I noticed that you don't charge fee for foreign currency transactions.

Hi Operator55,
Thank you for your question.

You are right. We don't have any fee for the foreign currency transactions and such transactions are made with a wholesale rate which is provided by our bank.

Hence Wirex FX Fee is 0%

Is that new? I've always been charged a 3% transaction fee on foreign currency transactions.

Yes, please check our new fees: https://help.wirexapp.com/hc/en-us/articles/207870335-Wirex-card-fees

Hello.

Any account related issues must be addressed to support@wirexapp.com from your e-mail registered with Wirex. This is for identification and security reasons.
Without checking your account very hard to provide the full answer.

Please note, that we don't regulate blockchain fee and show it in your account the same as we received it from our provider BitGo. The fee is not constant and the fee depends on many factors. For example, if you have many small deposits/transfers the fee will be highly increased for your wallet.

Please also check this article:  https://help.wirexapp.com/hc/articles/115000219854
There are some suggestions about the high blockchain fee and possible actions. Hope it helps.

Just made a payment in USD with my EUR card and was still charged the usual 3% fee..
Or are you just calling it "free foreign exchange" now and blaming it on the "wholesale rate"?

This screenshot wasn't made from Wirex account and we can't advise you about other services. Please check the ledger in your Wirex account.

But I'll try to explain with more details:

We state that WIREX has no such fee, which is true.

We are getting the wholesale rate from our provider - MyChoice and don't add any our fee.

They do have the Foreign transaction fee - as everyone knows - but as long as it is included in the final rate  (source currency > card currency) we get from them, we do not show it separately.

Thought I'd randomly test to see if a random service of Wirex works...

NOPE. As expected. I'm done using Wirex. I sincerely hope Wirex goes bankrupt for their unreliability. I'm going to leave my $450 stuck in my account and say, go fuck yourselves Wirex. I refuse to deal with the headache of liquidating from Wirex.

Same here, when i try to send a bitcoin transaction that's what popped up. There is hidden fees everywhere, there is no way that you can accurately estimate the amount that you are actually going to get into your virtual debit card with bitcoin or vice versa. Every single action is filled with unnecessarily high blockchain fees that nobody needs to pay in the first place(everything is done off-chain, isn't it?).

I probably deposited around $20 and only got i think less than $13 in my account, that's more than 45% in fees.

I'm not using this service again. it used to be good, but now it's just horses***.

Here's a list of my recent fees. It baffles me to see these outrageous hidden fees on top of these existing fees that I can't even explain.

I'm going to constantly post in this thread to suggest other providers. I fucking hate Wirex and hope their business collapses. How can such a business exist that provides unparalleled poor customer service and has non existent services because they don't work, be in business?

We don't give a fuck about your nearly designed website or app. People care about it working when they want it go and UPFRONT FEES.

Learn something about business. Your glossed app and website means nothing when true users can't count on any service you provide.

Hi.

No, you are not right. Every transaction in our service is a blockchain transaction, even card load or transfer from one Wirex account to another.
And once again I can tell everyone that it is not our fee, it is 100% blockchain fee that we can't regulate.

At the moment, the 'mempool' (queue of unconfirmed transactions) is very big; in simple terms, there's a huge demand for transactions and people are pushing higher and higher fees in order for their transactions to get confirmed as soon as possible.
Also, take into account that if you have many inputs (you have made many deposits to the same address), the fee will be considerably higher.
It is also discussed on Reddit:
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/6vx61u/btc_fees_wtf/

It wasn't written by us, but I recommend for everyone to check this very useful discussion before posting new messages about the big blockchain fee in our service.

Let's be honest Michael, that's just untransparent, fooling your customers or just call it hidden fees. Pick one of them. Writing that foreign exchange is "free" on your site is misleading and false advertising if the customer has to pay an additional 3% to the current market rate. 3% on a $3000 transaction makes quite a difference. ($90 in fees for foreign exchange)

Hi!
Thank you for your message, but I can't agree with you.
First of all, this additional fee to the market rate is a bank market rate, not our and they provide this market rate to us. As we don't have any fee for that except market rate we stated that there is no fee, all is clear.
Also, this is a standard in the industry and all other services have the same rate, nothing new here.

