Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?
Bitcoin is like a father to all other cryptocurrencies. Only time will show us if there is a chance of any altcoin to surpass bitcoin. For sure there are some altcoins that have better security and low transaction fee than bitcoin, yet more cheaper e.g Dash, Monero and Zcash. But as I said only time will show us which one.

I dont think bitcoin can be replaced. Bitcoin is the pioneer of cryptocurrency. That cryptocurrency that possibly replaced bitcoin in the future will go a long way to prove its worth.

bitcoin is still consider too complicated for normal consumers
i believe it will be replaced by some more consumer friendly alt-coin
the coin that is as easy as to access and recognizable
Complicated, what can be complicated, in creating in account in an exchange or online wallet or in installing a desktop wallet?, if you mean keeping your seed or your password safe that is something that you need to do anyway with your credit cards and your social media accounts, in order to send money you only need the address that you can copy paste or that you can scan, bitcoin is already very easy to use.

We cant predict it, but why cant happen, bitcoin is following litecoin, segwit were incorporated first at it, ltc isnt just soo profitable as bitcoin, when the mine period ends i dont doubt some altcoin will hit and replace bitcoin, till there we are getting more and more altcoins wich are growing and getting closer bitcoin value.

What do you mean by bitcoin is following litecoin, in terms of what? hrmmm You are saying that it is not profitable so why would we choose LTC over BTC. I'd rather focus on collecting more bitcoins than buying altcoins, I just need to keep it and buy more to gain huge profits on the next ath.

That's possible. Bitcoin will always exist as it is completely separate blockchain from the other coins. You cannot replace what coin with another. It is not possible in the scheme of cryptocurrency. Coins will make it or not but you cannot replace one with another even in a fork situation it is not been replaced at the simply been altered.

bitcoin is irreplaceable...i mean if any altcoin gonna surpass bitcoin price that doesnt mean they will replace bitcoin...
Yes, any coin will go up with its quality. Bitcoin has passed many test until now and has passed each and now is on its way to success. As we all know there are 21 million total bitcoins to be mined and until they all are mined, the price for bitcoin will continue going up and may even cross 10k $ soon. Bitcoin is truly irreplaceable. There are some coins even costlier than bitcoins but of no use because bitcoins have already taken the main power and each crypto now depends on bitcoins.

Eventually in the future, bitcoin will be replaced by another crypto currency but not soon. Bitcoin will be available till 2023 for mining. After that bitcoin will remain the costliest crypto currency. However, those who have already set up their expensive mining system, what will they do?
They will obviously find another crypto currency to mine and that crypto currency will become the next big thing after bitcoin. Everything in life, has a expiry date and bitcoin is no exception. But that is not going to happen anytime soon.
You will have to explain some details. Why mining will only be available until 2023? Because we should still have a good 100 years until no new blocks are mined. Also the fees will take over as the reward. Altcoins use different algorithms, with ASCIs it is not possible to switch to the next best coin. Probably people will not look for another system anymore, they trust bitcoin so much that is why the price that we see now is rising. That is the statement of the majority and create some good demand to make it happen. If there is a specific altcoin that will replace bitcoin, we cannot ascertain what it is due to their huge number. yes they even do not need to feel about new currency, as bitcoin is still number one and the best crypto currency which is providing the best option to its users, therefore i do not think that we even need to think about another crypto currency. Bitcoin is the biggest because the community is strong, and it maintains a lot of its respect from the rest of the world because of a lot of the stunning achievements it has accomplished, such as being valued over $1k, being relatively popular with some online financial systems and so, among other things. It's not like other cryptos can just show up, even if they are better. Bitcoin could be supplanted by another crypto, this won't be the first run through a development is dislodged by another advancement that does likewise yet better, take a gander at Walkmans they were progressive until the point that they were supplanted by discman and after that ipods.

I agree with you i think if it falls then there is a good chance that it will be replaced by another i think that coin will be ethereum because it is also number 2 and it also is a lot pricey then the other coins.

It could happen but maybe in the long run, but currently it might seem not possible. Another way it can happen very fast is when bitcoin fees goes too extreme or problems starts emerging and nothing is done about it
I think that it is being replaced by many crypto right now. Bitcoin can not be used as a payment method anymore cause of its price. People tend to hold bitcoin instead of spending it and other coins are considered to replace bitcoin to become the next online currency. Bitcoin is not going to be replaced but you have a point when you say that bitcoin isn't being used as a currency as it is being used as an investment, so I think there is a chance we use bitcoin as a store of value that is not used as a currency that much and that we have another crypto that circulates a lot more and I think the perfect candidate for that is litecoin.

ethereum is getting close to the bitcoin, but is long way from where bitcoin is. cryptocurrency is a disruptive technology and bitcoin has the advantage of first comer. So i don't think anyone can get to bitcoin in near future.

I think nothing can replace bitcoin by another cryptocurrency because the value of bitcoin is continuously increasing no other crypto can attain that such value like bitcoin

I think it would be very hard for a altcoin to replace bitcoin unless something very serious happens to bitcoin then you would have to be lucky enough to have what ever coin that takes over. Bitcoin is the first and strongest it has built up more and more momentum over the years and with that there are alot of users of it.

I know that someday there will be an altcoin that would really standout and be treated as great as bitcoin but I'm sure that it won't be replaced or making it obsolete. They will be be used both by people with just different value.

of course that would not be possible, because bitcoin is the world's highest currency cypto this. all altcoin prices are based on bitcoin prices. if the bitcoin price falls, it will affect all altcoin prices. crypto is as a technological tool or a step to get btc

I think it really is possible, although bitcoin is the fastest rising coin in the cryptoworld, we can never tell what will happen next. I think Bitcoin is still unstable unlike our fiat coins so, anytime it might fall, although its gonna be hard because of the rushing numbers of investors who are turning their money or altcoins into bitcoin. But still, the possibility can't be taken away.

A while ago there was a big hack at MT.Gox and if these things happen again in the future I see a risk for Bitcoin to be replaced by something that is more secure. Lately you didn't hear about a lot of hacks or people who's wallet got stolen. But as technology evolves so will hackers technology evolve and new technology will replace previous technologies. Also at some point in the future mining will get less interesting, too much heavy equipment need and that also might prompt people to look at alternatives. You don't see that now but we live in fast changing times so I am sure there will be a final day also for Bitcoin.
