The world is becoming too greedy plain and simple. Entertainers make way too much money and are valued more than the people that actually matter. Doctors, teachers, police, firemen, nurses, and those that actually provide valuable services to the world. We as a people need to completely boycott these streaming services and let people know we don't need or want them, but that will never happen. Teams of all sports need a wake up call. You used to be able to take your kids to a game and spend $100-200 for 3 people total. That included parking, tickets, food, and a snack. Now a 3 person group taking a night out to go to a sporting event will spend $500 easy and that's sitting in the nosebleed seats. INSANE!!!!

It has always been the case that the labor of those in the entertainment industry is valued much higher than that of those who work as doctors, firefighters, scientists, etc. But that's a question for government officials who spend budgets on anything but raising salaries for people in those professions.
As for $500 to attend a sporting event, I agree with you. For example, a ticket to a more or less normal seat at the Olympics can cost 400-600 euros, and the price of tickets for some seats at the recent showcase games of the US team was more than $1,5k.
And the price of tickets for the NBA final series matches is better not to remember at all. Grin

I guess we can't change that; it seems like people are more willing to spend on entertainment than on other important things in life, so the industry is getting big money. I think one of the reasons is also the gambling industry. While there's no direct proof, I have a feeling that if the government were to ban gambling on sports across the world, those contracts would likely drop. The gambling industry is so huge, generating billions if not trillions of dollars, and they owe a lot to the sports organizers. Without sports, their industry wouldn't exist.

Sam Hauser also agreed on a 4-year contract extension with the Boston Celtics at $45 million dollars. Wow! One of the best shooters that I've seen and I think the Celtics will be stronger offensively with him.
https://x.com/wojespn/status/1815053642606444631

He is a good shooter, so he deserves this kind of contract. With his limited minutes, I think this is just enough, but if the team wants some 3-point shooting while others are struggling, they can put him in. I think his problem is just his defense; he is not a good defender, so he is a liability in that aspect. However, with that kind of shooting percentage, I think it's right to invest in him.
Like a Duncan Robinson type of guy who can shoot but not expect too much on the defensive end. Well, there's always a chance for improvement and I think that's the reason why they gave him a better contract. He can also be one of their ace if ever they want a trade since his value went high after the championship.

Spencer Dinwiddie is also a great crypto fan. I mean in any other place if we were talking about NBA and him signing to Dallas, I would not mention this, but since we are at bitcointalk forums, I like to think that people would love to hear that. Dude puts all of his savings into bitcoin, he is a safe investor so he doesn't go for smaller cap alts or tokens like that, some people here put up thousands to meme projects and all, he isn't that kind of guy. He just buys and accumulates bitcoin, and maybe he even decided to move to ETF, who knows? In the end, he is one of us and seeing him win a title would be something great, I would love to see that, he seems like a guy who would be quite fun to talk bitcoin about.

In the end, he is putting up millions, and while 1 year contract is never good for an NBA player, he will be making good amount, and if they do end up winning the title and if he helps, then I am sure that they are going to give him a full max offer as well. He is the scoring type that helps this team, Doncic and Kyrie could be defended well at times, locked down, and Spencer could help during those times, he never had that much trouble having the ball in hands, so he could be good.
True that. One of the supporters of cryptocurrencies especially Bitcoin. He is one of the crypto enthusiasts who started early than other NBA players and he might actually be the reason why more players are well-versed today in the crypto industry. Do imagine how much criticism he took during the time when no one believed in Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies and now he can say "Look at me now!".
He also said in one interview "I am not crazy anymore." Yeah, that's how people will look at you when you are in crypto before.

Agree to that, he deserves to have it a secure contract and be on the team, just like what you point out he's really a good shooter and his percentage if giving that minutes he really can provide good outside threats, though he needs to work with his defense if he aiming to be more useful, being a two-player type of a player will give his name more value, as we know that shooting advantage mostly being use by the coach especially if you are playing with the defending title holder who will try to repeat that same acheivements.

His role is probably like Kyle Korver who is also a great 3 point shooter.
Judging on his salary, I think they have close to Sam Hauser as the contract now have already increase compared to the last 5 years.

https://hoopshype.com/player/kyle-korver/salary/

So if Sam Hauser will continue to be contributing and of course his health is very important, he might still get a good contract but his amount would not increase significantly due to his limited role.

