I've been watching the downfall of Vcash in horror, and the failure of the community to really effectively do anything about it, also in an equal amount of horror because I had 10,000 Vcash on an incentive node and didn't cash out in time.
It seems that right now we have three choices:
1) hold onto our coins in the hope that something magical happens 2) cash out at pennies on the dollar 3) pool some of our resources together to fund further development and support.
I like option 3. I am a C++ dev, not a brilliant one but I don't mind working my ass off and I can carry a fair bit of the weight. That said, if there's anything we should have learned from last time it's that relying on a single dev is a very bad idea, and in any case I'm sure that if we are somehow able to pull off option 3 some of the other devs who have been loosely involved could be motivated to put in some regular effort.
What I'd like to know right now is how many of the current stakeholders would be willing to throw some of their Vcash into a pool to fund development and support, and perhaps, just maybe, get this train rolling again. Just a show of hands of how much you would be willing to throw into the bucket, then we can see if it's viable to make things more formal and move forward.
I'll start the ball rolling with 5,000 Vcash.

I'd throw in more than that if we have a good reason

Just signed up to say I also bought 10k of vcash to run a node, high and dry now. I'll throw in 5,000 as well. So we're at 10,000 now.
@francisthecrusher is 100% correct, there are only 3 choices here. Choice 1 is.. well... the easiest but has a 95% chance of a complete less. Choice 2, well, I don't know where everyone else bought in but I bought in at a high point so I'd lose about US$2500-3000 personally. 3 is the best option and fastest way to make those holding vcash recover their investment, I don't think it's going to happen though because there's no community anymore, I guess everyone sold already or lost interest. I saw that the margin cap went from 500BTC to 610BTC in the last 24 hours though, if we had an active dev and some light at the end of the tunnel we could take advantage.
I have very low hopes given no one else has put a number down and the community seems pretty dead, but the theoretical dev fund is 10,000 XVC now.
dev fund tally: 10,000XVC

Because no one cares. Why would they waste time maintaining wallets for this coin when even our own community is basically dead?

Hello What is waiting for a coin in the future? Why did the price fall?
The price fell because there is a single dev running everything and he had a mental breakdown, which is totally understandable. I'm quietly working on somewhat of a solution though, don't know how it will turn out, let's see what happens.

Me. But I'm not promising anything. The tech itself is great, just no community. If the community ends up picking it up again it will probably go back to the price it was before (i.e. a 10x increase). If you need help just post here, I check this thread every couple of days.

Weren't there more people at the beginning? I though you were a team taking over the project? Can you give us a little update about what are you doing right now?

Wallet has been disabled from months.... so I don't see why they would keep it...

Weren't there more people at the beginning? I though you were a team taking over the project? Can you give us a little update about what are you doing right now? There was originally one key dev, John Conner. He had a bit of a breakdown and everything fell apart. Then a small community took over which appears to no longer exist. Lessons learned are: 1) don't rely on one dev and 2) make sure devs have an incentive to keep going. Right now (as far as I know) I'm the only one working on the code. The original dev left a backdoor which has now been fixed, but there may be others, so I'm slowly reviewing each line of code and making improvements along the way. I've put a call out for existing owners of the coin to pool some of their XVC for a development fund but there has been almost no interest. I like the tech behind this coin but at this point I will most likely be relaunching the codebase with my cleanups and modifications as a new coin (not Vcash) and somehow (I'm not sure how yet) ensure that there's an adequate development fund without using a premine. If there's no reason for developers to put time and effort into a coin there is no coin.

If there's no reason for developers to put time and effort into a coin there is no coin. I don't understand why you're saying you'd put in funds when you're doing the work. If you really are a skilled dev, what is your github and who would handle the dev fund? I would pay a decent amount and I believe one other person would as well. Some holders with less who probably haven't checked this thread would also contribute.
