I forget about how long is the sponsorship contract of Sportbet and Watford. Since Watford will be on Championship Division next season, will we still see the Sportsbet and Bitcoin logo on Watford's Jersey?
It is very unfortunate IMO, actually Watford had the chance to stay on Premier League, but they got 3 defeat continuously in the last 3 matches.

Its very unlikely the sponsorship was for only 1 season,
I believe there are clauses that apply if team gets relegated, less payments etc

Well, unless they've got a clause in the contract that says they can terminate the deal upon relegation, or significantly reduce payments. A lot of sponsorship deals and even players contracts have clauses like this. There's a huge drop off in terms of viewership between the PL and the Championship so that is often reflected in the various deals and deals can be lost upon relegation or payments significantly reduced. It would kinda be silly on the sponsors part not to have them really. The PL is the most watched league in the world, whereas the Championship probably doesn't get much attention in the grand scheme of things, so that's a lot of eyeballs missing and less eyeballs means less exposure for your brand.

Well, the sad thing was guaranteed last night, Watford is definitely going down. I don't know what to think about it, I don't know how I am feeling. Last year at these times Watford was a team I barely know, just a premier league team that I have heard before and that's it, nothing special, didn't had any differences in my mind at all and was basically just null point for me.

This year I followed them every single game, I either watched their games or at least highlights when I couldn't watch the game, they had a horrible start, they got a bit better, they had the chance to actually stay until the last game and it was thrilling to watch, and it all ended up with them going down and I feel horrible about it. A team I didn't cared about last year yet makes me feel horrible this year that they went down, I got attached to them .

Another example was Sunderland. Back in 2016, a gambling company renewed their sponsorship with the club for 3 years ^[3] while they were in the top flight, but unfortunately, the team was relegated to Championship in the 16/17 season, but, the deal was not terminated the following season ^[4]. Obviously, things changed when Sunderland was relagated to 3rd division and the deal was terminated.

Watford could and should have stayed up. But when you go and shoot yourself by firing a manager 4 games into a season, and then another manager 2 games before the end of the season, you give yourself a mountain to climb.

It's so hard to believe this team actually was fighting for Europe last season and went to an FA cup final also. They really didn't deserve to go down like this, but it is what it is.

I have tried searching online for this answer whether there is a relegation clause inserted in this deal or no, but so far I can’t find anything about this clause, hence we will have to wait for sportsbet reply to find out whether they had actually inserted such a clause or no.

Furthermore Watford has lost $60 million immediately according to Dr. Dan Plumley, and he’s explained that Watford could incur more losses in the long run unless they can win their promotion back to the league, hence I’m hoping that there was no relegation clause inserted in this deal.

I think that Watford had a lot of ups and downs during this year.The problem I think was after they had a good streak which they ended by winning against Manchester United 3-0.Right after this they thought everything would be easy from now on and underestimated the difficulty level of the Premier League.