What's good is he still got that minutes and he's inside with the defending Champ, we don't know what will be the plan for him after that contract but if he keeps on improving and adds more minutes and exposure we never what awaits him in this league either Boston will let him go and get that decent contract from a new team or will continue to use him and give him more decent offers,  for now, let's wait for another season and see if will continue his contribution even in a limited minutes being provided for him to play.

Kyle Korver is a tough name to live up to when it comes to being a shooter in the NBA.  I was lucky enough to see him play in college.  He played for Creighton, my schools (Southern Illinois University) rival.  He was about as dead on of a shooter as it gets, and he followed up a great college career in the NBA with much of the same.  I was thrilled to have him on the Chicago Bulls for a few years as well.  Heck of a player.

ESPN has stated they want to hire Charles Barkley and the NBA on TNT crew for a show. It is looking like Amazon and ESPN are going to end up in a bidding war for those guys. They’re going to end up with a huge budget and massive contracts. I can’t say I’m mad about how this situation is shaping up.

I quite agree, I understand the reason behind the excessive greed that comes with having a large viewership with the need to milk the consumers beyond reasonable threshold.

-----------------------------------

As per Shams Charania with the NBA Insider on twitter; It is reported that Killian Hayes have agreed a one year deal with the Brooklyn Nets. I think this might be a really good one and a turnaround for Killian Hayes, he was actually drafted high but the competition have been enormous for him in Detroit Pistons after each year with new high prospects coming into the picture such as Cade Cunningham amongst others, I think he'll get better shot at fighting for spot for larger minutes on the roster in Brooklyn than he would right now with the Pistons.

Agreed, I didn't think Korner would ever cut it in the NBA and was one of those great college players but not built for the NBA.  Dude had one of the most perfect shooting forms I've ever seen.  Lost art those types of players.  Loved that conference back then.  Those mid majors playing in the ncaa's always busted everything up.

TNT looking to sue the NBA now. Their statement:

Interesting, let's see how NBA is going to respond on this because it seems that the deal was already stamped with Amazon Prime.

But with what I can tell, most fans are going to boycott once the season starts through Prime. It feels so different if it's not with TNT.
I get it, it's all about the money, but why does everything need to move to a streaming service these days? A household already spends a ton on just basic cable each month and internet. Now you start making people have to pay for subscriptions to 2 or 3 different services each month just to be able to watch sports and the bills start to get ridiculous. On top of that, I live in the country and my internet isn't unlimited, so if I were to purchase a streaming service in order to watch sports I am going to spend even more money because my internet bill will go through the roof on overages for streaming sporting events.

INSANE!!!!
Exactly.

NBA has been known when it's already on cable TV and now moving to a streaming service, they know that it has got millions of fans that subscription will definitely make a lot of money. I don't wish the NBA to drop its viewership because of this but we might see that in a couple of years.

Greed at its finest is what happening, Charles did even said something like this and they're forgetting how the league have been known in the past through their old format and service.

Wait but with this whole new shenanigans, what will happen to the user experience of watching the game, I think there will be a major drop in the numbers of viewership to be honest, and this would lead to more than the backlash they are currently receiving, which is duly deserved if you ask me. I don't know what is actually wrong with the current state of things and the available contract, they are only showing how more business oriented the league is going to be about rather than sports, yet we all blame the players when they make money grabbing moves from one team to another.

Here’s the comparison photo with the re-enactment of the originally 1992 Dream Team photo. I was hoping to see it a little more perfectly recreated, but I can understand why they didn’t want to do it like that. It seems like this Olympic squad is all about paying their respects to LeBron James.

For now, yes this is the case, NBA is quiet because all their attention is on the Summer Olympics.

As for Hayes, it's good that there's a team that's willing to give him another chance to prove himself. I mean he's the 7th pick, and while some already said that he's a bust, the Nets believed in him hence, gave him a 1-year deal. I'm not expecting too much with him though because of how he played when he's on the Pistons, but maybe, just maybe he has that talent, but he's just with the wrong team in his first years in the NBA hence, they called him a bust. Nevertheless, I do hope that he will play well with his new team, better than his performance when he's on the Pistons.

