yes it works so long as you mine on the correct chain. Twice today I mined blocks on the wrong end of the chain Same here, it's very frustrating. Dev would it be possible for you to hook us all up with a bootstrap for the correct chain? By the way my wallet's showing a height of 4859 at the moment, what's everybody else got? 4865 now, I think everyone is one the correct chain, the pool is closed. There's a block explorer now, should match height shown here; http://democats.org/pool/?name=bipcoin

Just got a block despite the errors from the pool fiasco, so I can say that it is only inconvenient, mining still works.

I just got another block that failed verification. I've only gotten 2 blocks in the last 8 hours and both failed verification, even though my block chain appears to match the block chain explorer. My current hash rate is 110. and bc_height is 4952.
The error is:
Block <f84bad72d6b0bf2009cd7cb53f698e419e2277890fff29fe91a8b2720c6e33e0> is too big: 22609 bytes, exptected no more than 22409 bytes 17:00:11.596619 ERROR mined block failed verification

Might want to wait untiil tomorrow, we will be releasing an update of all our software to v 0.0.0.2, may fix some of the errors. We're testing it on our end now There's a pool again, so solo mining likely won't work. THIS one is run by people who know what they're doing, Pool: http://democats.org/pool/?name=bipcoin How to mine: http://democats.org/pool/how-to-mine/?name=bipcoinThank you!

Well dude, I like fun, but cryptocurrency requires some boring details:
There is missing spec on OP (block reward, halving, total coins supply)
What exchanges are you targeting? (Miners need to dump somewhere, otherwise BIP will end up with insecure network like now).
OTC thread maybe?
Are you planning to rework logo and get rid of this cat with hash overdose?

VERY busy with testing next version for tomorrow rollout, but short answers, and no time to follow up: --info you want is on our FAQ of our website, in my sig line. Will make note to put in announcement. Thank you. --Not yet targeting exchanges, we just got a block explorer and good mining pool today. Coin is 4 days old. New version coming out tomorrow, testing tonight, exchanges once everything is in place. --get rid of the cat? No way. Thank you, MWD

I have a moment now. Total coin supply added. Thank you. Read your post more carefully. CryptoNote-dervived coins don't work like Bitcoin, "halving" is an incorrect term in this case. We do reference this fact in our OP. "--Smooth emission. Difficulty retargets at every block" More info: https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/4ev0m6/monero_halving/Surprised you don't know this, with MyMonero in your profile. Respectfully, MWD

The "how to mine" doesn't tell me much about how to mine in a pool. It might tell someone who knows what he's doing how to mine in a pool. Just not me. However, I did just get a block with my Core i3 cpu. At a whopping 36 hashes.

I'll get on the pool this weekend, we have a big software update before then.

Difficulty retargets at every block" More info: https://www.reddit.com/r/Monero/comments/4ev0m6/monero_halving/Surprised you don't know this, with MyMonero in your profile. Respectfully, MWD "halving" is pretty correct term because there are different CN coins and each has different emission, some halve, some has smooth emission. Difficulty not retargets on every block because actually it takes up to 12 hours (360 blocks with 2 min. block time). For example if you throw 1 MH on BIP to mine it, it will reach correct difficulty only after big amount of blocks mined. Then if 1 MH miner will stop mining it can take significantly big time to adjust difficulty back. Common mistake in CN, does not matter for established coins like Monero, but very noticeable for new coins with tiny difficulty. EDITED: Well it retargets every block, but not as perfect as it can. Prolly you can change retarget algo so there will be something new in this coin.

Didn't change much, just branding, and added 4 decimal places to granularity. Plus usual, ports, seed node IPs, random number. And removed that friggin' public key! Plus the The BipCot NoGov license http://bipcot.org/We do plan to bring in some Bytecoin updates as soon as their latest is out of beta. MWD

I see. May I ask what is "friggin' public key"?

Cryptonote basic code has buried deep in it, a public key. No one knows what. But it's basically a back door. Probably just a test net thing the developers left in by accident. But leaving it in makes the coins vulnerable. Many CryptoNote coins leave it in. Monero and BipCoin take it out, maybe one or two more, I didn't have time to check them all.

I see. May I ask what is "friggin' public key"? It's pretty damn serious. No coin that leaves it in should probably be supported. Here's a Monero dev discussion about it from back when. Search this 8f80f9a5a434a9f1510d13336228debfee9c918ce505efe225d8c94d045fa115 on this page: https://bitcointa.lk/threads/blowing-the-lid-off-the-cryptonote-bytecoin-scam.357205/page-11We found it on our own and googled it and found the Monero guys also found and dealt with it. But it's in some of the lesser CryptoNote coins, and still in the CryptoNote base code. MWD

I woke up today to find yet another solo block mined on the wrong chain. The third in a row. For a moment I thought I was causing the forks but it turns out many others have the exact same problem.
I think I'll leave mining until the next update. I hope the new pool works well though.
