The blockchain should be intact unless there was a worldwide outage that affected the internet. If that happened, it's possible that the blockchain would be lost, but there would be many other things lost as well.
of course because bitcoin system and all transactions can only be done using the Internet. I can not imagine if the internet is down and I'm sure everyone will be confused And then we'd be back again to fiat? Crypto of course rely to the internet to perform peer to peer that's why we call this to be DAO which literally just mean a network of computers talking each other. Without the internet that allows us to do it, it will be a failure.

Don't worry that will never happen, internet may go down for few hours but disappearing permanently is never gonna happen, so relax and keep on earning bitcoins. What do you mean sir, that we don't need to about it? You mean its only normal if the internet goes down because it will only take few hours gone then it will normally be back again, therefore that's too impossible to be happen that internet disappear permanently.

Theres a good chance of that happening but, I hope not. Anyway, bitcoin would be completely unusable obviously since we need internet when sending/receiving bitcoins.

what you mean with a good chance to happen even though internet dead for a few days or a few months will not make an impact on the price of bitcoin since no activity in exchange.

If internet goes down, bitcoin will be dead. Because internet is the main access and if no internet, there is no access to bitcoin. Maybe bitcoin will be dead and it will be a chaos around the world.

We cant imagine our life without internet so where's the question of bitcoin. First of all we would die then bitcoin would die with us. Silly question.

If you don't have access to the internet, you don't have access to Bitcoin.
Some can argue that you can hold paper wallets, etc. but it just simply doesn't work.
Local internet can cut out and Bitcoin would be fine. But if the entire global network crashed (an unlikely scenario unless there is global disaster) we would likely have a lot larger problems than access to our Bitcoin.
We don't see Bitcoin, or the Internet as a whole, simply collapsing one day.

i think no only bitcoin but the entire world is depending of internet. therefore it is very very difficult, almost impossible that internet will go down, if by the chance it happen then people will find other ways of to use and invest in bitcoin.

Yeah, it's something that is impossible to occur, because the internet is something very important in the life of all people. If the internet is down, then we will definitely find it hard to do anything that can only be done in the internet

This is quite funny lol ,since you have stated about many things loses when the internet goes down aside from the bitcoin industry. People nowadays are having a hard time to leave without internet connections so i am thinking of the probability also of losing their minds haha.

reasonably speaking, I think it will be the end of bitcoins, but looking to it in another way, That will probably be the end of the world as we know it right now if the internet as a whole "goes down".. Again there is no indicator for that and this question is the same as asking what will happen if the sun shuts down or anything like that.

if internet goes down, not just bitcoin that will not work, all transaction which using internet will be down, and we can only use money to buy directly with around us, can not make online buy and selling product, or even can not make trading. i think it will back like in the year of 19-- before internet was born.

True but automatically all bitcoin transaction is literally shutdown unlike other services which can do manual transactions. Anyway i don't think that internet will go down. Large company wont let it happen, even government because almost all their instant transaction depend on the internet. shutting it down for merely a minute will make them lose billion dollar of transactions.

Shouldn't there be a way to test this out in a sandboxed environment? I'd be surprised if there were not already definitive proof out there...

The whole world is ran by the internet, if it goes down, so does everything in the world because we as humanity can only move forward, not backwards.

Presuming it came back on and the internet itself worked out the kinks of millions of devices scrambling for data, Bitcoin would be effected less than other systems. Think about it. A bank is working on several transactions, ATM transactions, billing and a variety of functions that regard money that moved yesterday, last week, five minutes ago. It has to deal with balance checks and various nuances of security. A given bank branch and the data flow it uses is anywhere from two months to twenty minutes in the past.
Bitcoin is dealing with 2 blocks. The last solved block and the next unfilled block. There may be miners on a block or two back, but those are the chain important blocks. Traditional banking is still moving forward with the data network. Checks would come back out and money would still move in and out of the bank, those would all have to be reconciled when the internet came back. But, the moment that the internet dies, Bitcoin ceases to move. It is like all the units in a factory linked to each other causing no backups or jamming. If one part stops, they all stop. When the blockchain stopped moving, there were no new TX's. When the chain gets started again, the TX's and the hashing all start at near the same time. There will be a brief shock to the network, but the difficulty will adjust on the next block and it will move again.

I think if the net went down globally, there would be bigger concerns than bitcoin as fiat would likely be worthless too, given that for that to happen, it would take something that would destroy civilization as we know it. I think a bigger concern would be, what would happen to bitcoin if a large area of the internet went down, but miners still preserved transactions through mesh-nets. What would happen when things in that area were restored and the chains from the mesh-nets tried to integrate back in with the main chain?

the same thing that has happened with a lot of coins that got severely jacked up, usually in the first week or so, for the most part, the longer chain would win out in the end, but that would also require those wallets to get back up, running and connected

i think it is impossible to desturb or out of service of internet . vut due to wars government of countries can stop the internet service . if all the country will stop to provide internet then the price of bitcoins became constant and when Internet start then there will be sharp increase in rate .
