We know that bitcoin is strong and all the wallets have milletry grade security but one of my stupid friend today said that maybe someone can hack it with just a calculater because with math and correct formulas we can even predict gambling bets if that is possible then maybe there is any chance of this
The network tries to produce one block per 10 minutes. It does this by automatically adjusting how difficult it is to produce blocks.

Your friend is quite some dreamer if he can thinks that he can predict gambling bets. Of course he maybe right if he wants to hack the MD5 Hash of a single spin but casinos are bit forward of him. They only leave a seed of MD5 to verify for only a few minutes so no chances to hack such things. Bitcoin so far in its 7 years of life is not breached in security. All the cases of hacks and steals is because of user fault. So bitcoin is as strong as it can be.

I think your friend read this http://www.righto.com/2014/09/mining-bitcoin-with-pencil-and-paper.html and may have quickely predicted that bitcoin can be hacked which is just a noob thinking as mining with this pencil and paper is not practical. Nothing to worry about, it will require lots of computer power/super computers lots of years to get private key of one single bitcoin address.

Your friend is starting hit borderline retarded levels when it comes to oversimplifying how Bitcoin and it's security works. You can't calculate things that have a specific encryption key just because you have the right formulas. If that was how it worked encryption would be useless and nothing would work when it comes to any form of security. Tell him to go and read how encryption works and why it isn't just "some math calculation".

Thats impossible that we can just calculate it using calculator even you have many formula you can not get break bitcoin unless if you monitored the whole blockchain and you have some high hacking tools or even manually using linux but i think its impossible right now because bitcoin has high security and they dont let hackers to monitor they tracks.

i invite your friend to try. he can get very rich if he is able to succeed. to me this idea sounds like someone would suggest that it is possible to break in into fort knox with just a hammer and a chisel. nobody can guarantee that it is not possible, but it just is not going to happen.

bitcoin is one of the world's juiciest prizes for hackers. there must be thousands or tens of thousands who've tried to break it, let alone governments and banks, and they all went away with their heads bowed.

this forum would not still exist if bitcoin had been cracked. if it is we'll sure as hell know about it.

What do you mean by "strong"?Do you mean secure?

Bitcoin wallets are secure enough and your freind is wrong.

You need more powerfull computers and not just a calculator to hack anything.

Bitcoin is strong and there are some bugs in blockchain technology which are being fixed timely as we see new wallets with more improvements. This simply doesn't make Bitcoin weaker, I think your friend has heard about different hack about Bitcoin but those were exchanges or service providers who had flaws in their security systems. I don't think that your friend can do anything with Bitcoin in regards of security directly.

I have encountered my fair share of these type of people around me and in my experience the best answer to these people is "yes, you are right"!

just let them stay in their dream world dreaming about hacking and their super advanced mathematical formulas I bet your friend has to think for 10 minutes to come up with the result of 2+2 Cheesy

I personally don't allow myself to give opinion on the matter, not unless I am fully aware of the range of ECDSA private keys, the secp256k1 elliptic curve and some other stuff regarding creating a private key

maybe you should introduce your friend to google and teach him how to search: http://bitcoin.stackexchange.com/questions/2847/how-long-would-it-take-a-large-computer-to-crack-a-private-key

Your friends calculator needs a quantum core if he wants to predict private keys.

Obviously your friend does not have an academic background, the math which bitcoin is based on is not just something Satoshi came up with.
This type of math have been studied for decades and thousand of academic articles have been published.
Really no need for me to go into technical details, your friend will obviously not have to background to understand it anyway.

The picture of the sun posted above is the best way to illustrate how secure bitcoin is for people with none academic background.

If bitcoin is easy to hack, it would be down in years before the price going $600.
The code bars of this cryptocurency is too perfect to hack by someone with old PC in the garage.

To me, bitcoin is not hackable; however, the bitcoin network might be hackable. So the question should be "how strong is bitcoin network?"

If bitcoin was easy to hack, there will be no bitcoin to begin with.

Yes, hacking bitcoin looks like an impossible mission, even we use top 10 supercomputer, we should spend 100000 centuries to decipher it. LMAO.   Cheesy

To me, bitcoin is not hackable; however, the bitcoin network might be hackable. So the question should be "how strong is bitcoin network?"

And Bitcoin network is vulnerable like any other network so there is no such thing as 100% security. We all have to be aware of this.

maybe your fried is not familiar with the concept of calculator or maybe he doesn't know what hack a bitcoin wallet means!

either way, you should have told him bitcoin survived from 2008-9 till now without being hacked the way he thinks and it will continue being OK until there is a big advancement in the quantum computers front.

To me, bitcoin is not hackable; however, the bitcoin network might be hackable. So the question should be "how strong is bitcoin network?"

And Bitcoin network is vulnerable like any other network so there is no such thing as 100% security. We all have to be aware of this.

i don't know what you two mean but i am only aware of these and i doubt we can exactly call any of them "hacks"

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

Congratulation you have a genius friend, if your friend is able to do that, he probably already become billionaire, it is true that there is no 100% secure thing in internet, but i think bitcoin wallet has a very strong security

now the question is how he can found the correct formulas? it's not known until now and i guess it'll be not known in the future too
because talking is easy but realizing is far from easy,if finding the formula is that easy, bitcoin maybe already died few years ago
