Klay Thompson is also an elite perimeter defender

Was, not is.
I still don't like giving him a contract like this. Sure 50mil for 3 years for a player like him sounds like a good deal but I have a bad feeling about this.
I wouldn't be surprised if he misses at least half the season due to injuries, that wouldn't be anything new.  Cry
True that they need some defense, not sure though if an aging Klay can fill that gap to be honest.

Lastly, I don't like his character anymore. The way he went out at GSW was an embarrassment in my eyes. Thinking he deserves a lot of money because of "legacy" is just hilarious. They gave him a max 4 year contract when he didn't even play 2 years of it, and still he thinks he deserves more without any production.  Roll Eyes

Dallas trusts him, which is why he got that contract. Actually, I'm not as concerned about him getting injured now; my first concern is whether he can still play like he did in the past. Specifically, I'm talking about his very high percentage in 3-point shooting and his catch-and-shoot ability—because he was awful with the Warriors, especially in games that mattered most.

Roll Eyes

We don't know what happened behind the scenes, though. After all, this is just a business; if both camps couldn't reach an agreement, they had to part ways. But as a Warriors fan, I'll never forget how clutch Klay was and how he helped the Warriors win championships.

A neighbor asked me today what would happen to the first five of the Dallas Mavericks after acquiring Klay Thompson, and it also got me thinking. First, I told him that an open spot already happened since they didn't sign Derrick Jones Jr. again. That spot will be for Klay. The Mavs actually got weaker on the defensive end but they are a glass cannon now which could also be scary.

I think their defense is fine; they just got outplayed by the Celtics. When they beat the Wolves to qualify for the finals, that was already proof that they have a working defense, so let's hope they improve their weaknesses so we can see them in the finals again. Having Klay Thompson is a huge lift for their offense as they now have a complete threat both inside and outside. Klay is a shooter, consistent enough to bring some energy to the team, so that’s what I want to see from him in his first season with the Mavericks.

It will bring interest for those viewers who loves to see additional aid, though Klay was a good 2-way player before the injury but I think he still got something if he will push for it, he's a good defender plus a good offensive option especially when Luka or Kyrie already breaks the defense a kick out for an open 3 might be a good offensive threat for them.

We will see what help can Klay might bring for the team, I like to see him bringing his best and really help Mavs for another chance to the finals.

Roll Eyes
I feel like while he may not be great at offense like he used to be, I also think that he is much better nowadays on defense anyway, I get that he missed shots but what did he do on defense that was bad?

I saw him play all season long, and he is laser focused on defense, and most people (even famous head coaches) talks about how defense is a personality thing and not a talent thing, because many people who are not good defenders are people who just don't do it, like if you see Lebron not really trying on defense, is that because he lacks the talent? That's because he doesn't want to, he preserves his energy for offense. Klay Thompson is still a great defender if you ask me and will provide a lot for the team, and will be even much better if he relearns how to shoot.

They didn't add klay to play defense.  With Luka and kyrie ball dominant and get most of the defensive pressure he is there to open up the court.  Double Luka or kyrie and klay has free roam around the perimeter.  Guard klay because you have to then those 2 guys get 1 on 1 matchups more often.  Klay was brought in to open up the offense make no mistake about that.

LeBron officially gets himself a third Olympic gold medal as Team USA brings home the gold. It was a nice run for LeBron who showed he is still a top tier player. Hopefully this translates to some success for him in the coming NBA season. With the Lakers not adding much I think another championship ring for him will be a tall order.

And hopefully, this will also impact the veteran and young players that even at that age of a basketball player as long as they keep their body healthy, they can still play and be a gold medalist or a champion in the NBA. Their careers won't be over as long as they keep on fighting.

Congratulations to the USA team, that was damn entertaining to watch especially that game against Serbia in the semi-finals.
Serbia snatched the bronze medal against Germany and I bet they will be more proud if they won that game against Team USA. Still, that was something that will be remembered for the next Olympics. International teams are getting stronger as time flies and maybe in the upcoming Olympics, it will be more fun to watch the budding players.

Klay wasn't initially known for his defense, but he developed that aspect of his game to complement his skill set. Unfortunately, his injury seemed to affect his shooting, likely due to a drop in confidence. However, with a fresh start on a new team, there’s a chance things could turn around for him. Klay has the experience and championship pedigree, which could be a significant asset for Dallas. What they need now is the confidence to believe they’re a championship-caliber team, and Klay’s presence could help instill that belief.

With the Olympics over now and the trade market cooling down it seems like the next two months are going to be slow and a bit uneventful for NBA basketball. I’m hoping we get some surprises before the season starts, but I’m not sure what big names are left out there with the potential to make a splash in the trade market.

