The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

As long as them commercial ph0rks fails, bitcoin is pretty much decentralized.
Indeed. Something in the line of a "commercial or controversial fork" must never succeed. However, keep in mind that a HF might be needed one day (to upgrade or fix something). when did johnyj sell his account I've been wondering what changed for some time now. I leave this place for a couple of weeks and people are still trying to knock some sense in LyingSapere Well, you can't let him post nonsense around here either. Some inexperienced people might think that he's telling the truth.

In other news.... pull out the crying gifs for poor old buddy Cconvert https://bitco.in/forum/threads/gold-collapsing-bitcoin-up.16/page-448#post-16006My hands just drop, perhaps this is the beginning of the end of the Bitcoin experiment for me, too. I really admired Slush, his former statements and actions were an important strand in the shreds of hope I had left.

ZOMG, A NEW WHINY RAGE-QUIT. THIS IS GENTLEMAN! Very disappointing article from Slush. My hands just drop, perhaps this is the beginning of the end of the Bitcoin experiment for me, too. The excitement about the future, the limitless possibilities, it's all just been turning to ash lately. I've moved my meager hash to F2pool for the time being, and will be selling all the hardware soon. For the first time since 2011, I won't be participating in this upgrade cycle. I just can't, in good conscience, have a meaningful portion of my net worth tied up in something I think is on the wrong track.

Correct. Basically even if we disregard the fact that there is still enough space in the blocks (looking at average), their reasoning is usually indirectly related to greed (i.e. profit). They're hoping that more transaction space -> more users -> higher price. Hard forks are very hard to carry out and definitely not "elegant" (as Veritas claims) and as such should be executed rarely and only when needed. There's a hard fork wish list on the Wiki. when did johnyj sell his account govvy-johnyj reloaded He was actually a decent person/poster up until a while ago. I have no idea what happened. As if that wasn't bad/lulzy enough... That one was among the best.

Bitcoin classic is a crap, but it's also hurting us, i believe the recent price drops were caused by it. We need to be more resistant to financial attacks like these.
