I'm new to bitcoin but have done lots of reading up on it for the past month. Would love to get into bitcoin mining but with the upcoming 50 to 25 coin payout, I'm a little bit weary about its profitability.

That already happened.

Been a lurker for a couple months, this forum has been my main source of information about bitcoin. Though when i found out about the five post rule when I registered I wasn't too happy, I suppose the low amount of spammers makes up for it. Le~ w/e. -Chen

Might as well hop on the band-wagon and join the needing my 5 post minimum chain. Just another miner who likes the idea of bitcoins and hopes to see the system survive the various ups/downs it's had recently.  Also the guy who runs  http://goo-inside.me/  for mirroring android roms, though most of the people who use the site, never knows it! A rambling PHP coder/linux administrator, projects are fun, but it sucks to have to do them one at a time, more fun to try and multi-task them to stay interested.

Hi, I'm Hens. I'm only here because I want to ask the other users for their bitcoing investment/speculation stories. I'm particularly interested in their rationale for investing (i.e., why they think it'll go up). I have to escape this newbie dungeon first though.

Quote from: meInTheJungle on November 18, 2012, 12:37:24 PM Hi and thanks for the welcome and info. Can I ask, do you remember what setup you used to achieve 6 mhash/s? Playing with DiabloMiners switches, I've only managed to increase from 1.1 to 1.7, seems I'm missing something obvious maybe? Oops, tried now with: bitcoin-miner.exe -a 5 -g no -o http://... -v and got this for my Core2D T7400: Seems like my memory was too keen, sorry about that... but it's still more. Since you are at deepbit, have you tried their settings from  https://deepbit.net/help  ? And what CPU do you have exactly? Edit: You might want to check/ask the deepbit forum  https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=3889.0  or some other specific thread *hint*