We can wait in anticipation for the start of the preseason games on October 5. It's not as exciting as the regular season, but when it comes to betting, at least we can see some markets to bet on, which already brings enjoyment. Additionally, for bettors, that one-month break gives us a breather to take care of our bankroll in preparation for the upcoming season, so it's still positive to have these kinds of dull moments.

Have you guys seen that spreading video when Lebron snubbed up a kid in the streets of Paris?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=scxNYP3pIw8

Lebron: "Stop, stop, stop, don't do that."

It's getting a lot of reactions from different people and most are not good.
But we have not yet heard the other side of the story and it's either the clip was cut or the kid had been pestering him the whole time. Or, is he even a kid?
I won't judge yet and I won't even dare compare his actions with other NBA players because there's a chance we might be wrong if we jump to conclusions.

Yeah that injury really affects him and the way he played, I guess with that new challenge playing with a different team, not familiar system and teamates it seems to be a tough one but I believe Klay will be able to adopt and will sync himself for the team, he did that before and surely he'll be able to blend and work with his new squads chimistries.

Just a clip and like you I won't give my opinion just by seeing that shared video without a clear knowledge about what really happened, better to wait for anyone who can provide more clearer information and not just basing with that video that are now surrounding social medias.

I don't pay much attention to this kind of controversy, if we can even call it that. LeBron is human, after all, and sometimes, like anyone else, he might not be in the mood to interact with fans. As fans, we should respect that. He could be tired after the game or have other reasons, but we shouldn't judge him for a simple action. There's no reason to hate him for it because, no matter what, LeBron is great and has made significant contributions not only to the NBA but also to his community.

It's hard to disregard this issue. I mean, LeBron is a public figure, and he needs to be kind to people, especially kids or teens who idolize him. We're not sure what the real story is since the video doesn't show everything. Was that after winning the gold? If so, maybe LeBron was just too overjoyed and in a rush to get to their quarters to celebrate their victory.

With the Olympics over now and the trade market cooling down it seems like the next two months are going to be slow and a bit uneventful for NBA basketball. I’m hoping we get some surprises before the season starts, but I’m not sure what big names are left out there with the potential to make a splash in the trade market.

Nothing much can happen now. Either close to the season things will happen but not something that can make a splash. I think what we are seeing now is it. I think in next trade window and in the season trades can happen. Teams are already made.

Injuries and fatigue for these players will be the most important part. They didn't had much break, they didn't relax much, they went from NBA to Olympics to NBA, with very few days of break, they should rest their body for a full month at least normally. To be fair, NBA is still some ways to go, so they can relax a bit now, and take a vacation but I suggest nothing that tires them out, not like lets go sight seeing type of vacation, I mean like chill at the beach type of vacation.

Otherwise, these are older players, like Durant and Lebron and Curry were the best players in the team, and they are all old, so if they are not careful they could get injured because fatigue would make their muscles not as strong as it should be.

There's not that much action, coming from the NBA champs until the rookie draft to Olympics.

Spot light was taken and done too quickly and these trades are still going to happen but I think that most of the teams now have been composed with the players that they all like and want to have.

The stars have already signed their extensions and hundred millions dollar contracts.

I'm sure that their teams know this and it's not like they will be fighting for a spot on the team so when they get back into the NBA gyms I'm sure theor coaches let them take it easy.  But yeah the extra miles on their bodies definately adds up at a certain point.  Injuries are just part of the game.  Nba needs them to be healthy tue bring in ratings and fans so silver probably has already had a word with their teams as well.

Perhaps teams have settled down already, and in players in the market, they might no longer interested on them. Still months to go before the regular season, and for those who have participated in the Olympics, they might been given some rest by their teams. There are still high profile names though that could be in the trade block. And I initially thought that Zach LaVine might be traded by the Bulls. Because I'm seeing him as not happy with his roles plus he was also injured. But DeRozan has left already as their tandem didn't work well. Brandon Ingram's name also pop up as potential player to be traded by New Orleans but so far, everything is quiet and it seems that he will still be in the team this upcoming season.

I like this to happen.....

NBA Trade Idea Sends $179M Denver Nuggets Star to Detroit Pistons

Quote
In a new hypothetical trade idea from Bleacher Report's Greg Swartz, Denver shakes up their starting lineup with a three-team deal including the Detroit Pistons and Brooklyn Nets. The hypothetical trade has a lot of moving pieces:

Denver Nuggets Receive: Cam Johnson and Ziaire Williams

Detroit Pistons Receive: Michael Porter Jr.

Brooklyn Nets Receive: Isaiah Stewart, Tim Hardaway Jr., 2025 second-round pick (via Toronto Raptors, and a 2027 second-round pick (via Detroit Pistons)

I guess MPJ not really a championship material although he already won a championship with the Nuggets. If the Nuggets could move him through trade, they could acquire more players that could play both the 3 point shooting and the defense. Cameron Johnson alone could already provide what MPJ can, so that other player is just an extra.
