I think some sportsbooks would consider my bet win. Hopefully sportsbet.io considers too. I've already contacted support and they said the decision is final. I'm posting here in case it might change.

Ouf, that's bad luck indeed, but I think it truly depends on the whole match. Most likely the guy retired through injury right? And in the last set, if he was down 4-0, most likely because he was just injured and couldn't get all the balls. So the whole set could be considered void. It's bad luck but that's tennis for you. I doubt he "accepted his defeat" and that's why he retired. That's actually against the rules. If you are fit to play you must show your best trying to win. If they give you a "lack of effort" penalty you can lose ranking points, price money and so on. This happened in the past and the player in question then had accusations of fixing games.
So every retirement is basically due to medical reasons. It's a common practice for sports books to void bets like this. Only bets where no other result is possible mostly get graded. Mostly that's like under/over bets where no other result than over is possible, even if the over is not reached yet, and so on.
Some books have/had a rule that there is no void after the first set is completed, but that's quite rare. Maybe next time your player is losing and retires and you get your money back. It all evens out in the long run.

Actually, this is something I've never quite known. I know it's sportsmanship but is there an actual rule about it?

I know for sure, there have been questions in the past with players faking injury (mild accusations and suggestions rather than anything else) but I thought you could retire as long as you gave a valid reason. "Too painful to continue" is good enough I think. You might get boos for tantrum retirement, but doubt you get penalised. Many have done this. Many players retire or withdraw as a professional choice -- perhaps they're eyeing a bigger tournament and don't want to aggravate something minor. The fixing accusations only arise when retiring player is about to win a match I think.

Something Fedex never did, by the way (but he himself said he retired once, but nobody knew which it was). Injury or not, ill or not, he finished a match to give his opponent the highest honour of winning a proper game. And gave paying fans their ticket's worth.

Great deal with one of the top 2 leagues in the world actually. What I wonder is, how will the deal look like? Will people see the sportsbet logo on shirts or "just" around the field and so on?
