I spotted a new acronym here, 'bapp'. could someone plz explain what this is ?
It means "blockchain application".
Oh i could have guessed that, if it weren't so late here
thanx. But then how is a bapp different from a dapp, in case of lisk? ( i can imagine a bapp on an internal blockchain but lisk is afaik decentralized ?
There is no real difference other than the name. They changed it, mostly, I think, to make it more mainstream. Most people won't care whether an app is running on a server or a sidechain, which is fine. Telling them about this "new cool thing called Dapp" just confuses them (I was confused at first, anyway). If they really want to know, they will find out.
As you may have guessed, I agree with the change. I think at this point in time, an app needs to work, regardless of the way it is working. That's what most crypto-specific games suffer from: They are trying to sell the crypto part as a feature, while the gameplay and graphics are mediocre at best, but most people just don't care, because they just want to play a fun game. Other Blockchain apps/Dapps will have the same problem. Apart from certain usecases, a Blockchain app is not distinguishable from a regular app. Therefore, it must compete with a regular app without factoring in the Blockchain part.
