Alright, now the thread has been stickied.

xorxor, I am asking again: Please edit the original post you made and at least include a link to the wiki in a top, visible part of the post.
I would prefer replacing the entire content of the first post with just a link to the wiki, to remove confusion.

I asked before - are you opposed to having the wiki as the one, canonical place for such a list? If so, why?
Why not just go edit it instead of editing your list on this thread?

xorxor: Are you deliberately ignoring me, or just didn't have time to reply.
The thread is stickied, after I requested it - it's not Yet Another Thread.

Please do the edits I asked for, or explain why you think they're not a good idea.

I know it not what u after as I am not the first post.. but i agree with you in the the first post should be just a link to the wiki... maybe he can keep his list... but make the wiki link big and bold i say... I have added the wiki link to my post with my research on alt coins Smiley its a start Smiley

according to sugestions :

removed
" -DigiCash - historical try for digital curency, failed."

added
-Beertokens -abitious [impossible?] try to stabilize price against commodity.

changed categories.

ripper234:

I'm not ignoring You, and I'm not opposed to wiki, just started here and I do finish what I started. Not enough time to edit another place though. also your wiki entry is very buggy.

bearing as being in the process of being born, removed - no confusion anymore.
of course seting bear/bull market would have to be updated almost daily, also we'd have to set some timeframe. never intended to do this.

i like the :

1. Major
2. Minor
3. New
4. Dead/Dying

categorization, wanted to make it as simple as possible but this is good.

Just 2-3 month's old is not what I would set as criteria of being "new".
I was thinking it can go to other category when simply starting hype fades, a stable value and substantial volume is established, or when it starts to fade and goes dying.

I think FRC and TRC is still new, beacause there is no set value, no market and no exchange. [ok ,there is exchange but just a platform, no traders - huge spread and no volume]

With all these crytocurrencies is there one that could make us all rich ?

Yeah, Bitcoin.

Well yeah but you have to mine it which costs money in electricity or buy it with fiat currency

What i mean is there should be a cryto (Freecoin) that pays you each month until you hit 500,000 coins then it stops paying you, all you need is a wallet and internet connection  Cheesy

50 Billion coins for the world

The early adopters (us the bitcoin people reap all the benefits)

Once it pays 100,000 people it stops paying, thus the value of the coin goes up  Cheesy

late adopters to the freecoin game will have to pay with there fiat money or trade for other coins to get it

lol i dont know just saying the people who are in the game now could all be rewarded  Cheesy

Bitcoin will show the world what hard money really is.

So you saying it has to have risk to work ?

I think people who support Bitcoin and other cryto should be rewarded ..

But thats Bitcoin not freecoin  Tongue

what if you could design the system so everyone gets 500,000 Coins  Wink

but then it would be to common and if you could get free coins they would be useless  Sad

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/There_ain't_no_such_thing_as_a_free_lunch

"Support Bitcoin" is hot air.
If you support it, invest in it.

If you can't because you don't have enough money ... I feel for you, but Bitcoin in itself isn't meant to solve all the world's problems.

edit:

was
-TRC Terracoin based on BTC, some adjustments
now is
-TRC Terracoin based on BTC, fast difficulty adjustment - miner-jump resonance free

terracoin has now a working exchange. important step to become a currency, not just a working concept-prototype.

I still think it should remain in NEW category beacause of:
- extremaly low hashrate and trade volume
- not yet accepted at any online shop
- no direct FIAT currency exchange

I believe it's fate will soon be decided.
like allways input is welcome - If more people believe it is active working cryptocurrency right now ill move it.

Would be great to have a powerful wiki mechanism at a top of theme instead of simple machines forum simple topic...

I mean all this stuff with categorizing, systematization, self-linking, such ways that no repeat jobs will required, like mirror to en.bitcoin.it/wiki or en.wikipedia.org.

To have to see all related topics of e.g. ppcoin here, or get up by categories, and look at mining peculiar properties, or whatever else, but not a rude brute of new snow-like falling topics from multi-languages branches.

go ahead and do it. it's a lot of work, You have to do a lot of research on every coin and some work on layout. if there will be some nice wiki page I will link it in big font at the top of OP. right now its just a quickly made and errorous copy of earlier version of this thread. no updates, no corrections. thats why it's linked on the bottom.

major changes:

as I realized, only btc and ltc are in fact a currency :
name of topic changed from "list of all cryptocurrencies" to "list of all cryptocoins"

TRC is going to "minor", with working exchange

minor changes in descriptions of btc,trc .

/edit
ppc is back, my mistake, forgot about bitparking exchange

Ty SunnyKing Smiley I have included ur edits other than the ixcoin which acording to this link https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=36218.0 says that:
"Ixcoin is a fork of Bitcoin with twice the inflation rate of 96 Ixcoins per block and the same 21 million total limit"

Ah you are right I missed it. Ixcoin completely stops block subsidy by 2015 and only sustains mining via transaction fees. That's why the list of summary is very helpful  Smiley

LOL at your eight different altcoin wallets, I thought you were one of those collectors and I was right Wink Time to get a NMC wallet and then you have reasonably completed the active set Wink

Hehe finally updated my entry just for u SunnyKing.... as in added  "NMC: N7q9zg9h4Scfx6R25RTL8LdGxCBQbgq8wz" to my uber list of donation addys:P  And i've been interested in namecoins for a while now (bought a few on Vircurex but never got client till month ago or so) and just not had a play yet, but that was where I was looking to run the cryptoaution website from, but got tied down a bit at work needing to do overtime to pay the bills and sidetracked with the TRC Armory project... but it still on my ///TODO: list and I got a couple of guys from my work interested in it to who are looking to try and get involved which should speed things up to.. will keep u posted

IXC can be merged mined with BTC. To claim IXC uses SHA1 is insane.