Sometimes they can't really control what's going on in their career, some are bust because of injuries, but there are players drafted in the wrong team. Hence they can't show their full potential in their first year and then their games just deteriorated. They decline year after year, but still good for him to have a 1 year contract and hopefully, he can still contribute and show us his talent.

I won't call him a burst to be honest, maybe I'm just naive or have a personal likeness for Killian Hayes, the Detroit Pistons have been shit this past years and I think that might impacted up and coming guards like Killian Hayes, I mean their guards in recent times have all struggled, except for Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey, they both seem to have solidify their spot on the roster. Meanwhile the Piston keeps draft guards which leave Hayes almost out of the picture totally. Brooklyn Net for sure will be a second chance for him and I'll be rooting immensely for him.

Personally, I think the Pistons will be shit next season as well. The efforts of Cade Cunningham and Jaden Ivey will obviously not be enough to improve the Pistons' spot in the standings next season. However, Cunningham, who recently signed a big contract extension, won't be upset if the Pistons are at the bottom of the standings again.

They didn't made any impressive changes and the only thing they do is to add certain players that actually not so good addition for their team.

So I would agree to you or anyone saying that Detroit Pistons will still perform the same last season since its like their management cannot do anything to help their team to get big players to join in their team.

But let see maybe there's miracle will happen and they learn something from their bad run last season and improve their system as they have a nice head coach which maybe could help the young guys perform well this upcoming season.

Draymond Green on Klay's leaving the Warriors,

Quote
Draymond Green on why he’s “happy” an unhappy Klay Thompson left the Golden State Warriors for Dallas:

“I’m happy as hell he’s gone because he wasn’t happy anymore. To see someone who does not have a single care in the world can’t shake nothing, that bothered me… it was time. He loved basketball, he loved his boat, he loved his dog. As a brother, I only want what’s best for you, not what’s best for me, not what’s best for this team.”

Brothers & champions for life! ❤️🏆

https://x.com/CourtsideBuzzX/status/1816677512832798889

Yeah, make sense though, how can you stop or convince Klay to stay in the Warriors uniform when he is not happy with how the management treat him? Definitely there are some feelings for the big 3 of Steph, Dray and Klay as they build up a dynasty with 4 years.

However, as we have said, dynasties are not meant to stay that long, sooner or later it will crumble and probably this is it for the Warriors. They don't have Klay, they are aging, and was not able to get a good star so far in the trade to keep them going.

There would be a decline would happen to their performance and its expected that three players will part ways due to business matters on NBA. His teammates like Steph want him to stay but Klay didn't like how the management threat him and most provably if he decide to stay on Warriors there's chance that his playing time might decrease.

Even though we see a sad separation with the Warriors dynasty its still good that Klay goes to a contender team also his 3 point shooting will be so useful in Mavs since they really need a player like Klay who can give them a score on 3 point area. Even though Klay is not there we can still see that Warriors made a good move for adding those quality players in their roster and we can still see that they are strong team next season.

I think they know that it's going to be very difficult for them without Klay they have been like playing for many years and it's going to be surreal for Dray and Steph to start the season and not seeing Klay, but it's pure business, nothing personal and I do agree with Dray here. Klay is not happy anymore so why would he and Steph stop him from moving out and looking for a better pay in the Mavs.

But for sure, when they face each other, Klay will be given a good standing ovation and maybe we will see old videos of him putting up great numbers as a Warrior. But then when the game starts, it's competition between the splash brothers.

The Warriors are forced to let Klay move because he wasn't playing up to expectations anymore. They can't live in the past, as the team is really struggling, and Klay is one of the reasons due to his inconsistency compared to before. It might be good to see Klay move on and start a new chapter of his life with the Mavericks. However, it remains to be seen if he'll fit well and still deliver his specialty, which is three-point shooting.

Can be a good challenge to himself after being traded, he got the whole summer to keep up and work with his own capabilities, Klay is something that really got that strokes just so happened that the last few seasons after they become champion again is really not working for him and fot the whole team.

We can't conclude yet whether it's the best place for him but a good player always find his space and will provide whatever the coach and the team needs from him, let's see if how things will turn after this trade.
