You might need some patience. The big pump will not come for some time as the whales do not have enough coins.

Putting whichever crypto religion we've sworn our allegiance to this week aside, I'm looking for feedback here:
I can swap some btc for some zcash using bitsquare, perform a zcash transaction to break any traceability and sell my zcash (on bitsquare again) and get myself a lovely new btc with no previous history that can be linked to me.
I can perform the exact same series of steps and achieve the exact same result with zcoin (because it too is based on the zerocoin protocol).

And so you can with DASH, with XMR, ...

In summary then, why would someone pay 100x more for an equivalent feature found in another coin? Apart from undetectable fraud and higher resource consumption what does zcash offer over zcoin?

I think this is a fallacy in the reasoning.  It doesn't "cost" you 100x to use zcash than it costs you using zcoin.  You could just as well say "why do I have to go further in kilometers than in miles to go from here to there".  The unit is simply different.

I think that what you are describing is a genuine use of zcash/zcoin.  But it remains a very small part of the volume and hence market cap (because of demand) of these anonymous coins.  For most people, there doesn't even need to be a block chain or any node software: they only keep their "coins" as IOU on exchanges.  The big failure (as of now) of most of crypto.

Slow start kills the first months, hopefully zcash can get out of that or not.

Those, who are availing free mining at www.Zcash-Miner.com in the slow start mining phase, are the real gainer.

Math would disagree, a 480x can pull ~160 H/s So for 3 months I would pay 2 BTC or ~1400 USD for what a $220 graphics card and nominally $180 in power would deliver. So I would be paying $1K for the service a markup of 2.5x.

Thus they would not be the "real gainer"

The cloud mining sites have to earn money. That is the reason for the mark up. I do not use those service.

Can somebody explain me how the price is going to stop going down anytime soon? because the inflation rate is too big now, constant new coins are getting introduced into the ecosystem, this can't make the price grow properly, and if the price is not on your side, the project can't do good... you need a good healthy price and if you don't, no matter how good your project is, you are going to have problems.

It will stabalize when the number of coins entering the market is a small % of the total supply. In other words not any time soon. Is there a place to short zcash that takes US customers?

I agree with that. For within a few months at least the price of the ZCash will be more volatile than the bitcoin.

In my opinion, Zcash is just another hype. As of now, Zcash might be one of the most expensive coin but after a few months and after the hype is gone, you can see that it will slowly die. So if i were you, I will just stick on bitcoin and continue investing for long term rather than risking my money on coins like zcash.

That's an illusion mate.Anonymity is not even the priority at the moment to be dealt with.You should worry about the devs having a control over your private keys.Like every other altcoin,this one hangs right on my wall of shame.

Anonymity is already a normal feature on most altcoin do have thats why its not really a good point to put on zcash and we assume that it has a potential to rise up in the future.We can see the hard dump on its price and now tends to rise up a bit but still i dont have trust on this coin.

Most of the top coders on here agree zcash has the highest level of anon thus far. I would say its biggest danger are all the clones. I just hope the dev that are cloning it are able to understand it fully and deal with any issues that arise.

I still see the price falling further with occasional pumps.

Yes this could be true and I do think 20% is a little too much but still prefer 20% over time rather than 20% at the start. Let's wait and see i guess.

I think ZCash may take its place in the top 10. It provides innovation, however, this is an ongoing evolving process. There is no final answer, and we keep flowing our assets into whatever the current medium of exchange is most valued. A lot of the most heavily vetted issues are integrated into other coin systems, and we are seeing the field evolve overall, which I believe is the final goal before we establish a true cryptocurrency for the masses.

As it sits I think we are ALL on the bleedin edge of developing a solution to the big-brother issue which stems from a cashless society, and we are working hard to ensure private and safe transactions for the world. You gotta figure, this will be the currency system for frigging Mars and beyond. Visa, Mastercard, Amex, paypal, they can all be hacked, but a decentralized blockchain is nearly impervious and we are overcoming the ultimate roadblocks to instant safe worldwide transactions.

Their hype is a manipulation, I don't think it worth for over thousand btc. And where they got his first hype if not from the manipulation of the ZEC price? But He is in the right place of the current price.

There was hype about Zcash for sure. But it has been beaten down badly and now it is getting stabilized. I think this is the time to start mining it and if you are looking to buy into it, then I suggest you to wait till January as by then you should be able to get it for much better rates. By then, the slow start period would have ended and supply will be more.
