My name is Craig and I work for an NGO in child safety services. I've been watching the forum for about three weeks and finally decided to join it. I'm very interested to see the development of Bitcoins and related communities.  NGO = Government funded?  Can you Aussies not make sure your children are safe without NGO's? If so...**moocher**  **cough **. Just kidding, welcome aboard, start mining or hashing for the cause asap. Yes NGO = Non-Government Organisation  We are funded to care for children that have been relinquished by there parents due to extreme needs.  Thanks for the welcome  "Are there no prisons?  Are there no workhouses?" Erm..... What are you asking?

More from the non-spam trivia-fun-facts-section of my not-so heroic first moments in this forum (you made me do it): Did you know that the single most damaging organism to the earth's atmosphere within the last 100 years was called Thomas Midgley, Jr. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thomas_Midgley,_Jr.)?  Not only did he invent and promote the use of Tetraethyl-Lead as an octane booster for "leaded" fuel, he also invented freon, which is still responsible for the destruction of the ozone layer and will be until 2100. He died after entangling and strangulating himself in a rope-based device that was supposed to help him move about, since he was disabled after conducting polio some years before his death in 1944 (age 55). He was a celebrated and much respected chemist at his time, since the malevolent side-effects of his inventions were only discovered decades after his death.

Pretty new around here, not new to the whole Bitcoin area, but I've been a lurker. I recently started a mining pool of my own, which I've spent some time and and I'm sure a lot more time will need to come in the very near future! I'm awaiting my Jalapeno if it does well, I might just order another since my personal budget isn't that high.  Will be adding those to my current pool and hope I get some people who would like to join Random Draw's pool! If you're looking for a new pool, please check us out!  http://www.RandomDraw.org/ Cheers!

You were a newbie once too..   Been mining for a few days now, put together a rig with a couple of 5830's in there.. getting up to 650 Mhash/s with these. Not bad. Got into bitcoin sometime ago, not at $5 but at $58.  Trying to become rich now, or at least to fulfill my dreams. How does it go.... The best point to invest in BTC was at 5$. The second best is today.

I am largely self educated. I taught myself to read at the age of four. My favourite place to hide while playing hookey in school, which was the norm, was the library. I escaped most reprimand by acing their tests anyway. To this day I spend much of my time reading. Whereas in the past, that was mostly books, nowadays it is the Web. I have often found that by the time I read a book, the lag time caused by hard copy publication has rendered it already old news, as I've already read it on the Web. I was bred to be an anarchist, not so much by my parents, though I was mostly left to raise myself, but rather by my awareness even as early as five that my requirement to attend school was simply might makes right, force. I didn't really think it all the way through until I found Stefan Molyneux, but I was officially a Libertarian Minarchist by the age of 20.  Nowadays I tend to be viscerally cynical about anything to do with the state, though when I converse with people it tends to be less from an ethical and more a pragmatic cynicism. I point out the extreme evil of the consequence of the state, often from an economic perspective. Die hard communists tend to enjoy my perspective, and I often wind up leading them to question their own thoughts on the state as being any possible solution. I have a strong foundation in economics and much of my thinking finds itself extrapolating from there. I am ecologically minded in much the same way as Bjørn Lomborg. I am the very antithesis of a Luddite, believing fervently that individual entrepreneurship and technology can and will ultimately solve all problems, if they are not stopped from doing so by the state. Political sophisticates often label me as a Libertarian Socialist. I tend to identify myself as a left leaning Anarcho-Capitalist, left leaning because I envisage a common ownership of "the commons", paying a dividend to every individual. I do not envisage that common ownership as being a state, as it by no means implies any monopoly upon, or right to initiate force. I have been self employed for twenty years creating extreme fetish erotica. Though the quality has been very low budget and therefore somewhat amateurish, I am very proud of the work I have done, as I believe I have evolved that media in a cathartic fashion that has significantly improved the lives of a great many people. I dare say I have even saved lives with it. The changing nature of media however has made it difficult to market such things, given that I dare not put my work where children and other innocents can easily acquire it, and so nowadays I live as a pauper, waiting for inspiration to take me down a new path. I am 54 years old and the kids are alright.

Started mining about a week ago, joined Slush's pool and almost have one BTC already. Running a Core 2 Quad, 8GB 1600 ram with an XFX 6950 that has been flashed with the XFX 6970 bios. So far, highest stable core on the card has been 905/1250 with stock voltage. Can't get it stable any higher, with or without raising the voltage. :-( Using GUIminer without any flags, and getting 365-370Mhash/s
