The Audit has nothing to do with restrictions it is making sure the BM is secure, not many other projects go to this length

Because the listing are stored on the Blockchain you cannot prevent anyone from listing what they like, however to cater for some stuff that not everyone would want to see there are steps in place to hide that sort of thing unless you want to see it.

Nobody can remove or censor what you are your buying and selling on the blockchain and we cannot remove any listings.

This can create issues with legal and moral implications but this is the same issue that Google faces when indexing ALL the content on the internet, so we took the same approach by implementing a "SafeSearch" function. I'm sure we would all like to be able to use the marketplace without seeing sensitive or offensive listings and have it safe for kids and your Grandma.

There are three levels of SafeSearch.
  • On All Syscoin User Interfaces, such as the Blockmarket and the current Syscoin wallet, the user does not see items marked as sensitive by default, but they can CHOOSE to display them by turning SafeSearch off. We intentionally made this difficult to find in the UI so the kiddies didn't accidentally turn it off.
SafeSearch is VOLUNTARY.  We believe that humans are basically decent. Vendors who are selling pornographic, illegal (in some areas), sensitive or offensive things are encouraged to mark THEIR OWN listings as sensitive or potentially offensive - putting their listings behind the SafeSearch wall.
For people looking for those things specifically, they can CHOOSE to look at these things. They can turn SafeSearch off to get to all the "good stuff".
  • The Sycoin team can also manually move a listing behind the SafeSearch wall.  If someone who doesn't have basic human decency fails to put offensive material behind that wall, we can do it for them. We doesn't affect the listing in any way. It just makes it so that the user must CHOOSE to view the sensitive items.
  • For completely ridiculously illegal and immoral things, like human trafficking or hiring yourself out as a hitman, The Syscoin team can block a listing from being viewed in our interfaces altogether. These blockages would be commenced on community feedback or outcry.

On the other hand, because we CANNOT censor anything, anyone can share the GUID's of any listing even if they don't show up in our interface, and still purchase them through the Syscoin wallet or Blockmarket. Even further, anyone can create their own interface to create their own creepy hitman kidney-selling meth-head marketplace if they have the means. There's nothing we can do about it.

Just like the internet, there are pockets of insanity. But we don't have to show it on our products.

The security audit is to make sure there are no ways for anyone to steal your coins.
We have added a web layer in Blockmarket which is pretty standard for using the same UI on multiple platforms with applications like Slack, but the way we do it is new to cryptocurrency. We're confident in our methods but we decided to go the extra mile.

Testing on the Blocknet service-nodes has begun!
If you want to get involved you need 5k Test-net tokens to activate the service node.
Join Blocknet slack to be a part of it:
https://blocknet.herokuapp.com/
A setup guide will be available either later today or tomorrow.
Code will start moving to Mainnet with activation dates/block-heights starting the end of next week.

This is a good thing. Across blockchains interaction.
Behind this is the cryptofuture.
In my opinion, the LN will be universally recognized.

So your mac is still in beta after all this time? Might wanna update your graphic charlie.

Syscoin is the only existing decentralized marketplace in existance period. You do not understand code. Take that cherry picked infographic elsewhere. Every other marketplace assumes escrow we do not. It is day and night difference actually. Read the code to find out yourself.

For shits and giggles lets take a look at your infographic though.. to be objective in thought for our readers ok?

Lets look at ones given an X to sys.

Firstly sys has moderation, it has multiple levels of it including safe search private offers and enforced private offers in worsed case. Bay just has banning afaik through moderator key (not as nice and does not fall within decenteralized model).

Next reputation is already built into sys.

Next private markets are also covered by selecting your offer to be private. Also finding these offers will be much easier with syscoin indexers since they are deterministically derived from blockchain historical data which is gauranteed. Bays contract state cannot.be deterministically derived because its p2p so by definition there needs to be some trust to ensure that indexers get the data it needs for searching functionality. Thats a fact and a big difference between sys blockchain design vs bay or open bazaar p2p design concept. Sys blockchain wins big there.

Transaction history on.blockchain yup big check for sys and X for bay instead. Most ppl agree blockchain is better. If you want to prove in court you made a tx its easy on blockchain. The contracts are all offline on bay and i dont even think they hash and root onto a.blockchain so its hard to prove in court you did something beyond a reasonable doubt. Even if you hash and root your indexers become non deterministic and trustful to central agencies which will be responsible for data of those contracts. Easy to shutdown in that case. To deal with bloat sys has special pruning which removes expired data.

