Where would society be without the internet?

It would be exactly as it was BEFORE the WWW was popular.

You HAD to go to the library for any info. You had to look into white/yellow pages books for telephones. You had to ask for information, or order things by telephone.

To communicate, fastest way was by telephone, which was expensive to talk long distance. Or, if you could wait, you could write letters, and send physical photographs by normal mail, which would take weeks or more. If something was urgent and did not have a telephone, you had to send a telegram. Most everything else was done personally by going physically.

And that’s it. The internet has accelerated our communications and the distribution of information. Information did exist, but it was a lot more cumbersome to get at it.

Probably people will have more friends, more relations between them and more knowledge...40 years ago we didn't have internet and everything was working good. Airplanes,companies,trading,post office,banks..all. Internet offers you everything just click away. Before if you need some info you needed to search books,go to library,ask somebody..people were more social..

If the internet wasn't invented at all. Business will take time to actually grow. micro businesses would get to their target market slower. Research would be a hassle, and i mean it's a total leg work.sending information to and from a company will take about an hour to get to. But we do value when we actually meet people

I cant even imagine how world would be without internet !!! I guess there would be few billionaires and millionaires. People would have close relationships. There would a lot less depressed people and less suicide rates. Two way communication would be very slow.

OP would have to find some other outlet for trolling, but other than that the world would continue to spin on its axis and we'd survive.  Information flow would be a lot slower, that's one of the big differences between today and the pre-internet world.  It's so easy to get information about anything, and it's one of the things I love about the internet.

It would simply go back to basics. I think I would like that one. But on the other hand it will be difficult for families with members working abroad. Most of the families rely on internet to communicate to their loved ones (don't you think?). Also, news or information dissemination will be compromised because people depend on internet to be updated with the latest happening in the world.

I believe that internet have been playing a big role in our society ever since internet was created, but it also has affected our society in every possible way. Most of the affected group is our youth, internet is now availble anytime and almost everywhere, and its not requiring any parental guidance, so addiction rate is quite high. Health is greatly affected by this as well as socialization skills, but lets not take away what great advantage it bring to everyone.

Without the Internet, only young people can suffer. Well, we are people who are familiar, besides, TV and radio will remain. Computer games, movies, music and books will be bought as before, on physical media, and not downloaded from the Internet.

Each society has its own priorities. Yes indeed, there was no Internet, but there were expansion joints. For example, we had cheap gasoline and more people traveled, there were discos where people communicated in person and many more.

i think that society would not have progressed on what it is it now without the internet as infrastructures and projects and technology would not have advanced if not for it. SOciety is depending too much of its resources o it and a breakdown can spell disaster.

If internet is not there, then it will set free a lot of people. Public peer-to-peer interactions have got reduced to such a level nowadays, thanks to the proliferance of the social media. More than 90% of the youth are addicted to social media outlets such as Whatsapp and Facebook. The rest are addicted to online gaming and gambling.

That question depends a lot on what you mean by "society". Do you mean the way people act with each other? Or technology progress?

People interact with each other in pretty much the same ways, regardless of their surroundings. They might use different "toys", speak different languages and have differently appearing traditions. But at the core it's all the same if you really pay attention to what is going on.

As far as progress is concerned though, ever since the internet things have been speeding up dramatically. Even more so than in the past. And the easier and more accurate communication becomes (think brain interfaces), the faster humanity will advance thanks to the very few people who actually choose to push boundaries. We're in for a real rollercoaster in the coming decades.
