Having issues with ozcoin?

Getting every couple of minutes resets from ozcoin then miners remain idle for a minute and reconnect only to get same drop from ozcoin again.

we had a few issues over a longpoll. Coders were monitoring it and addressed it straight away.
We also had double the hash rate after 2 blocks today due to hoppers joining - this is why we were monitoring at the time and could have been part of the reason Smiley

Connection breaks and jsonrpc timeouts - unusual from you guys, for me at least. Is this my end or something form yours?

I have had a couple of connection breaks through the day too. After this mornings block pool speed hit 190Ghash it enabled us to monitor and do more optimising to the code through the day, this might have introduced them.

A lot of changes have been made to the code, 2 weeks ago the pool couldn't handle over 2,000 connections, today we peaked at over 5000 and had no issues Tongue

wow! Doubled your traffic and managed well! More than I can say for some  Wink

So how did you manage the start of last block? Same hashrate and cnxns?

yes , the hoppers hadn't left after todays second block and fully contributed to the 3rd Smiley

Which brings us to the topic of pool hoppers:
After much discussion we feel that until the pool hashrate is around 150Ghash, the hoppers are helping the pool more than hindering it Smiley By then i hope to have some structure in place that makes the impact of hoppers less whilst still being fair to all that mine on ozco.in.
I dont really want to go down a complex route that "may" leave the pool in negative funds, and i also have to protect the legitimate part time miners that cannot afford to mine on the peak electricity rates but send every hash they can to ozco.in Smiley

Meni's algo is reportedly fair (although to be honest I'm not exactly sure what that means - it's not xxPPS but a geometric scoring method) and has a pool fee built into it. Poolmunity has just changed over to it and eclipsemc have had one for a while. There's also no risk of going into the red on a long block.

Whats up with the shares, seems to have completely wrong current shares in block reporting on website and api.

Even the start time of current block just increased by couple of hours.

Bug or some "stupid" feature? Smiley

maybe an invalid?

i didn't see any invalid block in their stats - and this one just disappeared. so it could be possible that they treat invalids just like longer rounds

Nope, my earnings for the block still reflect 10% however they suddenly added 600k shares to the real shares.

Yeh guess you were right flowers, its just not very transparent.

Seems it had to be invalid block, messes with the shares tho since we cant figure out easily what happened to last block.

the last block was "orphaned" see
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Block_chain for an explanation
it has since been credited to depbit.
I spent an hour chasing around working out what happened, sorry i cant post before i know an answer. For more "uptodate" or "realtime" news members are welcome to click the "web irc " link on the site and join irc.
as for transparency, i have screenshotted the wallet and
http://pident.artefact2.com/block/0000000000000924f96ed846bcefdcacf5cda66a880615269cc0eb718a7b70cf
this page when it showed ozco.in.
hopefully to help in having to explain to all the miners that havent heard of or understand an orphan block.

Ozcoin pays valid block to valid block, so yes the shares from the orphan block were added back to the stats to be sure that every share hashed on Ozcoin is paid out. We are still a fairly young pool and cannot afford to pay for "invalid" blocks (like some pools can), we do not feel comfortable just "dropping shares" from invalid blocks (like some pools do), so we feel this is the best and fairest solution.

Hope that is a help.
I will post the screenshots in Ozcoins forum in the morning << sorry its afternoon, Post is up in the ozco.in site forums

Hey, what I meant with transparency is to have users see themself what happened to a block being valid/invalid.

I didnt imply that ozcoin isnt transparent from a dodgy/stealing coins position, sorry if it at all may have sounded like that.

What info can i show on the site that would enable "users see themself what happened" or do you mean like on slush's where invalid block are left in the block list? Should be easy. Doesnt really show "what happened" tho.

Clipse, no you didnt sound like that Smiley but this isnt the only forum and IRC can be so fun at times Wink. Pool owners can do heaps of stuff users would never know about was my point. And maybe i did go a bit defensive Smiley
