all is infinity live.  Check it out it's a ton of fun.  Huge sports bar type eating area.  I can't see why they would split form the other 2 to go to pretty much the murder capital of the country

While I do agree that Klay Thompson going to Dallas is a great thing for Dallas, at the same time Buddy Hield going to Warriors is a great thing for Warriors as well, they had a shooter and exchanged him for a younger shooter, that's not a bad move. Hield may not have the ceiling that Thompson had, but Hield at this moment in time could be better than Thompson if you ask me, so it is a good move for today.

Dalals on the other hand didn't lose much, just gave away some picks I think, and not really lose anyone important. With Kyrie breaking his hand, I am guessing that would be max 2 months of not playing, and maybe like lets say 1 more month just for rehab, but he will come back one way or another. Meaning that he will be ready for like 60+ games easily, and even if he misses some more, important part is playoffs mostly, so if he is ready by all-star game (which he 100% will be) then any injury is fine anyways.

Plus, Doncic is a ball handler, so there won't be an issue of who will playmake during the season even if Kyrie was missing. Thompson will bring in some plays from Warriors playbook and help Mavs get better as well, they will find some good screens and some free shooters.

It is a great move for all parties involved to be honest, because even if Warriors had figured out a way to keep Klay Thompson on their roster, the relationship has been ruined beyond repair and it's not just been between the franchise and Klay alone, there have been talks about fall out with Steph and Draymond Green too, so it order to make sure each player still feel committed to the same cause, it was necessary to to just let go, and as for Warriors, I believe they're actually just getting started because they'll still need a lot of rebuilding to do over a few years with Steph and Green being closer to the end as well.

The short answer. Money. I agree with you that it is unlikely, but current ownership is being confronted with a harsh reality. Sell the team and bank billions of dollars while New Jersey has to pay to build a new arena, or dump billions into their investment building a new arena. When investors are confronted with a pile of cash or a bill for a new stadium, the choice tends to be more about their personal investment goals.

TNT has less than a week to outbid other networks or lose NBA coverage…

A new environment will hopefully work well for him and provide a fresh start.
We'd see how their plays are when the actual season starts and that's interesting because they're able to reach the finals last season, and with this line up, they've just became stronger.

That's the hard part, they've got their main stays and although he's not prone to injuries, you'll never know when it happens.

The New York Knicks are pretty solid, but I'd choose the 76ers since they upgraded by getting PG. However, my dark horse in the East is the Miami Heat, especially with a healthy Jimmy Butler. Last playoffs, Butler was out due to injury, but in the prior season, they were a problem for the best teams in the East. So, I wouldn't count out this team, especially if they get some players that could help improve the roster.

To be clear, I'll rank them:

1-76ers
2-Knicks
3-Heat

I like to see how PG will bring his leadership and how both Maxey and Embiid will adjust as if those three stars will click it will form a good trio that can compete to anyone in the league, having a healthy EMbiid and a competitive types of playing from PG and Maxey surely they will developed good spark for the team.

Though I know for sure that after winning the title, Boston will keep that mentality and if possible they will continue to dominate the east side, if the managements will keep them all or will keep the core players, still a very big chance to win another title.

76ers adding Paul George is a big plus for them and then there's Tyrese Maxey who is getting better by gaining more experience. I think the key to winning here is Embiid in a healthy state too.

I like PG but he likes to do that load management shit and is pretty injury prone. If Embiid, who is also always injured, and PG both get injured around the same time and are out for long stretches Philly fans are going to be calling for some trades and coaches to be fired.

All of this depends on how they use their players of course. If they can sit PG and Embiid for long periods in the games and not wear them out, they will be able to dominate the East. If used alot then expect injuries and disappointment.

Crazy game against South Sudan today. No idea why it was so close but at least USA got the win. I’ll have to watch the game later and see what happened here. Seems like they were intentionally trying to make it an exciting game for some reason looking at the box scores.

Don't kid yourself just because he played 74 games last year doesn't mean anything.  He has had knee issues every year and has tons of nba miles on them things.  He is 34 and knee amd back issues always get worse with age.  I'd be highly surprised if he lasts the year without ending up on the injury list and dnp box score.

He played 74 yes and 4 years in row before last year he played a max of 56 games in a season and that was only once. Guy is good but as wheelz said, he is old and his knees are trash. Would I love to see him prove me wrong and kill it? Hell yes, I love PG when healthy and would love to see him in the NBA Finals. He was on my Pacers forever and have loved him since then, dude can play.

PG has a strong character as a player, and I admire his love for basketball because of that. Honestly, I thought his career was over after suffering a serious injury in the past, but here he is, back and still playing like his old self. There's a reason why he got a huge contract with the 76ers: he still looks like he is in his prime. PG has a decent three-point shot and can create his shots by attacking the paint as well. I think he could really help the 76ers reach the NBA Finals.

However, I'm hoping that they will change their strategy and not rely too much on Embiid, as that's when they become predictable, as we have seen in the playoffs. This team has no problem with their defense, but their offense is sometimes inconsistent, so having PG should provide a big relief for them.

Bronny James is getting a lot of criticism. After all, he is not a top 10 pick, you have to evaluate him based on where he was selected in the draft. He won't get a lot of minutes in the regular season, but the important thing is what he can do with them. Every year traditional and social media picks someone like this to make fun of, before it was Thanasis, now it's Bronny. It's important for the player to be able to handle this psychological pressure. If he passes this test, he can survive in the NBA.

He is getting criticism because he is taking someone else's spot.  Does anyone really think it's a mystery why he ended up on his dad's team.  If Lakers didn't sign bronny then lebron would have never resigned.  Lakers had no choice.  I feel bad for the kid because he will never come close to anything resembling his dad's career.  Not his fault but will always happen

If the Lakers win a championship next season, we can say that drafting Bronny was a good move. He might not be a big force in terms of offense, but if he can inspire his dad to play better and it results in a ring, then the criticisms should stop. All LeBron wants is to play with his son, and given the special player he is, he deserves some biases just this once. Eventually, he'll be a Hall of Famer, and LA will recognize him if he retires with a Lakers jersey. Bronny is more like Thanasis to Giannis, but Bronny's relationship with LeBron is more special as he is the son of King James.

There's no way to control the crowd of emotions that are being done through social media. Coming from internet meme to an actual player, they become public figures but it's hard to understand these people throwing criticisms that aren't healthy whether to Bronny, Lebron and even Thanasis.

but Bronny's relationship with LeBron is more special as he is the son of King James.
And this is the reason why he's getting criticism that much because there's the expectation from the fans, actually not fans but only people waiting for him to fall. Anyway, I'd still wish him good luck, as it's hard to be drafted and get a contract in the NBA. Whether it's nepotism or pure talent.