Are you saying that every action is executed by sending bitcoins on the blockchain? Every single time i sell or buy bitcoins, there is a corresponding transaction that appears on the bitcoin blockchain?

Why don't you guys bundle up several transactions, if this is the case?

Take any of your competitors, why don't they charge any blockchain fees when they are providing the same service? Plus, you just reduced the maximum that we can transact and store anonymously due to EU regulations, yet anything below the maximum will result in hefty fees.

Yes, correct. Every card load/buy bitcoins transaction has its own hash and appears in the bitcoin blockchain. That is why blockchain fee applies.

I expect SegWit be the solution for the fees problem.
I really hope for great news in that direction.
And with the number of customers increasing, maybe soon enough all the Wirex fees will start to decrease. But maybe it's too soon yet for that.
However, keep up the good work!

I really do think that the efficiency of your system is significantly flawed. You could easily store some bitcoins off-chain on some exchange site that you use regularly anyways(only a small portion so that the rest is safe in cold storage still), and this way you are able to at least reduce the fees that people are paying significantly.

Good to hear that you're trying to at least improving the status quo. Because this is definitely unacceptable, and the fee situation needs to be changed. I have never, ever used a site that demanded me to pay a bitcoin transaction fee for fiat transactions.

Hopefully it'll be something good. BTW, another thing is that your site is always laggy for me. Even with the redesign, it is quite an unpleasant experience every time i use it.

I have been dreaming of having my own credit/debit card where I can have my name on it to use for some transactions online which is why I end up trying to have Monaco and TenX Tokens. How much wirex is asking for a card to reach on my doorstep?

How different are your services from the card projects these days like TenX and Monaco?

I wanted to test this service based on reviews in this topic. Here is experience/review/summary....

This service.. is seriously flawed. I created account few days ago, today i deposited my first btc and tried to exchange to card.... result:

If first attempt to use your service fails like that i wonder how many customers you lost - while trying to interact with service.
Generic error.. no explanation.

//EDIT1

WTF? I deposited around $20 usd in btc - 0.004651. Trying to move that to my usd card...

https://i.imgur.com/FppmyzZ.png

Then i click the button.. and i read that i'm exchanging maybe half ot that:

https://i.imgur.com/m8yLNBO.png

Then i read that there's blockchain fee?? For exchanging funds to my card - internally on website? w00t? But i made btc transaction by depositing to wirex already....
So moving funds from wirex balance to wirex virtual card is another transaction? lol.

//Edit2

I started reading this topic... and it seems that moving funds interally is blockchain transaction.. so you pay BTC fee for moving funds to card..., even after you deposited funds already to wirex this is most stupid thing i've ever seen developed.

Quote
Every transaction in our service is a blockchain transaction, even card load or transfer from one Wirex account to another.

So i:

1. deposit $20 to wirex account using btc transaction.
2. I pay $1 fee for transaction (my wallet fee)
3. I move funds from internal wirex balance to my card
4. I pay $4.5 fee for INTERNAL wirex transaction
5. Now i have $14.5 or $15.5 from original $20 if we exclued my wallet fee..

Deposited $20 in btc.
Funds on card - $15.5.

So the fee to move funds is 22.5% - almost 1/4 of total amount deposited.
If this is true.. then this service is a joke... but maybe i'm getting something wrong

You can say that it's blockchain fee... but has anyone seen a service where moving funds internally on website is btc transaction?
I think no other service works like this.

This is just some ripoff.

//EDIT3, tired of it.. now... "blockchain fee too high". According to wirex i have to pay 6 usd for transaction, while using online wallet blockchain.info it's maximum $1....
Withdrawing also cost $6...

lol. No segwit implemented perhaps?
