I just bought a 2 H/s Zcash contract on Genesis mining. Lets see how this turns out How much.did it cost and for how.long The contract is for 1 year and costed 0.3 BTC. They say they have managed to triple the mining rate; this is from their website: We're glad to announce that our work on the Zcash mining software is successful and we have tripled the Zcash hashpower of every user that obtained a contract before 12th October 2016 15:00 UTC. We’ve also updated the contract pricing respectively! We still got a few weeks before the Zcash launch on 28th October 2016 and we’re working hard on further optimizations!

so with all those zcash clone recently, someone can enlighten me? zcoin, for example they said it's use a better technology than zcash, is this true or just a scam coin that want to ride the hype before the official zcash launch?
Thats actually a good overall test for the Zcash tech, Monero was virulently attacked for years by presumably people or a group behind Bytecoin, theory later partially confirmed by a former Cointelegraph writer:It hardly ended there and they made it very clear to me that while they favored all of the CryptoNote Coins outside of Monero, Bytecoin was their clear favorite and was pumped from nearly the beginning. Coindesk clearly favors Zcash, they got the nerve of mentioning ring signatures but not Monero (or even CryptoNote or the original Bytecoin). Strangely I don't have a problem with what is clearly censorship because people should be able to write whatever and we should be able to point out the bs we see. As it turned out, Monero is a major breakthrough in the cryptocurrency field, if Zcash is nearly as important evolution (which I don't believe) expect an all-out assault against any fork, mainly clean ones that launch without the corporate tax for mining. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=753252.msg16551777#msg16551777

does anybody know is testnet coins have value or balances will be reset?
Testnet coins have no value, and balances have already been reset a few times. Zcash futures would seem to indicate these coins will have substantial value when live coins are available. https://www.bitmex.com/app/contract/ZECZ16I'd still say it looks iffy they will meet the go live date, as the code is still quite buggy.

@vtr99 So you suspect ZCash is behind those newbie accounts? I would say only day trader try to manipulate market to earn a wage. PS: Since I read your signature will share what I just read from from Poloniex Trolbox theBunk: XMRdude, XMR = over 100 contributing developers, SDC = 1 part-time dev and 2 full-time trolls

I will say at least SDC has a GUI. If you want to take stock in what they say on Polo's Trolbox, more power to you. I say let the dev teams, and features do the talking. In which case you would have to be irrationally biased to say XMR has anything on SDC. Shadow Market is on the way, and when it arrives it will be pandemonium for the XMR fan boys...

I personally don't care about DNM, they could all drop or accept Monero tomorrow it changes nothing to me. Actually we are mostly live and let live. That is until someone posts some nonsense FUD against SDC, then all we need to do is let the facts be known. Once again, those facts are about to land with some serious weight behind them. As far as Zcash goes, anyone who has done their homework knows it is a unique coin. No one knows for sure if they will accomplish the goals they set, but I can safely say the SDC team wishes them the best of luck.

I will be mining and likely buying some zcash. I do not believe in the coin at all and the premine / block rewards to "founders" is lame. This coin is so hyped it should be an epic pump! zcash = cash grab for whoever wants to risk it.

I have no ideas what SDC is. that shout happened exactly at time of me asking you if you think that that guy with few accounts that is now FUDing Monero Speculations thread is a ZCash paid shill. That is what i understand from your post, but was nto sure and I asked. Not sure why you got focused in your answer on this "by the way" mention from a Trolbox shout. Oh Monero have 2 GUIs and now with Jaxx will have third Here you have listed compares of coins by development paramether: https://www.coingecko.com/en?page=1&sort_by=developer_score

I think the word you're looking for is parameters. I am talking about features. 3rd party wallets don't count. https://www.deepdotweb.com/2016/10/13/umbra-ultimate-privacy-platform/

@vtr99
All perfect, but i still didn't get answer on my original question.
But I checked yesterday coingecko and was surprised that SDC is actually a POS coin. I have no ideas why you are then so obsessed with Monero and ZCash. This are totally different coins.
Lisk, Waves, NXT, BlackCoin are PoS coins and the one that you need to compare with SCD not PoW coins.
Most PoS believers will say PoW is wasting of electricity. So no matter what PoW coin brings all is useless. Most PoW believers will say PoS is not secure. So no matter what PoS coins brings all is useless.
That is a reason why you need to compare apples with apples and pears with pears.
I also do suggest that we close our debate here, since after 3 replies i still did not got answer on my original question but everything else. And i don't expect I will ever get.

I guess I don't understand what your "original" question is/was? I am hardly obsessed with Monero. I used to own a large amount of XMR, and sold all of it not long ago. I made my fortune with PoW coins, and for a long time I was highly resistant to PoS coins. In fact it used to be part of my signature. I have since changed my mind, and believe PoS is the future. In fact I was just posting that I can remember electric bills over $1,000 a month back in 2013. It used to be easy to make $1500 a day mining with rooms full of graphics cards. Parts of my house were well over 100F, and as things fell apart it all seemed kind of insane. $150 graphics cards were selling on Ebay for over a grand. When Zcash launches I plan to have a dozen or so CPUs mining it, but at this point it's just a novelty.

Yes exactly. So even if PoW coin will give us cure for cancer you will they are plague of Earth since PoS model is better. So no compares are needed, since we disagree at the coin roots.

"Scientific" PoW coins will not give us the "cure for cancer".. BOINC projects existed long before any PoW coins were made and will continue to exist whether Gridcoin-or-similar stay or go.. Also, PoW is a huge waste of electicity for 99% of the coins (except for scientific ones) if you think about it

A GPU miner is being developed, but as of now it is impossible to tell if it will be successful. For that matter it is still not clear if they will be ready to launch on time. Still lots of bugs in the Zcash code.
