This illegal exchanger ( https://www.bitfinex.com/) is hacked. 120K BTC was stolen(aprox 60 mil USD) ! http://www.coindesk.com/bitfinex-shuts-down-customer-bitcoin-stolen/It's so funny when they write " The theft is being reported to — and we are co-operating with — law enforcement." What law enforcement when YOU are running an illegal forex company(without licenses) ?!?! They are liars and morons and full of vanity(they know everything, they are beyond any problem, they are GODS)...This vanity brought down almost all the exchangers.

Please explain... how/why is Bitfinex illegal? I explained that in other posts. Bitfinex business is required to be licensed by the country where they are incorporated. They claim to be in China and BVI. Both countries require a financial license for a such business. More than that, if you want to operate(to have clients) in EU, USA and your company is registered, let's say in China (it can be any country), you must get license in EU or USA(in each State from US) along with the license from China. Bitfinex doesn't own any license so they are running an illegal business. http://www.digitalcurrencyperspectives.com/2016/06/09/cftc-fines-bitfinex-for-failing-to-register-and-operating-an-illegal-exchange/

Never used this exchange but have seen other exchanges disappearing with excuses like that. Sad for the people who lost money on this exchanges. Anyone know why there is no information about the owners when you search for who is information. http://whois.domaintools.com/bitfinex.com

In the coindesk article it is mentioned that some of their users have had their bitcoins stolen which means that not users are affected? I have a feeling that because of the bitfinex shutdown the bitcoin price has dropped to $555 currently and with this trend the price is going to fall probably to $400 very soon.

Under normal circumstances I'd say I told you so. But, as I have told you so with such vehemence and frequency already the phrase has lost all meaning. Therefore, I will be replacing it with the phrase, I have informed you thusly.

See it positive. At least the guy who stole it, is possibly going to buy lots of highly beloved ETC with it.

you can make the bets. how much is the breach? few hundreds thousands or millions? Guess it doesn't matter too much. It's apparently enough for everyone to go apeshit. In the end I'm donating my losses in both Bitcoin and Ethereum for it to hopefully be one and the same person. Some guy who hacked the DAO, made ETC happen, then hacked Bitfinex. In some years we might watch a movie about him and laugh.

I read more than 80m$ worth of coins stolen. So little of them dumped till now. When this is over we may see below 300$ if that's true.
This will end so badly. Everything that people worked for till now will be dirt. Families will be ruined. So sad.

All those downtimes for maintenance and they still get hacked. And this isn't the first time either. The worse thing is they're probably the most popular western bitcoin exchange, lots of people are going to feel disappointed.

I dont see reason why this should be the same person. Afterall Bitfinex says only some user Bitcoins are missing, altcoins unaffected. Not sure if the altcoins were not worth the trouble to steal or the security to access these at Bitfinex is higher.

it should be around of 120K BTC lost that means aprox 70 mil USD... Happy 100 USD/BTC or lower ! For small fry who wish to accumulate, that would be most welcome indeed. Probably not of the magnitude of Bitcoin going from $30 --> $2, but still an opening for a new batch of future old-timers.
