Give the beta 2.0 a go, the update simplified. Just run flash.bat and type in com port.
Device setup is slightly different but I'm sure most can figure it out.

Nice to see this thing still going strong 🤘 Dug up that old (kinda outdated now) build guide from when I was messing around trying to get them made in China—never happened lol. Also got a 3D printed case floating around (not as clean as the clear acrylic ones tho). Chuckin the files up in the DIY spot so anyone can grab em and build their own if they want: https://old.afkdata.com/updater/DIY/Basically open-sourcing it properly now (except for server code). (device code was always plain text in the updater anyway). Couldn't find the little 3D STLs for holding the board or the reset button in the acrylic version. Probably not a big deal anyway—acrylic needs big sheets ordered, so most won't bother printing those bits. If you're running with the 3D printed setup, grab the ESP8266 that looks like this (not the old one in the guide). Or have a crack at making it work with an ESP32 for that sweet USB C port. Just rewrote https://cryptofolio.info not long ago—thing handles way more API calls now, stupid fast too. Even if a heap of people start building these, backend should be chill no worries.

Welcome back. Had a few of these back in the day. Are you ever going to produce more? I know a lot of people have just gone RPi with screen, these are different enough to be cool to have. -Dave

I wont say never, I actualy ended up with boxes of LCD modules I never used.
Also shipping them from Australia to all over the world, is way more expensive than it used to be.

Getting some prototypes made, all going well the shop might open again in a few months time Firmware is already light years ahead what I could make in 2016, it will be USB-C and an ESP32. https://afkdata.com website has been updated (note:old images are placeholders for now), if you need firmware from the old site the link is in the top right. Check out the demo of the new firmware https://afkdata.com/demo I will release a slighty cut down version for the old esp8266 based devices soon (cant have temperature, USB serial or OTA updates)

https://old.afkdata.com/updater/3.1 beta is the back port of the new firmware, for anyone who is game 🤣 Just noticed once flashed it's reporting 1.1.0 this is a mistake, but seems to work fine otherwise. 3.2 has the version fixed

Really cool project! There's something special about having a physical display for the price instead of checking a phone constantly. Do you have any plans for a version with an e-ink display for lower power or better visibility in daylight?

Power usage is actually pretty good — even with the backlight on, the device draws very little current, so that's not really a concern. As for changing the display, I think switching away from the acrylic and 16x2 LCD would lose a lot of the retro charm that makes the device what it is, so that's not something we're looking to change. On the hardware side, I've just received the first custom prototype boards, and I have a new revision ready with a number of fixes that I'll be sending off for fabrication soon. Issues: 1. Backlight issues 2. USB-A -> USB-C works and powers up the device, USB-C -> USB-C no power at all. 3. J2 connector is a mess, wrong spot and wired wrong, also relocated it to the back of the board in new revision. 4. have to hold boot to flash code in. 5. reset button wired to the wrong pin of the ESP32. 6. bolt hole and size placement issues. 7. no temp sensor We have a meeting in a few hours to setup a new company structure with a ABN (australian business number). Anyone with the older device tried the 3.2 beta (its a masive leap fowards)? https://old.afkdata.com/updater/Chucked a quick preview up, note: final custom boards will be black, the screen PCB will always be green unfortunately. https://youtu.be/XOKyhIctSZo?si=pPt63EEw3BTeiddh

Grabbed it again just so that I could test it for you. No settings were retained after flashing, which is to be expected, but worth mentioning.
Some quick nice to haves: - Show the IP for setup. Yes, Microsoft will direct you to go the right page, but still a nice thing to I have I think - Use the button on the side to "scroll" through menus. Like the devices IP, so you can find it quickly (and not just during boot). - When I've added no coins to the list, it still shows LTC? - It is not currently possible to remove the portfolio link. - Having a YYYY-MM-DD option.
Other than that, it is def. a huge improvement. Good stuff.

- When I've added no coins to the list, it still shows LTC? ✅ (fixed, changed the default in the API endpoint) yep you will always get default settings after flashing over USB, however on the new custom boards the OTA update will keep your settings. very good feedback, I will make sure most of these are in the launch fimware, thankyou

A few updates! We now have an X account — give us a follow at https://x.com/AFKdataVersion 1.5 prototypes are currently in production (18-20 days to get populated, hardware takes time ): We're also building our waitlist over at https://afkdata.com — drop your email and you'll get access to the store in the order you signed up. No pressure; you can always change your mind later. Pricing isn't finalised yet, but we're expecting around $110 AUD (excluding shipping), blue ones will be slightly more.

Big news — we've made some serious progress! 🚀 We've got a live device streaming RIGHT NOW: https://x.com/i/broadcasts/1kJzDDNMbVvKvThings are moving fast, and if everything keeps going this smoothly, we might even beat our September shipping date. Don't miss out — drop your email on the waitlist so you're first in line when these ship!

Company has now been created, a proper Australian PTY LTD this time (with business bank accounts) that took quite a bit of work.
First small production run is in with the PCB fab, it's the v1.7 that is in the photos on the website now (with two silkscreen changes RV1 was missing above the contrast and the "boot" was misaligned)
Some experimental features made it in, there is beta support for mqtt (home assistant) and a powerbank keep alive feature (uses more power if enabled to try to stop powebanks turning off)
The standoffs/bolts for this small production run arrived today.
Waiting on the headers that we need to solder to the screens they should arrive start of next month (around when the PCBs arrive).
Trying to finalise packaging for the kits.
I may change the pictures in the assembly guide (on the website) to be real pictures instead of what's there now.
Unless there's unexpected delays we should be good, waitlist is slightly oversubscribed now but I don't think everyone will order.
Each batch of PCBs takes a bit less than a month, hardware is hard 😅

Quick update: headers have arrived and are now soldered onto the screen modules — enough for this first batch. Packaging for the kits has been a bit of a challenge, but we're getting there — still on track for the first orders to ship next month. There'll also be a 3D-printed part to protect the header pins on the screen, which doubles as a stand for the device. Pricing: Yellow / Green — $110 AUD (excl. shipping) Blue — $120 AUD (excl. shipping) If you're interested, make sure you're on the waitlist!
