If you want to compare USD with Bitcoin then that would be insane, USD is far more popular and acceptable forms of money, though Bitcoin is getting bigger day by day but it has to go long long way to touch the level of USD.
I think USD is 100 times  more preferable and acceptable to Bitcoin. So, time hasn't come to compare Bitcoin with USD.

Anyone expecting a world-wide replacement and the upheaval that would require wasn't exactly grounded in reality to start. The world is too large and too complex to change that quickly. I do not believe Bitcoin will ever replace fiat, for technical and political reasons, but I also never believed Bitcoin would reach $2000, either, so I continue to be surprised by the heights it has reached. World-wide currency revolution- still ruling it out.

Exactly and majority of those who hear about this are not interested, it is only now that I see some interest on bitcoin from different sectors and group of people as we can obviously tell due to the surging price. Dollars and Bitcoin are very much tied up today and it's primarily due to the fact that everyone is trying to earn dollars thanks to Bitcoin. I do not think that the dollar can shake the use of real currency in a particular country or in the world. Bitcoin is a digital currency or a good investment and as a real money Bitcoin is better not to use.

I think there is huge difference between Bitcoin and USD. It's looks like compare between tiger and cat. Both have some same characteristics but there are huge gap between them. USD has already made a massive platform on the other hand, in comparison with USD, Bitcoin is a newbie.
So it should not be comparable right now.

Actually I don't know what made you think that way because obviously the answer would is that USD is much popular than BTC. Try to walk in the streets whether they know USD then they will surely say yes but if you ask whether they know Bitcoin I 'll bet that there are very little who knows.

In terms of volume, USD is far ahead. In terms of popularity, USD is far ahead. In terms of usage, USD is still ahead. But who knows, Bitcoin might surpass it.

Let us add the numbers. The population of USA is 324 million not counting the USD users outside of the country meaning there is 324 million people who are guaranteed using USD as their main source of currency. Bitcoin does not even reach that number of users. Even though the price of Bitcoin is way more bigger compared to USD, it has more users because it is a legal currency of a country with a big population. Also the price of Bitcoin is valued in terms of its fiat currency equivalent, without Fiat Bitcoin would be nothing to us

Should I conclude that apples and oranges wouldn't have value to us if they weren't priced in "terms of their fiat currency equivalent"? Bitcoin simply cannot be valued in something else since its value is its value. At most, you can speak of price. Right now fiat is used for this purpose (that's true), but Bitcoin has everything in it to plow on its own (apart from minor technical issues). It was specifically conceived for that

Great statement, i agree to that. Bitcoin and USD has a lot of huge difference and the only thing that they are the same is they can both use as a money while the rest is a very huge difference like the USD is already well established and a lot of country already know USD because it is one of the very first kind of money while bitcoin is just getting started and a lot of years to come before it becomes well established.

USD and BTC have almost similar characteristics, but the backing system behind the value addition to each coin makes the difference. USD is backed by a central authority whereas BTC is backed by a technology which function of its own.

No, bitcoin is not popular like dollar, and bitcoin can't comparison with the dollar.
Every child know about the dollar but not every young man know about the bitcoin.
I give your example, in my country only 1% people know about bitcoin out of 100%.
But dollar is too much popular in my country.
Therefore, i can't think that now and also in future bitcoin will be more popular than US Dollar.

well when it comes to use, btc can be more useful due to some features that makes transactions a lot more convenient. though the challenge is accessibility and the fact that a lot of markets bank on the usd. it will definitely take btc a lot of time and perhaps changes before it even challenges the dollar

Even if someone is a fanatic of Bitcoin, then he needs real money for everyday life. And this means that without the dollar you can not get away anywhere. So you can earn bitcoins to sell for dollars and even some Bitcoin parts to save as a good investment tool and even as a masterpiece of cryptography.

Bitcoin has become more popular as an investment rather then currency and usd is more popular as currency as it is widely used and accepted in almost every country but that feature is completely missing in bitcoins at a moment but hopefully things will change in future for sure.

bitcoin is a virtual currency and it has been created for several years before, on the other hand, USD is massive. it's popularity, acceptability and credibility are unimaginable then bitcoin. in the current world, USD dominates all over the world in the monetary system, so bitcoin should not be compared with USD right now.

We should have both of them, they have different function so no need to choose what is better, of course majority would still choose USD if ever given the chance to choose, bitcoin is only an alternative way to earn and to transact things easily, a good one but still we need our local currency not only bitcoin.

No, bitcoin is not yet popular as dollar. Because dollar has been in the world a lot of years already while bitcoin is still a new one. But if there will be some advertisement from the US government that they are supporting bitcoin, it will be the start of the people to believe and will get the bitcoin from their own pockets by buying and making the demand higher.
