I am trying to understand the feaures of Decred.
Am I right on this: For the voting process you have to buy tickets (like a lottery). With these tickets you can vote for changes (e.g. Block size) or to rate the last mined block as valid etc. The more tickets you have the higher impact for the voting process is.

Am I right on this? This seems to be special for Decred (beside Hybrid PoW/PoS).

you are pretty right with your assumptions - except that buying tickets is not really like a lottery. tickets have a price and you always get one (at least if you pay enough ticketfee). there's a more than 99% chance (@decred profis, correct me if am wrong) that your ticket gets voted with a 50% chance that it gets voted within the first 28 days.

IMO decred has way too less public attention, it deserves much more. once it gets the attention, price should go up.

You read it too literally. He was correct: the voting process is like a lottery. To participate in the "lottery", you have to buy tickets. But yes, 50% chance your ticket is called to vote within 28 days.

Actually on average every vote takes 28 days or so, not just 50%. Some vote in 1 day, some in 60, but if you stake a lot the average is 28 days, plus one day to mature before you can vote with that Decred again.

Right. So, on average, you can expect 50% of the tickets you buy to be mined within 28 days. As opposed to "only 50% of tickets vote within 28 days."

Yeah this is a good rundown. Also hoping it gets listed on Binance soon, should help it get more attention.

Well, for someone WHO has never seen decred's system, the term lottery can be misleading.
In a proper lottery, the tickets you buy can only participate once. Either you win or you lose and the ticket expires

In decred you buy a ticket that participates in a lotter with 5 (IIRC) winners every 5 minutes. And if you don't win, your ticket stays in the pool for thousands of more tries until it expires after about 6 months if you are that unlucky

I still dont get why my total balance is higher than my account balance+ tickets * price/ticket

My total balance is what it should be but if I sum up my account balance + tickets is way less Huh

Does someone knows why ?

Maybe you bought those tickets at differerent prices?
There is another number in wallet balance representing the total amount locked by tickets.
That, with your available balance, and if existing, immature stake amounts should make your total balance

I calculated the highest price i bought those tickets so that cant be the problem.
Where can I find the balance representing the total amount of locked tickets? Dont see it in paymetheus?
Seems like only one way to calculate the total banlance you have is to sum up the x amount of tickets and your availible balance, right? But if I sum those up I have arrounf 85% of the total balance, so strange. Could it be fee for the tickets I bought?

This is a display bug that happened in old gui wallets and that was fixed with a rescan.

Probably you have the wallet outdated, since 1.0.5 this bug isn't happen .

same bug (i used 1.0.4)

so how to rescan ?

update your wallet, go to your pool profile, in tickets copy the redeem script, in paymetheus go to “script”, paste, check the rescan box and click ok or continue.
This should solve your problem.

Decred Team Announces Future Cross-chain Atomic Swaps With Litecoin
It is only a matter of time until we see the first cross-chain atomic swaps take place. By the look of things, these first trades may very well include Litecoin and Decred. It is evident the desired team is very excited to work together with Charlie Lee in this regard. Multi-chain atomic swaps will be implemented in the very near future. Good things continue to happen for Litecoin, although it will take some time until these creations come to fruition. This is also positive news for Decred supporters, as the currency can become a part of cryptocurrency history. More on  NewsBTC

Until now I mined Ethereum + Siacoin but now I have changed my mind and started to mine Ethereum + Decred.

Can someone suggest me which pool to choose, I put a random pool from Claymore thread stratum+tcp://yiimp.ccminer.org:3252 but not sure where to see the stats like in the nanopool

Is Decred more profitable than Siacoin?
Any suggestion?

So many achievements already behind us (first ever hard fork vote on blockchain! - major! people don't realize yet, but it will become clear in the future it was an event of historical importance for blockchain tech) - and then so many things coming soon: LN & Ledger first, and what's in the Roadmap, the Proposal system will be huge; and then anonymity... the speed of development is phenomenal. All this makes it clear this is not "just another altcoin" - it's a different animal...
