Does it make sense to believe that Bitcoin could one day be replaced by another cryptocurrency, that is, a cryptocurrency that really does make Bitcoin obsolete?

Bitcoin has been leading cryptocurrency as of the time being. Considering it's huge lead to it's competitors when it comes to its market cap is one of the reason why it's not easy to tell if it can be replaced. But yes it is possible, especially now that the price swing decreased a a big amount in just a matter of days and hours. Nonetheless, i still believe in bitcoin. It would take a long time to beat bitcoin or it might not be.

I doubt that there is any other cryptocurrency or altcoin that can supersede the bitcoin. At least not for the next 5-10 years. Of course there are many rising competitors like ripple and litecoin. The newest addition to the list of its competitors is Ethereum. Ethereum has launched its own cryptocurrency called Ether that showed an exceptional growth last year making it the 2nd most popular cryptocurrency.Although, we must not forget that it’s been just a few years since the bitcoin came into existence and there’s still a long way to go. And as the time goes by, we are going to witness many other astounding aspects of this virtual currency.

See at the moment bitcoin is one of the most secured and trending cryptocurrecy and even its price is growing day by day.... so there are very less chances of any another currency taking over it but u never know what could happen !!

You are thinking rather short term. I do agree bitcoin will be around as long a block chains are around, which seems like forever at this point. block chain technology is just starting to get adopted on a corporate level, but  I can assure you it is here to stay. so at the best case scenario will will keep on with btc, but utilize the alts in the manner that we have up to this point (some alts are just better than btc for spending as a currency). worst case, btc is 100k a pop, and pretty much a collectors item as few ppl that didnt adopt early, cant afford to have a significant amount. I think the latter is most possible; 20 years from now, having BTC will be like having old collectors coins in mint condition Wink

A few days back, the Bitcoin dominance was close to 61%. Now it has dropped to 43%, with almost all the altcoins progressing against BTC. I was expecting Bitcoin Cash to gain at the expense of BTC, but other alts such as ETH and XRP have also increased in price when compared to Bitcoin. It just shows how frustrated the users are with the high fee.

The high fees were there a few days ago, and they've been there pretty much during the whole BTC bull run over the past month or so.  A lot of this new money that is coming into the game probably isn't even aware of the issues (such as fees) that bitcoin has.  Many new investors don't even have a baseline of what a good or bad fee is for cryptocurrencies.

I doubt bitcoin will survive for a hundred years. Im pretty sure it won't and will be replaced by new and more advance coins.
The coins we are seeing are the first generation coins. There will be a second generation for sure and so on.

Everything can happen. Even the fact that it will be offset by another currency. But for now this is an unlikely scenario. More and more new people come to the crypto currency. They understand little and stop their attention only on bitkoin. Therefore still long time bitcoin will be number 1.

Bitcoin Cash has the potential of replacing Bitcoin in my opinion, Its now the second most valuable cryptocurrency after Bitcoin ans it started only six months ago. Because its lower transaction fees and bigger block size, people are inclined to go in for it rather than bitcoins and they are already doing that.

This question was a funny things few days ago because we all know how bitcoin powerful is. But now, as we are seeing how it is decreasing day by day we have to make a small self-revision and try to make an overview because at this stage of weakness, bitcoin can be replaced in few months. We all hope not to happen so.

It is possible that bitkoyn can be ever replaced by another, more promising crypto currency. If bitkoyn, as recently, will not be improved technologically and eliminate its shortcomings, it is possible that a more perfect digital coin will take the place of the leader of the crypto currency. However, starting from the New Year, a lightning network will be introduced in Bitcomyn, which will eliminate the current shortcomings of bitcoins, namely, the slowness of transactions and the high cost of commissioning for them. Therefore, it seems that it is not going to give away its leader to the crypto currency.

Well if that's true that there will be an improvement going on in bitcoin, then I don't think bitcoin will be ever replaced by any altcoins in the market.

Anything could happen, but I do not think it will happen soon, bitcoin is at its peak and it is more popular than any atcoins due to volume and its supporters. I am also a bitcoin enthusiast so my trust and confidence of bitcoin is very high as it could become the global currency in the future.

Also include the facts that all other coins just rely on bitcoin's price in the market. Once the bitcoin price go down, altcoins also follow.

I think it cannot be replaced in a short term. Adding that bitcoin today is so powerful. May be it will take long long years for bitcoin to be replaced.

We need to wait the decision from devs of Bitcoin and the whale. If they want to make the price of Bitcoin increases more high price, I think next reason will be upgrade the Bitcoin system, example SegWit2x or lightning network ...

bitcoin if first  cryptocurrency with massive supporters and limited number will make it number 1 and will keep it’s first number.

For the crypto world, coins come and coins go, but what I think is that bitcoin will always be there. Technically, bitcoin may not be perfect, but it will be there as a benchmark for other altcoins. By the way, I think that bitcoin cash is very much undervalued compared to bitcoin.
