Ripple has been forming a contracting triangle whose breakout has poked the bulls out of hibernation. Recently the support at $0.3900 allowed the bulls to forge a new path above $0.40. Moreover, XRP extended the movement north breaking the triangle resistance. XRP/USD stepped above $0.41 before extending the gains in two engulfing candlesticks past $0.42 hurdle.

XRP/USD is trading at $0.4211. It has corrected from the weekend high of $0.4248 and is struggling to stay above $0.4200. Meanwhile, the Relative Strength Index (RSI) is giving away the fact that the bulls are getting exhausted and a retracement to $0.4100 in the short-term is imminent. The MACD shows that the bulls still have the power to hold the gains especially if support is established at $0.4200. Other key levels to watch are $0.4100 (next target support), $0.4000 and $0.3900 (recent key support zone).

After a successful close above $0.4000, ripple price started a strong uptrend against the US Dollar. The XRP/USD pair broke the key $0.4200 and $0.4250 resistance levels to move further into the bullish zone. The pair even settled above $0.4250 and the 100 hourly simple moving average. Finally, there was a break above the $0.4400 level and a swing high was formed at $0.4424.

Recently, there was a sharp downside correction below the $0.4400 and $0.4300 levels. There was even a spike below the $0.4200 level and a swing low was formed at $0.4174. The bulls protected further declines and the price recovered sharply above $0.4200 and $0.4250. It cleared the 50% Fib retracement level of the recent slide from the $0.4424 high to $0.4174 low.

This is a great news bois  8. If this start to work well and put competition on the spot there may be other services using xrapid.

Even though developments concerning Ripple are not always necessarily connected to the XRP token, XRP holders will be pleased to hear that the partnership between the two companies will be focused on xRapid, at least according to Ripple. xRapid is a product developed by Ripple that uses XRP as a source of on-demand liquidity for cross-border transfers. Ripple states:

“The partnership with Ripple will focus on the xRapid product, a solution for on-demand liquidity, which reduces reliance on pre-funding by enabling money to be sent from one currency and instantly settled in the destination currency. It leverages XRP, the native digital asset of the XRP Ledger, as a real-time bridge between the sending and receiving currencies.”

The Wall Street Journal writes that MoneyGram and Ripple signed an agreement for the former to use XRP and xRapid for two years as part of the deal.

Of course, one could argue that Ripple is trying to buy its way into XRP being used to facilitate money transfers. It remains to be seen whether this will eventually help generate organic demand for XRP for purposes other than price speculation.
