@jeffthebaker, I added an edit above explaining a bit more about SD, you might want to take a look.

Also, as disclosure, I'm not part of Stemit Inc. or a developer of Steem. I'm just a community member who was an early miner and is now running a witness node. I'm glad I was able to help answer your questions though.

Holy shit.  This looks awesome.  I am now monitoring this thread and will begin researching this Steem thing.

Also, I now am somewhat upset at the $$$$$ of content I and others have helped generate for Reddit, though we see none of the profits and have zero say in the administration of the site.  Thanks for pointing that out.

Account is back under control of the real AmericanPegasus.

This is a very interesting coin. I see massive potential. I have been around crypto for a long time and I have never seen a project pulled off like this.

The website www.steemit.com looks solid. Very clean UI and works smoothly. This reminds me of early facebook days...something in my gut is pulling me and telling me this is going to be huge.

This is going to be a great tool for us crypto heads to use! Especially moving into the future platforms similar to Reddit are only going to get more popular.

I for one am full time involved in crypto trading and find myself posting on Reddit and Bitcointalk.org daily first thing in the morning when I start my day of trading...and carrying on convos throughout the day on various platforms. Now I can post/read interesting stuff and get paid for it. So this is only natural IMO. People will migrate to Steem.

People are gonna be looking to make that STEEMING HOT post to make them bank.

Brilliant idea.

Bravo.

I don't know what Steemit Inc. plans to do for signup options. They are giving away money (minimum 10 Steem to open an account) so they have to be careful to protect against abuse.

I'll offer another signup option here for bitcointalk forum members:

If I know you and have interacted with you: free

Hero/Legendary: free
Sr.: 1 USD
Full: 2 USD

Any: 5 USD

Payment in advance and can be made in any top 10 crypto.

You will receive a new account with up to 10 powered up Steem. Powered up Steem gives you access to the network (bandwidth), voting power, and earns interest. It can't be powered down (converted to liquid Steem that can be traded on an exchange) until you reach 10x the minimum account balance (currently 10 Steem). Powering down, when possible, is 1/104 of the balance per week.

PM me to get your account.

Thanks for your interest. There is open account sign up through mining and some members are offering registration services for BCT contributors.  @smooth is one of the members offering this service.  Email will become a sign up option on Steemit, but we can only say that will come 'soon'.  If you register for the waiting list on steemit.com, we will let you know when it's possible.

one great new inovation this coin brought to the crypto community is "Front Mining"

make the ANN so poor that you can mine everything to your own

proof

https://steemit.com/@steemit/transfers

and this is just the main account.

I think the project at self looks nice, but all this is so a no go!

Will we expect Steemit.com to have google ads later? I assume you'd monetize these contents to support the community. I just register by the way.

Can I ask if someone has VESTS are there any good reasons not to withdraw them at this point in time? I don't fully understand the system and haven't had time to read the whitepaper.

If you are actively using the system, you want VESTS (now called Steem Power or powered-up Steem). They determine your influence in upvoting (which can include upvoting your own posts) and downvoting, and also the amount of rewards for voting.

If you are holding longer-term as speculation on the value of the platform, you want to hold SP not regular Steem because the former earns interest (literally anti-dilution payments) and the latter does not.

The disadvantage of SP is that it can't be transferred between accounts or traded on exchanges, and it takes two years to convert SP to Steem (1/104 per week).

Thanks, that's a very clear explanation.

When steem was enabled to mine, I tried to mine this coin on my cpu. But failed to compile the wallet. However, this is a nice way to generate some coins by the way of blogging. When will the payout be issued or withdrawn?

I think it is July 4th for the steemit rewards to be first issued. They will be issued as Steempower, which can be withdrawn over time.

Hello everyone! Love this project. I have a quick question, I noticed on the right hand side of steem there is a list of categories...how do I get one of mine listed? If I want to start contributing daily posts?

Also what is more profitable to hold, STEEM or STEEM dollars? how does that work...?

- Thank you.

Half the reward will be in Steem Power and half in Steem Dollars, of course you will be able to convert your Steem Dollars to Steem if you want.

When you "submit a story"/create a thread, you can choose/type a category, my guess is that if you type a category that doesn't already exist it will be created.

About STEEM, STEEM POWER and STEEM DOLLARS a good explanation is here... https://steemit.com/steem/@kingjohal/noob-steem-questions
