On the bright side, BTC is back to $59. That's a 20% discount since Thursday.

Yes but that is because you are selecting a batch #2 machine (SKU AVALON-TWO), which has a numeric value of 1500 attached to it and now the site switched to BTC instead USD, so you are overcharge by a factor of eh... 50 Click here: http://store.avalon-asics.com/?product=avalon-asic-unitfor SKU AVALON-THREE at correct pricing, BTC 88 for a unit

So, they are available for purchase now? I wonder how long it will take for this batch to sell out.

Nice move Avalon with raising the prices, it leveled up the whole game... Since batch #2 was cheaper than batch#1 in BTC terms I was a bit concerned that no one would like to buy an asic now when have in mind that eventually the price will keep decreasing in BTC terms, and therefore dilute the reward for the loyal fans in first two rounds... Keep up the good work and have fun on holidays!

I think Avalon cashed in their BTC and that is why the coins drop thus creating two factors. 1. They get cash for the BTC they have collected, and 2. The btc prices and maybe (conspiracy theory) giving the feeling of buy it now its 25% discount on the asic machines now

There is too high probability that by the time Avalon batch 3 delivered BFL will be out in full 655TH force and then good luck with making back your 88 BTC I have calculated that BFL pumping @25% of their ability i.e. 200 units a day * 22 workdays a month of 60GH units will increase network by 8.8TH a day 200*22*60/30=8,800GH
Not counting existing miners or other companies. So in 365 days you will make 43.71 BTC and deduct $1,314 for power (0.600kW*24H*365D*$0.25)
Price is 3-4 times too high so it's too big of a gamble. Feels like Avalon is cashing-out out of the game. Last final sale for all the marbles, grabbing with both hands. They pretty much dead very soon. Even if BFL will delay again for 2 month, Avalon doesn't have much better track record of delivering in volume. Where are 1st batch 300 and 2nd 600, I ask you? And we are only 2 weeks away from their announced delivery.
Plus no warranty or guaranteed support. Sounds like they don't have faith in their ability to fix it, (or make it)

agreed. Now at this price/earn ratio I am out of the ASIC purchasing game. No longer sensible. It might be sensible if the BTC price skyrockets but if that's the case I might as well just gamble my hard earned cash straight on buying coins.

Dude, Your math is quite correct for sure. But do you really believe in miracles ? I would suggest BFL to hire a mag so they can meet 200 units a day volume shipped:) But before that they have to hire a whole army of mags to be able to make at least one working unit - something called a prototype PS: i will relay appreciate some REAL feedback from Kano or Luke about BFL dev status. But this aint gonna happen as we all know or will eventually happen when and only when they have some good news for all of the BFL customers Just to refresh you memory it took 10-15 Days to avalon team to build a working unit + software (yeah i know cgminer was modified but it requires a lot of work and knowledge) . On the other hand BFL claim to have chips after who knows almost two months and they still do not have prototype yet. Which tells me just one thing - they (or their subcontractors) are not competent/able to do it or they have some real problems going on

Making prototype of ASIC on a budget i.e. under $200,000 for 65nm takes 3-4+ month additional time and is pointless. So then we left over with full production run and that is why there is no prototype, but once first unit is made and firmware/software complete then they can make any number of units a day as long as it's profitable to make them and it is. They can just hire entire army of workers and pay them $200/hour and it still be profitable for them. The only thing they will run out of produced chips in matter of weeks.

Ok no argue with that dude. Hope dies last as we know. Let all of us leave them work then and wait. Simple math tells me:worker at 200 USD: 20 Workesx200Bugs x8 hours*22days=740 000 USd should be spent for making a prototype and to save 500 000? Am i stupid is the math wrong or just BFL management is not doing the simple math as me? And they had a lot more than 3-4+ month for prototyping? BFL is not a thread for Avalon batch 3 customers at all. The real thread for them is Bitfury. This guy knows his shit pretty well and he and his team have the skills and knowledge to do it. He will make his project to an end that is for sure at least for me. The only question is if Bitfury will find investors/funds to do it and how many TH is he going to deploy. And if Asicminer changes his plans eventually and deploy more.

1) $200/h is an exaggeration to demonstrate that they will not have problem finding any number of qualified people to assemble units. 2) each person can put together 96 units in 8 hours if he besides to work fast, maybe get paid $25/h, so 2 people not 20
