Guys I've found some slack group they are preparing some kind of petition, you can find them here - bitpetition.herokuapp.com

Quote
We, the undersigned customers as the main creditors of the cryptocurrency trading platform bitfinex.com, demand to immediately provide all the information about the state of affairs on the exchange.
Also, we strongly expect bitfinex.com to present the confirmation of the damage, and the conditions and timetable for the return of customer funds. We require that this process and all the actions of the platform were open and transparent.
We are willing to contribute in any possible way to recover the funds and hope for the best resolution for all parties. However, in case of failure to meet these demands, we will file a class action lawsuit against bitfinex.com.

Sounds reasonable to me
that's your right to get your money back so this action definitely needed

Sounds like denial, anger and bargaining all rolled into one.

You can file lawsuits but once a company enters bankruptcy lawsuits are usually discharged and everybody gets in line together. That's the whole purpose of bankruptcy protection.

Ps- It is often the threat of lawsuits that forces a company into bankruptcy.

what's the alternative for BFX's clients? waiting for Bitfinex to empty the bank accounts?

what would you do if you would have let's say 100k USD or 500K USD with them? Smiley

but there are people with millions... of course, part them will hire some guys to "fix" the issue. they will not wait for lawsuits. it's about A LOT of money not peanuts and not everybody is patient  Smiley

No theft would co operate with law officials so they have to serve more time or pay any fines after returning the bitcoin back, which is probably impossible because it is being sent to multiple wallets so it can not be traced back to where they actually came from.

People lost their money with exchange site collapsing not first  time, and by now many should be aware of risk when they hold their founds in their wallet.

I'm new here, but I already learned, as I saw this is not first time and its not highest lost. With Mc.Gox  people lost much more, and still falling on same mistakes.

After this I think I will not even try to trade, like many members suggests here on forum. Its not worth to try to earn somewhere and they just to say they are bankrupt.

from my understanding those 5 btc are gone and usd i should be able to withdraw soon?

Does anyone have the phone number of Jean-Louis (in case it recently changed)? I still called him a month ago and visited him last february, but can't get a hand on him now. Doesn't pick up his phone (unusual) and hasn't replied my e-mail I sent 5 hrs ago yet. Do i have to worry about my usd funds? As soon as I get to talk to Jean-Louis I will book a flight to HK I guess. First want to know all the inside information available.

YES, you should be worried. book a ticket and fly to Bitfinex's office, if you know their address. it's not a joke or something like that but...Bitfinex will not give you the money back if you will not push them HARD. Do not go alone. take a few strong guys with you... Smiley

Man, you have around of 1 mil USD with Bitfinex (hard or easy money, it doesn't matter). Book a ticket now and get your money back from them. It's about USD not BTC and they must have them in their bank accounts.

Before you book a flight and go on Bitfinex's office I would suggest you to find someone there locally and check if they are still on that address because until now they would move or not, this situation is very stressful.

It seems Bitfinex was conned into buying false security from BitGo but they should have known better than moving from a cold storage setup. Roll Eyes

Here you go

Bitgo wallet or should I say one wallet multiple users.

Responding to needs of Bitcoin businesses, BitGo created the first multi-user 2-of-3 multi-signature wallet. Adding multi-user capabilities allowed Bitcoin businesses to have what we’ve had in the banking world for years: joint accounts, multi-level transaction approvals, auditor account access, and more.

Wait... Bitfinex chose 2 of 3 over a cold wallet? Wtf were they thinking?

Bitfinex, like every other exchange, has a chance of being compromised. And Bitfinex was one of the big three Exchanges, so it wouldve been a target for Hackers.

Don't leave your money in Exchanges, kids.

With such losses is very difficult to cope. I wonder what will happen next. As Bitfinex will pay or return loss of these people.

Then it is clear from such problems with bitcoin. That's only if a market has failed, why not keep the other course?
well if people do daily trading they dont bother withdrawing and they just hold their coins on an exchange, i think there is nothing wrong about holding bitcoins on an exchange

BTC price is recovering nicely, back over 570. I was expecting it to take a few weeks to recover.

This makes me happy. The truth is I've always been optimistic about the outcome Bitcoin rating in August. This month shall return the old price. We wait.
