In a few decades, the bitcoin or another coin, maybe Ethereum will be used widely, could even replace certain fiat.
Lol maybe you'll be a dreamer because I think until whenever altcoin can never replace bitcoin. bitcoin users has exceeded 10 million ? users when compared with etherum users who can be sure that they are also users of bitcoin right ? for bitcoin replace fiat i think its include impossible ?

What ever happens to this world, as long as fiat(local currencies) is still the legal tender recognized by the government, then there is no way that cryptocurrencies could replace fiat... We are too far from the time when technology would turn the tide and make bitcoin as our main currency.. Maybe when all that are around us is payable with bitcoin, then there is a chance that it could happen..  Smiley

Bitcoin will became an option to pay at online shops,at the real i dont know if the merchants will accept bitcoin but the main control of the transactions will be always fiat, bitcoin cant replace it now today and maybe never.

but i think in future most of the transect ion will be done through bitcoin because bitcoin is the easiest way of transferring money from one place to another, i think in next 2 to 3 decades it is not possible that bitcoin i will replace bitcoin, but in next some years bitcoin will be the best option for trading transaction, investment and even for shopping

Bitcoin won't ever take fiat any time soon but we cannot know as anything can happen. I will stand by my point that fiat will always be there. But bitcoin will be up there with it. Fiat has already set it's stance into the world while bitocin is just coming up. So I will wait a bit before judging anything like you Wink

No one knows what would be the future of bitcoin. As you say fiat cant be replace since  its being used  for centuries and bitcoin only existed last 7 years and its also different since its a digital currency so thats one of the difference. People would still prefer fiat for daily lives since  its known everywhere in parts of the world.

In anyway I look at the situation, bitcoin could never replace fiat, that's for sure, there is no sign that it will be recognize by the government as a money... That I think is the hindrance, if government couldn't even endorse bitcoin there is no way that it will replace fiat.

In one thing I'm sure, everything is replaceable. I don't wish to say that bitcoin will replace fiat, I wish to open conversation about how much is possible bitcoin to do that?

I remember Germany has Mark, Italy has Lira now they have Euro. Tomorrow everyone can have bitcoin, or something else.

When I think about future I get confused, and its hard for me to make any predictions. I guess I will enjoy the moment.

You have a point its up to government if they would  replace fiat  to bitcoin. Its always their decision on making up things but i think it would  really take sometime when it fully recognize bitcoin on a certain country since  most of the people only knows paper currency on our everyday living.

Firstly, the estimated total number of Bitcoin limited. According to forecasts, mining Bitcoin can finish in 100-150 years. The population of the earth in 100-150 years, will increase many times over. Vryatli Bitcoin will be enough for all people. Is it worth doing at all money exchange. Secondly, even if the euro replaced in many countries, the national money. Nonetheless, many people refer to this change is not always good. And in the third, you are doing the right thing that you live here and now and not think about too much. It is unlikely that excess, bad thoughts are good for health. Wink

You are wrong, ordinary citizens of different countries, is all the same, as will be called money. Use online payments, many are used to. As accustomed to debit and credit cards. Many people are now able to dispense with paper money. But the governments of different countries do not allow a single world currency. Money is a powerful lever of power. Why would anyone give up power ?!

Bitcoin should be widely used and widely accepted, even if it doesn't replace fiat, no big deal, as people who are comfortable with bitcoin, will never use fiat.

Exactly, if bitcoin will replace fiat there will be a big chaos that is going to happen because this currency is not regulated and we don't want to be slave with the whales and will just rely our life with the way they dictate the price, bitcoins will never be stable with less support of the population so fiat is very important.

I 100% agree with you here. Bitcoin doesn't need to replace fiat outright - there will always be certain people who will always want to pay in cold hard cash. For example criminals, who are now switching to bitcoin a lot, will still be large users of cash. Similarly older people or those who aren't trusting of technology will always want to use cash. However I agree that bitcoin becoming more prevalent and accepted should be happening, and indeed it is.

people should forget about bitcoin replacing fiat. why? because it's simply impossible. we should enjoy bitcoin how it is right now as alternative currency. and to be honest, i don't want bitcoin to replace anything as there is no need to. fiat currencies and bitcoin can coexist without any problems. some people don't seem to realize that...

2000 years ago there was barter. Who knows what awaits us in the future. But one thing is clear that bitcoin is a huge step forward in the future without the monetary system we know today

Bitcoin cannot replace fiat, because even now if you consider about most digital currency everything is calculated in terms of dollars. Only if this scenario changes due to the increased acceptance of  bitcoin or other digital currency replacement of fiat might happen.

yes that is right, and i think it is not possible in next 20 to 30 years, but if the importance and popularity of bit is continuously increasing it will definintly decrease the value of fiat currency, because most of the people will like to use bitcoin as it is the most convenient way of trading or shopping etc, but i will really take a lot of time,
