It depends, if you can see the early days of bitcoin it has already a value because there are transactions already. But I don't doubt it that alt coins did helped somehow with the price of bitcoin to make it higher. Because all of the alt coins are dependent with bitcoin which is the major currency of all the crypto's.
From the start of bitcoins, it has grown high making a big growth in the technology as well in the digital currency. In terms of technology blockchain is under test and implementation on most sectors. Bitcoin from the scratch based upon the technology has grown in value which no other currencies were able to make. This happened just with the competence, else we could have been experiencing a small fluctuations that happen similar to the stock market.
There's no doubt that bitcoin did stand alone and rise itself from the beginning. But alt coins are also a good help for bitcoin because they are doing some contributions with the bitcoins price. But if ever those alt cons will be gone still bitcoin can stand all along its way and will keep on rising, this crypto is very tough.