Multisig? Sys aliases which own offers can be p2sh.. so it can handle multisig as well if not better than bay. This creates join account functionality aswell. 2 more checks for sys there. Sys leverages bitcoin technology for that sys is on latest bitcoin core because it was designed to be backwards compatible. What is bay based on since its pos it must be an old version of bitcoin full of old bugs and missing core performance improvements made in later btc releases which sys employs. Again sys was developed with bitcoin core upgrade compatibility in mind. Even so much that i created a process to do the work so its easier to upgrade by adding // SYSCOIN comments everywhere i added sys code to so ican easily rebase.

Oh btw sys core is open source.. bay is closed. Big check for sys there.

Steg, p2email, builtin irc chat.. sorry those features to me are features for the sake of features no real world benefit.to our design. Other ways to solve that problem without involving the core.

Smart contracts? Sys has services which are contracts well tested and unit test coverage specific to their usecases. Bay requires authorization so not much difference there.. create a pull request and your done.

Pegging is the only unique thing bay is working on sys doesnt have. Sys has many other things bay doesnt have. To keep it in context of this post. Sys is the only marketplace which does.not require escrow. This is important as some merchants (especialy once they have reputation built) will not want to use escrow. Others cant afford the upfront costs of escrow. But arbited escrow is easiest for network affect because its the lowest barrier of entry. Double deposit escrow like bay has offers a high barrier of entry and thus will not achieve network affect. Noone will use the system. Also if one side genuinely forgets or goes missing both sides lose funds which adds much risk averse behavior to the system and pushes would be buyers away. Vitalik Buterin and I had a convo on this and agreed in current state of crypto, arbited escrow is only way to go. Sys has a real decenteralized marketplace which is more than a simple barter template. Sorry but a template wont do here for a comparison. We have reselling, whitelisting, integrated escrow and many other things that make it a marketplace and not just a template which can be used to MAKE a marketplace. We have uniquely crafted the syscoin offers smart contract service.based on our vision of how a fully functional decenteralized marketplace should work from the ground up and done on the.blockchain. Bay has not done that. Its using a barter template or a.buy sell anything template to try to fit the bill. The templates will require much customization to.get to the level of sys marketplace design which becomes less of a template then and more of a customized solution imo.

Sorry for long post but if anybody else shoves that dumb diagram down your throat just kindly link them to this post. I seen it enough and decided to spend the time to fix its obvious mistakes (over 50% is wrong atm)

@Anoxxxy

i own a small portion bitbays too but i don't have to much trust in this project atm:

1. try to find someting about the team on the website (= no info)
2. afaik the whole project depends on one person (= very risky)
3. in my opinion they/he tries to realize too much at once
4. to do all this right and safe you need a big team, good funding or you will fail sooner or later (both not available afaik)
5. Syscoin marketplace exists and works, bitbays not afaik
5. If something looks too good to be true,  I'm suspicious

As you can see, the infographic is old, meaning that both SYS and BAY has made some progress since that.

I am on the Slack group for BAY, indeed they do have 1 core developer for the wallet . BAY has a team, team members for different purposes, but all of them don't want to be listed public as in the case for SYS. Some of them are not listed as team members on the BAY topic. But that Will change indeed.

As I have understood BAY has made a big progress in the development , gonna be interesting to see where we get with SYS and BAY.

Regards Anoxy
Yes david is a good coder im sure he has made good progress.. but honestly these infographics are pretty nonsensical imo.. better to not even show because they are wrong on so many levels. We are pushing hard with 2 more devs that have as much or more coding experience than myself . So we got a group of competent devs and business professionals on the team now.. its going to be a good second half of 2017.

Surely you know what it means to get a 50% loss for a long time.
Bay distribution = trustless.
Sys distribution = trust.
Personally, I'm sick of the word ICO lately  Grin
Too much Bay in this thread  Cool

Perhaps it is worth remembering BitBay ICO.
SYS reputation is as pure as white snow in this plan  Grin

What has the ICO with the development to do with BAY.
I see this as a BIG thumb up for BAH since David has works with it since day 1 with trust and honest and he is still developing it.

What is the benefits of SYScoin over BitBay?

Can someone explain this for me ?

EDIT: you do have a big competitor out there: Bitbay.

Read the infographic comparison.

/Regards Anoxy

Damn this post really covered the pluses of syscoin blockchain and how it really is one of a kind. I've used and posted on both markets and I definitely lean more syscoin for sure but it's also important to give credit where credit is due bitbay has come along way with its marketplace too and in the end we are all on the same side with trying to beat out price gauging mainstream marketplaces. But a little friendly competition never hurt anyone!  Wink
