Indeed, the number of people who use bitcoin as a currency—as opposed to an investment, a bet that its value will rise in time—remains relatively small. For most people, bitcoin and other digital currencies looks like a solution in need of a problem—a technological end-run around big banks and big government that interests only geeks, drug dealers, and crazed libertarians. People don't need bitcoin so they aren't stupid not to accept it.

I think people are using it more for an investment. I know we need both spending and investment ,but people need to start making new ways for people to spend it and people have to spend it.
Yes, I am also looking that most people are adopting bitcoin only for trading and for holding them in them wallet for earning more money with that, which will make bitcoin a weaker currency, a currency get strength only when it is used as a currency for purchases etc.

People are treating it as an investment and not as a currency, and if it continues then it will not take price of bitcoin to a higher level, bitcoin needs circulation in market.

You are right we have to us bitcoin as investment as well as as spending for our normal use instead of other currency and fiat, so that bitcoin become more powerful and we should have to create more store and have to provide more services which will accept bitcoin so that it is known to all of the world.

Its upon every users need and make decision of when to spend. When one is satisfied with a small profit they might even sell at $500. So nothing to be serious with it.
thats true, though i think it is way better to hold your bitcoins for later prices, most of the people are holding right now and i think that because of that they are not too stupid

yeah, you are right those people who hold their coins are not stupid as they know the system and effects of halving and they also know that when will be the effects of halving start while those people who just waited till the event of halving and now stopped waiting and decided to sell their coins are stupid as they will miss the real fruits of halving.

yes because it is the best time to invest rather to use it. it is looking that the price of bitcoin will increase so much in next coming days therefore it is better to hold bitcoin instead of using it. because in next some days it will give you a good profit.

Correct. We have our own ways of spending it with our own necessities. If a person needs it badly then why not. He earned it so he got the right to use it.
Some people are just rude that they think they are superior than others because they are holding it in and selling their coins at the highest possible value. They just do not think of the possible problems someone is having right now.
I don't see the point why we actually should care for how others spend their coins. I mean, it's their life and they can probably do whatever they want with their coins (as long as it is not against the law or something).
You are true but we should have to tell to others that if they use them as currency then it will remain with us forever, as people love bitcoin and they want it forever but they do not know that how a currency get success and how some currencies fail.

For the better future of bitcoin I think we should spend our coins regularly, as holding will never let the price of bitcoin go higher, we should use it as normal currency.

That person might not be in his right mind or just talking shit to create a conversation. Or maybe he is already drunk  Grin and the other person he is talking too is starting a conversation about bitcoin while he know nothing out of it. Pfft.

I am seeing a number of people are saying that now the halving has occurred and now we do not have to wait for anything which will sure that the price will increase and so they spend their money for different things and selling them, but they are too stupid they should have to know that the effect of halving will start a few months later so they should have to wait.

Well, I don't think you're wrong on that. From what I learned, the more bitcoins that are in the active transactions, the more their value increase I guess. Although I don't think it has a very large effect on bitcoin's value.

and you will never understand what is going on until you yourself start using bitcoin as a currency too.
that is when you can realize the difference between using fiat and using bitcoin. for example when you used bitcoin instead of using paypal to pay for a digital good like a subscription then you can really appreciate the usage of bitcoin.

Yeah. Although bitcoins as investment isn't really that bad of an idea either but bitcoins should primarily be used as currency because if everyone just starts holding bitcoins then there will be less coins in active transaction.
If people don't spend bitcoins, then bitcoin wouldn't grow.

Nice article and I saw in the end link for reddit thread, that partially inspired editor to wrote this article. They have nice arguments for this headline, they talking about how much people understand banking system and where money come from generally.
People are not aware of btc yet in my opinion, they are full with doubts in this technology. Maybe stupid is hard word, someone used word ignorant and that is more suitable word in my opinion. People just don't know about things, but with time that will change I think. New generations are coming that knows much more about internet and technology. They will realize how btc can make things easier, and that will attract many young people.

Correcy. Also with sending money to another country. Other money transfer company charge so much because it is overseas but bitcoin dont do that. It will be the same as how you send near or far.

in order to start using bitcoin now needs a big change from the old familiar fiat to a new technology which is not well known among regular people. also there is always the lack of places to use bitcoin at, for example in that bar you heard this if the bar was accepting bitcoin that would have been a different story!

Bitcoin is not very common to regular people and I agree with you since in our place only few people and around 20 people knew bitcoin and only 4 of us are engaging in bitcoin. They just dont know the importance of bitcoin and the other is the access to internet and many have no computers. Aside from no access to internet there are nobody selling bitcoins in our area so thats what explain why only a few do bitcoins in our place.

I won't use the word stupid, I think they just don't know the benefits and do not really see a need to for it. I mean why use something invisible when I can use something visible, the exchange fees of buying bitcoins (some as high as 20%) makes others draw back and look for alternative means of sending money abroad like Skrill, Neteller and the likes.
